Final PC System Requirements

Well that online test doesn't really tell you much that you wouldn't know already. But about SP3. It wouldn't hurt to download it would it?

 

And can someone tell me if GTA 4 will be released tommorrow in Australia? That countdown at the top of this page is getting me excited !

It will be Wednesday the 3rd but its possible some retailer will break the street date and then there'll be some stores selling it tomorrow.

Yes, it will support Quad core CPU's.

 

They wouldn't have recommended a Quad core CPU as part of the requirements if it didn't support it.

Thats not what i said. I asked if gta iv will take adventage of 4 cores.

Why would they recommend Quad core CPU's if the game wasn't coded to take advantage of all 4 cores?

Because it has video editor and video editing and processing prefers 4 cores over 2 cores and R* probably thought that PC users will go crazy with Video editor so they will recommend Quad. That's what I believe

It will run if you have a lot of RAM and a good videocard I guess, but expect A LOT of waiting during loading screens... And since there are very little loading screens in the game it'll probably suffer from huge framedrops and hangings even with super videocard..

Commenting on my dilemma from earlier.

I have Windows XP Service Pack 2, and all the other hardware specs meet the Minimum Requirements. Apparently you need at least SP3 for it to work properly.

 

However after running the check I get this:

 

 

 

It clearly states I need at least Sp3 however I passed with Build 2.

 

Your 8400 GS graphics card is a lot and I mean a lot weaker than the 7900 series cards and that Pentium Dual Core isn't going to do you any good you need core 2 duo

Unlike the vast majority of PC games, which generally underestimate what your PC can manage for the logical reason that a less-attractive game is less annoying than a less-playable one, its auto-calculation is more than a little optimistic. I had to knock down the default graphic options quite a bit on my PC (dual-core 2.4GHz, 2GB RAM, 640MB GeForce 8800) until I got an acceptable rate, and even then there was the occasional really nasty drop. While my experience was more pronounced than most, speaking to other reviewers via the secret review-grapevine lead to confirmation that fiddling to get it playable was universal.

I don't get it why do you guys believe those stupid reviews. Most of them were made like 1-2 months ago when R* wasn't even done with IV PC version. That German review what we had, it was done 2 months ago. So I don't believe any of those bullsh*t reviews. They are full of sh*t.

When they played some unfinished and unoptimized release candidate 1-2 month ago then nosh*t that it run like sh*t on their computer. Actually I don't believe anything from Eurogamers. They are always talking crap and then when game comes out then it is other story.

3 GB 800MHz DDR2 RAM

Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS with 640 MB

 

and I'm using Vista Home Basic 32bit.

 

Just wondering how well will it run the game? 

probably high with a couple very high settings with 1280x800ish resolution

So, if I was to upgrade anything on my rig, what would you do first? I probably have enough to do just one thing.

 

Intel E6600 @ 2.4Ghz

nVidia 8800 GTS 640 (G80 core)

2 Gigs DDR2-800 Ram

Asus P5N-E SLI motherboard

 

I'm not running SLI, but as far as I can tell I couldn't even get another GTS 640 anywhere. I'm wondering if it would be worth it to get a GTS 512 (G92 core). It says that it's PCI-E 2.0, which my motherboard is not (not sure if that really matters a whole lot).

 

Or, if it would be worth it to get a Q6600 (the motherboard will take it).
