Major League Baseball 2008

I wouldnt mind a Rays/Phillies WS. Something new and fresh at least.

Right now that's looking like the right choice.

Rays are winning 5-0 in the 6th.

Seriously, how do you blow a god damn 7 run lead in the 7th inning? f*ck.

Easy, Tampa Bay is a young, inexperienced, albeit extremely talented and great team, and Boston is a team chock full of veterans that have been in the playoffs numerous times.

It will be interesting to see how the Rays respond to this loss. I think they'll win game 6 at home though.

Is is too much to ask to see the fans at fenway feel the way I felt a few days ago. I just wanted to see those massholes' faces melt into tears as Papelbon dropped to his knees, and Rays caps went flying in the air.

I'm seriously growing an irrational hatred toward the Red Sox. They're a good team, but I hate their guts. I'm sure if they lose, oh look out, it must be a curse. Their team didn't lose, it was a curse that did it. But look at the Angels, do they have a curse? Everytime they get to the playoffs, they play a team with sox in their name, and they lose. I could easily say that the only reason they won in 2002, was because they played New York, Minnesota, and San Francisco. No teams with sox. But ever since then every postseason they've been a part of, it's been sox.

2004: Lost ALDS to Red Sox in sweep.

2005: Lost ALCS to White Sox.

2007: Same as 2004.

2008: Well at least they won a game against Boston this time.

But you know what. It's not a curse. I don't know what it is, but I'm sure in it's basic form, it's the fact that the Angels just haven't been able to cope with the pressure of postseason. Anyway, I'm rambling.

Especially last year with my Rockies in the World Series. I was coming back from Disneyland when they won their game to get there and then, bam! 4-0 sweep, I was upset because I know that was the only time that'll happen for a long time. confused.gif

Stupid Bostink Red Cox.

The Rockies just got hot at the right time last year. A total fluke. Sorry.

If the Rays go on to lose this series, Evan Longoria is basically the Bill Buckner of 2008 for making that terrible throw to first with two outs. Then again, just like Buckner, it wasn't all his fault. I mean, the Rays' bullpen blew it bigtime choking a 7-0 lead in the first place.

As an avid Red Sox fan I am enjoying this anti-sox slander. I suppose everybody hates the best. I remember the near orgasmic joy come over me when JD Drew ripped that pitch over Gabe Gross' head.

Best game I've ever seen. Watched the whole thing from bottom of the 7th on and I am so glad I did.

GO SOX!

I don't hate them, I just want to see the sh*t beat out of them. Preferably in front of the fans at Fenway.

That's why I said its not going to happen for a long time, that's why I was pissed. tounge.gif

@VCSRules - If you are a fan, then why did you start watching the game only when they were coming back(7th inning)? and you named only 3 years in October, not everyone. So.....

Nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah nah, hey hey hey, GooOOoobye!

I might just watch the world series this year.

I'll take the Rays in six.

It's stupid that the All-Star game decides home field in the World Series, but it is what it is, and the Rays are tough to beat at the Trop. The noise, the weird roof, everything. The Red Sox play there a lot every year, but the Phillies don't, and there's nothing in the National League that's very comparable today.

Yeah, finalizing the series you have to think the Phillies are going to come in as the underdog. As a White Sox fan, I still would like to see the Rays get the win this year and I think they will.

I was very happy to see them pass up the Red Sox. I'm tired of seeing them in the playoffs and I get great joy when they are thrown out. Same goes for the Yanks, but they didn't make it this year. Joy, joy, joy.

I think I heard on ESPN a couple days ago that the Phillies haven't played on Turn since 2001 or 2003.

Youk won the Hank Aaron Award this year. I have to admit, I was a little surprised by their selection, in both leagues, as Aramis Ramirez won in NL so it seems they go for the second or third tier guy rather than the elite, which of course is what's saved for MVP. Speaking of which, IMO will go to Pedroia in the AL and Howard, who I think would have won the Hank Aaron award, of course thats why he's in the MVP talk, in the NL. Also, I'd like to know, do any of you non-Red Sox fans think Pedroia is overrated just because he's on the Red Sox? Alot of people on Yahoo Answers were complaining about this around the time of the All Star voting, saying Ian Kinsler, who is also very good himself was better, however as it turns out Pedroia, was elected to the team, but Kinsler was the starter.

Pedroia is one of the few players that deserve the recognition the Sox nation gives him. Him and Youkilis are awesome.

I was saying that in the beginning of preseason that Pedroia is goings to be one of the Sox clutch hitters and fielders. When do they announce MVP's?

And looks like Game 5 will not be played tonight. Seems the weather has postponed it again. Tomorrow at 8:37pm.

Why thank you for your respect. IDK when they announce the MVPs. What I'd like to know is when the FA period begins. Does anybody know?

Haven't been by this topic in a while... Being a big-time Red Sox fan myself, I'm obviously pissed that we aren't in the series, but I'm still enjoying these games between the phils and rays. This postponing crap is kinda ruining the vibe though.

Oh and I must say that I was at game 5 of the ALCS between the Sox and Rays when the Red Sox came back from 7-0 in the 7th and won. No doubt the best experience of my life. I have never been in such an insanely ridiculous environment in my entire life. Too bad it meant nothing in the end sad.gif

AL east all the way!

From what I read the Yankees "haven't been wild" about pursuing Teixeira so if they continue not the be then it leaves only us and the Angels. This is the kind of effect a player the caliber of Teixeira has on a fan. I recall an

Angels fan talking about how he loved Casey Kotchman, whom Teixeira was traded for, and that he's a great player, but Teixeira is better. I find myself in the same position with Mikey Lowell.

Teixeira is golden. Great glove with a great bat. But the Angels are looking to sign him with a vengeance. They are skipping on Garrett Anderson, the team's all time best bat, and most likely wont pursue Rodridguez either. And they wont have to fill those holes since they have suitable replacements already on the team. That's a lot of money to throw at Tex.
