douggoud
Say what you want about fans, but it's July and the Cubs and Rays are tied for the best record in baseball. Has this world gone completely crazy? well actually, the angels have the best record in the A.L. and the Cubs do have the best record in all of baseball, i think the angels still have the best record in the A.L., but i may be wrong, and i would also like to introduce myself, i am douggoud (dont ask why i have that username) and i am a huge angels fan and i have played gta 2,3,VC,SA, and gta 4, i own 3 and 4, beat them both, as well as SA when my friend had it, i couldnt really find an introduction page, but then i suck at finding things, lol Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/375289-major-league-baseball-2008/?do=findComment&comment=1058315215 Share on other sites

darthYENIK
They can't be good every year. And it's not just Boston laughing at you it's everyone. You are finally getting what you need. A big slice of humble pie. After years of thinking your sh*t doesn't stink, you finally get a big whiff, and it does indeed stink. In other news. The All-Star line-ups were announced. All-Star rosters Three Angels pitchers, and no Vladdy. And why didn't they just put the whole Red Sox team in there, for f*ck's sake. Digïtál £vîl
Yay for the Dodgers not being able get a single player on the roster above reserve. Russell Martin is acting as reserve catcher but you know that is complete bullsh*t. Somehow it is hard to imagine they are only around 1/2 a game back from being in 1st place for the NL and yet they can't get a single player on the active All Star Roster. Arizona only has 1 as well, but at least it isn't reserve. lol. PS: There is only one baseball team from LA. The Los Angeles Dodgers. f*cking Anaheim Angels can't decide if they want to try to be from LA or from Anaheim. Psh. darthYENIK
Original Los Angeles Angels (Notice the logo and the year the team formed) Of course it's technically not the same franchise, but I'm just saying there were Angels in LA before there were Dodgers. Plus if the fans had our way, they'd stay the Anaheim Angels, since that is where they play. Every off season, the Dodgers fans get excited that their team will win because of one player (or a coach that has a losing record against the Angels), and every year they are let down. Can't pull a technicality like that. You know as well as I do everyone wishes they'd just go with what they really are. Anaheim. My comment still stands on the Dodgers being the only current existing true LA team. How stupid does the "Los Angeles Anaheim Angels" sound? As for the Dodgers, I never expect them to win overall. They just aren't ready as a team yet. And I sure don't expect an individual player or coach to take the team anywhere special. Hopefully though in a few years, once the young guys have all their crap figured out, they can start trying to pick it up again. Although we did kick your guy's asses in the Freeway series. Not a clean sweep but I'll take the 2 wins - 1 loss anyways. darthYENIK
Well technically the series for the season is tied 3-3. But all time the record is Angels: 38 Dodgers: 30, with the Angels winning 10 of 13 games of the past five years. So neener neener. gta_player5
It's official. My indians traded C.C to the Brewers. I think it's a good thing for the Indians, but not so much for the Brewers. Why do I think this? They're trading 4 prime prospects, including the seventh overall pick in the 2007 draft, for a pitcher that might help them win now. If Sabathia decides to not return to Milwaukee after this season they will have basically traded 4 young players for a half season with CC. They're basically renting him then. I think that Milwaukee improved their major league team for right now becoming more of a contender in the NL central, but if they don't win the World Series and Sabathia doesn't return in the offseason, I don't think Brewer fans will be happy about the trade. Just my opinion on the topic. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/375289-major-league-baseball-2008/?do=findComment&comment=1058331205 Share on other sites
Mainland Marauder
Just another dump-the-soon-to-be-overpaid-free-agent-to-get-some-prospects deal. gta_player5
Cubs acquire Rich Harden from A's in six player trade. That's some big news. If Harden can stay healthy he can definitely be effective in that rotation being the number two pitcher behind Carlos Zambrano. That's a good move for the Cubs if you ask me, because Harden is a solid pitcher who can strike a lot of people out, shown by him leading the league in strike out ratio. Just my opinion on the topic. Yeah but thats what the Brewers are going for. They are going for making the playoffs THIS year. Not only this but by trading away LaPorta this probably means that they are going to for sure make sure Fielder stays around for a while. Right now they have one of the, if not the best pitching duos with Sheets and Sabathia. Plus with CC most likely not returning next year, the brewers will pick up some extra draft picks. That should put some more good players in a farm system that is amazing at developing and keeping talent. darthYENIK
It's been a pretty busy trade deadline. Manny Ramirez goes to the Dodgers. Ivan Rodriguez goes to the Yankees. Griffey goes to the Chisox. I'm happy to see Manny leave Boston. That's one less obstacle to overcome for the Angels to get to the world series. Boston is still scary though. But then again, now I have to endure Manny being on the cross town rival team. Digïtál £vîl
Look back a page man, as a Dodgers fan, I am pleased with the trade. However, I do not like all the bandwagon fans who are buying tickets now just to see him. Raises the prices of tickets and makes it harder for me to get the seats I usually like to sit in. Anyways, went to an Angels game last night against the Orioles. Wow did the angels suck balls. They were playing against a guy literally just called up from AA! And they only got 1 hit off of him the entire night!!! Jesus, how sad is that? Orioles' pitcher: Chris Waters Seriously... so sad. Anyways, I've got tickets to a Dodgers game next week, and another Angels game the week after (Angels vs. Oakland). darthYENIK
Well, the Angels are still going pretty good. But with injuries to their three best middle infielders for probably the rest of the season, who knows how long their success will last. Rumors are going around that they are looking to pick somebody up before tomorrow. David Eckstein is high on the list, which would be awesome, since he won his first World Series with the Angels in 2002. Frankie Rodriguez just got his 53rd save last night. He's four saves away from the record. Their magic number is nine, so if (not even) half of the games are as close as they have been, and they don't totally blow up in September, we'll be seeing the record broken pretty soon. I say in the next two weeks. In other news. Earlier this week they started implementing video playback for questionable home run calls. I'm against it. If the Umpires are doing their job right, which happens 99 percent of the time, a questionable call is easily called correctly. I think the best thing would be to put Umps at the foul posts or even in the outfield, that way you don't need to start down the replay path. Human error is one of the things that make baseball the game it is. Digïtál £vîl
The thing that makes instant replay more acceptable for me is the umps have the final say in if they do it or not. There is not "red flag" throwing by the managers or coaches or any of that sh*t, like in football. If the umps get together and can't agree on what each of them saw it, then it can be used. Best way to implement it if you are going to anyways... Anyways, Dodgers are picking up again after going with a 8 game straight loss... Back to 1.5 games behind from Arizona in the NL West. Woot. Keep up the good work Dodgers. Lets at least get to the playoffs... darthYENIK
The Angels and Francisco Rodriguez's magic number is 2. The Angels can clinch as soon as tomorrow, and Frankie can tie the saves record as soon as Wednesday. Although as long as the Angels are kicking the Yankees' asses, they wont see a save chance. Torii Hunter and "Pudge" Rodriguez had a little pushing contest. After being called out at home, Hunter looked to have tripped on a bat, and leaned into Rodriguez, who gave a little elbow nudge (and maybe a verbal nudge) back to Hunter. Hunter, I think, overreacted and pushed Pudge from behind. The benches cleared, and nothing more happened. Word is, after both players were ejected, they met and made up. Hey, I fixed your statement for you. Damn pussies. I still like the Matt Kemp fight a while back against Colorado. Some initial shoving, then a nice upper push/punch to the jaw and tackling and punching. Then the benches cleared out and the classic "pile" happened. When the benches clear, you should expect people to fight, not puss out. That fight was good. Most of the team got in on it and some even got cleated in the face and such (as James Loney stated on "The Best Damn Sports Show" a week ago or so).
