Rim
I see that quite many ppl are still playing gta2. Why? Why don't you play gta 3D games instead? What do you find interesting in that game?
Cursed
Just because people play GTA2, doesn't mean they don't play the 3D ones too. As for why, because they enjoy the game, new doesn't always mean better, and it certainly doesn't mean old games are boring.
Lantyz
I still play GTA2 multiplayer quite a lot. I think the thing I find most appealing is that it's easy, fast, straightforward fun: here's your car, there's a gun, and there's the bastard you're supposed to shoot to kingdom come. With the Game Hunter, finding an opponent, starting a game and playing it takes me about 15 minutes. In other games, it takes me 15 minutes just to get started. I'm also a big fan of modding GTA2 and creating additional multiplayer levels. This is far easier to do for GTA2 than, let's say, for MTA or SA-MP. Now I'm not saying these mods are bad, but there's an awful lot of garbage towering above the few well designed maps and game modes.
RaifalM3n
because its the coolest 2D game `ever graphics are good` and the gameplay beats most of that era games` why not ? and yes the multyplayer ROCKS! i remember some cool matches with my friends some time ago (years actually) ... lantyz `lol "Joined: Sep 24, 2005" one day after me
Algonquin Assassin
GTA II is still one of my favourite PS1 games. I haven't played it in years, but I had so much fun with it back in 99-00. Like Cursed said just because someone plays the 2D GTAs doesn't mena they don't play the 3D ones.
chapapote
I think the city is bigger than the ones in other GTAs (except GTA 4), and the ambient is amazing. A GTA 2 remake in 3D would be the best GTA ever.
Lantyz
I think the city is bigger than the ones in other GTAs (except GTA 4) It's hard to compare the maps of the top down GTA's to the TPV ones, but in the best comparison I've made the districts are actually tiny compared to the TPV cities. See this image. In this comparison, each block is 4.5 meters long (or aprox. 15 feet), which makes each district slightly smaller than San Fierro. GTA2 does feature three districs, though. Regardless, size doesn't always matter. I prefer the smaller levels in multiplayer, for example. the ambient is amazing. A GTA 2 remake in 3D would be the best GTA ever. The dark, gritty atmosphere of GTA2 is certainly something I would like to see in a future GTA. If Liberty City is the "Worst City in America", then Anywhere, USA is the prime example of the future gone horribly wrong.
chapapote
I had always thought Liberty City was bigger than Vice City.

chapapote
I found one interesting map It's not very correctly WTF Damn, I can't read the small letters, and the names seem to be very funny. Old Ghost Town? EDIT: Lantyz, the GTA 2 districts don't appear on the map you posted. I guess that green Liberty City at the top left of the image tries to represent Anywhere City's size. Rim
I seen a bigger map but I don't remember where... I'll post if I will find No luck... Edited November 3, 2008 by rmws.

The districts of Anywhere, USA are each as big as the cities in GTA1. All levels of GTA1, London and GTA2 are exactly the same size. That's why only Liberty City of GTA1 is shown on the map. What do you find interesting in that game? I'm sure most people who still play GTA2 play the 3D GTAs, as well. GTA2 is probably the best classic of the GTAs. The feeling when playing it is different from the 3D versions. There's also nothing that can compare to the radio stations in the game - when Rockstar still made their own stuff. GTA2 was actually the first GTA I played, then I went to 1 and London. That was 8 years ago. So, like I said, there's nothing like the classics. Rim
It is sad that it's impossible to save the game in GTA2... It sucks to start a new game every time you want to play
Deji
It is sad that it's impossible to save the game in GTA2...It sucks to start a new game every time you want to play It isn't impossible xD You can resume old games. I love playin GTA 2. Mindless fun without the crappy gritty graphics and stupid physics. Here I'm not refering to any game in particular (GTA4) but games in general... I wish they'd stop with the realism factor and make games with some good gameplay. Storylines weren't ever a big thing for me either, coz I like to think I've bought a game, not a movie... I often skip cutscenes of games the first time around. With the exception of GTASA for some reason... The intro kinda enticed me and the overall story was pretty damn good unlike most games. Deji
Yeah, SA have a f*cking great storyline. BTW how to resume the game [gta2] ? You should try listening to the tutorial Where you start, there is a building (The Church) with a neon sign saying "Jesus Saves" but is broken and flashes into "U Save"... Comprende? Lol... Rockstars humor not obvious enough? Or don't you look at signs? [/TEASE] By the way, it costs $50,000 or something to save. Which is pretty fun as it adds a challenge but pretty annoying at the same time.

big.bender
i played gta 2 since i am 9 or 10 it was so great. But i only played it with one of my friends because at home i had no computer for me alone. And we don´t make missions but we could drive, and kill people () all for a lot of hours and it makes always a lot of fun. the extras for the cars are one of the best things like oil, weapons and so. And i think that gta 2 personate the name "grand theft auto" more than the follower. it is possible to play gta 2 over the internet ? or only via lan
Rewdalf
I own the original GTA II disc. It was a birthday present. Anyway, I've stopped playing it around some months ago, but I might get back into it if I find my custom car folder. I played it a lot because I liked to make my own cars and damage sprites. I collect a lot of model cars, so if I just take those and look at them long enough I can transfer them to pixel form, make damages, lights, etc, and drive 'em around... downfall94
I play gta 2 just because its down right FUN!!!! Anyway I found the missions to be easier to navigate and beat and alot more fun than all the other gtas. Frankly i love the top down gtas a thousand times better than the 3-D ones. Theirs just a greater fun element to them that i cant really explain BUT ITS THEIR. If anyone hasnt played it recently or at all i think that whould be the top thing on your video game priorty list!
