Otter
Hey. I've noticed that, recently, a lot of my posts, while spaced out and listed by dashes, turn into big blocks of text. It's weird, because when I go to edit them, they're laid out properly. But then looking at the post, it's removed all the line breaks.Case in point: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=373955&view=findpost&p=1058598479 Mods, try editing that, and you'll see what I mean.... or, am I insane? I'm cursed! All I did was edit the post and drop the text a line down. For some reason it worked. Im a genius, I would tell you why its happening and how to fix it but somethings you have to learn for yourself!!
Otter
Seems to hav e righted itself now, even without adding lines. How incredibly odd. Does it have something to do with my profile settings?

Does it have something to do with my profile settings? I think its because you live in Canada. True, we make some geographical location mechanism to confuse different locales. It's very sophisticated. EDIT: Actually, it's because I keep warning you about writing in the officially accepted Canadian English, but you won't listen, so I had to mess it up for you, Otter. Otter
Heh, well, it's still happening. It only seems to happen when I post from the ad agency, on a mac, so that's probably the issue. It's a silly little bug.Anyone else suffer from this? I expect it's probably the lowest priority in the world right now.
*MURDOC*
That seems to happen to me sometimes too, I figured its because Im posting from the PS3 browser. Sometimes line-breaks, and spaces dont appear, and I go to edit, and it looks fine. Of course, the PS3 browser sucks, and I know that. Especially because it seems to have a limit of how many characters can be in each post, which really sucks if I quote someone and then have to edit, because it deletes half of what was there. Suction Testicle Man
Doesn't Mac use a different kind of line break that isn't recognised by non-Mac machines? I would have thought it wouldn't be used anymore since nothing recognises it - but that might be the problem. If at first you don't succeed, you fail, and the test will be terminated. I would have thought it wouldn't be used anymore since nothing recognises it - but that might be the problem. That was last used in Mac OS 9. That hasn't been released since 2000. Mac OS X is based on BSD, which is UNIX-like, and uses the more sane "\n". Windows uses "\c\n" for some f*cked up reason. Why does Windows still need carriage return? This isn't a typewriter, Microsoft!

Svip
...so in plain language, basically, my wizard box is done broke and there's nothing can be done. Right? Tried Linux? Seriously though, don't. It's crazy. Wow. But honestly, Otter, I still have no idea what your issue is. Perhaps a screenshot would be in order? I cannot read your fake Canadian English. Otter
But honestly, Otter, I still have no idea what your issue is. Perhaps a screenshot would be in order? I cannot read your fake Canadian English. You're silly. I can't really take a screen shot, but hell, I'll try. I've put a ridiculous amount of line breaks in this post. Try quoting it. So the forum software is recognizing the line breaks, but not putting them in my post. Unless, of course, the post is only displaying without line breaks on my end. Svip
Let me try. Hm, I see what you mean. Maybe something along the way is removing your break lines. Be it your browser or your Internet connection. If it is only at work, they may have an obscure security measure to prevent HTTP hacks or some sh*t. Who knows? I suggest you get Firebug or Wireshark, check what your request header says. So you can see whether the server removes the line breaks or it is at your end. By the way, does it convert two line breaks into paragraphs?
Otter
Next I'm at the office, I'll check the header. If it means what I think it means. And no, I could put a ton of line breaks in a row, and it still comes out as one block of text. I use Firefox at the office, but it happens on both Firefox and Safari. I wouldn't be suprised if there's some security related issue.
