Rhoda
I must say this is an amazing show and anyone else who watches it may well agree. The basics are that a science professor finds out he has terminal, inoperable lung cancer so he decides to cook crystal meth with an ex-student who's ran off the rails, and then sell it to pay for his treatment. The characters are fantastically cast and very well played, as well as some fantastically written scenes, this is one of the best series I've seen in a long time. I've just seen another episode where they attempt to drown a drug dealer in a bathtub of acid, only to reveal the acid burns through the ceiling and the downstairs hallway is showered with blood, organs and acid. Chilling and entertaining. Anyone else watch this fantastic show?
BigNekkidSnake
When I had cable I used to watch it. In fact the day I lost cable was the night that a season finale was on.... Thats some bullsh*t.
Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
The basics are that a science professor finds out he has terminal, inoperable lung cancer so he decides to cook crystal meth with an ex-student who's ran off the rails, and then sell it to pay for his treatment. Actually, he could care less about the treatment or if he dies. He knows it's inevitable so he's resorting to using his knowledge of chemicals and an ex-student who he knows to be in the drug trade to make money for the family he'll be leaving behind. He has a handicaped son, a wife, and a baby on the way. So, he's trying to make as much as he possibly can so they have a nest egg when he's gone. I watched the first season some months back, I was mad that it was so short, but then I discovered it ended with only the few episodes it had because of the Writer's Strike. It has been greenlit for a longer second season early in '09, so I'll be waiting as there is still so much more of the story. And Bryan Cranston, the lead actor from the series, won his 1st Emmy for this show for Lead Actor in a Drama Series. He was nominated twice I think for his role as Hal, the dad from Malcom in the Middle, but never won. Then he transitions over to drama and BOOM, he wins an Emmy his first nomination, beating out a lot of good actors like John Hamm from Mad Men who I thought had it in the bag. Good for him though, he earned it. There were so many great moments in the 1st season. Like him shaving his head, and going all Taxi Driver by tossing a f*cking explosive chemical at the floor and practically blowing up the office. And just to make a point to the dealer that he's not to be f*cked with. Awesome...
Voodoo
Great show. I watched all of the first season in one marathon viewing. I couldn't turn it off. It's very well written.

And just to make a point to the dealer that he's not to be f*cked with. Awesome... That was the last episode I saw before I lost cable, pretty damned good anyone see the one where That one dude got strung out on meth and started hallucinating sh*t like the door-to-door religious kids were big buff bikers carrying grenades and sh*t and he ran like a bitch. that was awesome lol. PIZZAHUTMAN24
does breaking bad still show normally? (like reruns)
mark3boyz
This is one of the best shows in history. Then again so was Malcolm in the Middle.
Rhoda
If I'm honest I don't think I would have enjoyed this as much if it didn't have Bryan Cranston in it. The performance in this is so contrasting to that in MITM it's hard to comprehend this is a man who wore a sparkling one piece suit and took to rollerskating in the park. Fantastic programming and fantastic actor.
Aimee
this is a man who wore a sparkling one piece suit and took to rollerskating in the park. Actually that's always the image i have of him while watching this, i loved MITM so much that he'll always be Hal to me. We've only just got past the third episode of Breaking Bad here so i'm resisting the temptation to read over the spoilers.
Rhoda
Yeah, same, I'm in the UK too, shown on FX right? It's weird seeing him in this as I have the common vision of him as the happy-go-lucky dad, not the desperate science teacher drug cook.
Aimee
I'm recording the series on V+, so i've only watched the first episode and a bit of the second, the rest of that one and the third are still awaiting my full attention.
Eminence
I've also started watching it on FX, just past the first few episodes now. Really good show so far, extremely entertaining. As for Cranston, he always played the part of Hal well on Malcolm; I found him the funniest character on the show. Through this he's really proved he shouldn't be typecast as that character though; it's a great transition and I think it makes people realise what a fantastic actor he is. Rhoda
I keep missing this as well as Fonejacker series 2 because I simply lose track of time and I'm not a dedicated TV watcher anyway. I do hope a Breaking Bad DVD is released this year/early 2009, I'd love to be able to watch this as and when I want.
Fnorg
I've recentely started to watch this show, and it's pretty good. I missed the pilot, but I'll probably find it sometime on TV. Bryan Cranston is a pretty good actor, before this I couldn't have considered him in a serious role.
Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
MAJOR BUMP. So, is anyone else watching this f*cking glorious show? The 2nd season finale airs tonight, and what an amazing season this has been. This is one of the best shows on television right now. In terms of acting, writing, and overall presentation. I don't see why Bryan Cranston can't win a 2nd emmy for this. Walt has been more conflicted, more gripping, more torn-apart than ever this season. And if anyone has been watching, you'd know why. Same goes for Anna Gunn, who plays Skylar. I think she'll be getting a Best Actress nomination. She was so good this season. And hell, same goes for Aaron Paul who plays Jesse. He really sold it this season. The last episode was utterly fantastic. The ending was just, wow. This is such a satisfying show, it really is. And it's great that this season is twice as long as the first. That's given us a huge variety of episodes, from the more fast-paced, action episodes to the slowed down, character examination pieces. And I've loved every one. This season has fleshed out the characters even more. It's kind of crazy to think about all the stuff that has gone down. Walt, Hank, Walt Jr. aka Flynn, Skylar, Jesse, and a slew of others have all gotten great screen time. It's just amazing to see a little more of them revealed with each episode. If you are not watching this show, shame on you. START. That is all. Edited May 31, 2009 by Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
Fnorg
I totally forgot about this when went off air here. I only caught three, four episodes. Damn. I need to watch this.
Ronmar The Only
I should be watching the finale tonight, though I'm definitely going to catch Into the Storm on HBO first. Great show, who would've thought that Cranston would be able to pull off such a character. Larcen
words JUST CALL SAUL! i love this show. i agree with everything that you've said. i can't wait to see where they're going to take the show next season. at first, i thought that walt's cancer HAD to go into remission for the series to make any sort of a longtime run, and now that it has, the sky's the limit. judging by the previous two seasons display of tight writing and top notch performances, i don't see why BB can't go on for another 2-3 seasons before the storylines should naturally come to a finish. Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
The writers made it clear that they wanted this show to have a long run. Even if that mean doing entire seasons where little time passes. Ya know, like a month. That way even if Walt was to pass, they could still squeeze in a bunch of seasons. I'm fine with that. Also, who else loves Badger? And Saul is f*cking great.
outcest
Definitely one of the best shows on television. Everything about the story is very fluid and dynamic...Walt's situation is outlandish to say the least, but the writing and the acting both portray the cast as very real, very human people. More so than other shows, I think, Breaking Bad succeeds at getting you invested in its plot and cast; you revel in their little victories (don't tell me I was the only one who felt all warm and fuzzy when Jane first holds Jesse's hand) and wallow with them in defeat. Speaking of defeat...there's a sh*tload. This is one of the few shows that I can say keeps getting better and better every episode and really mean it, and that has a lot to do with the fact that we're constantly reminded of how easy it is for things to go wrong. I mean, consider that little mushy moment I just mentioned and then look back on last week's episode...the show recognizes all the maybe's and what if's of how events could turn out, but instead of giving the characters what they want, they keep taking away. It's solemn, sure, but it makes for a more entertaining show, and it emphasizes how truly f*cked up the illegal drug trade can be. Whereas Weeds maintained a kind've comic goofiness to its comedy (which has a lot to do with the subject matter), Breaking Bad's is darker and (if I may whore an overwhored term) grittier...which is reflective of the fact that it deals with harder drugs. I'm pretty stoked on the finale. If this season is any indicator, should be crazy intense...and I'm guessing it'll end with a cliffhanger. I wonder who's gonna die? Oh, and Badger's f*cking dope. Since his appearance on the show I've seen him in a Wii commercial and an AM PM spot...it's rad. Saul's just as awesome, and twice as shady. He's like what Ken Rosenberg would be if Ken Rosenberg wasn't a bitch.

I wonder who's gonna die? i have no idea, but i'm crossing my fingers that the writers will come up with some reason for john de lancie to snap his fingers. and, yeah, badger rules. he was one of my favorite characters from season one (hearing him say "javelinas" made me laugh my balls off, for some odd reason), and his turn with the DJ quallis episode and the bus stop bench was gold. Digital Warlord.
I'm fine with the ending. Not really a Deus Ex Machina since the crash will likely play an impact on Walt's surroundings and not his personal matters. He didn't turn a giant donkey wheel and move his neighborhood. Some awesome moments this episode. Jesse breaking down, Skyler vs Walt, that TV interview, loved all of it. Great season. Very happy where they left things off with Walt/Skyler. I finally thought we were going to see Walt admit the Truth. I think he wants the marriage to end.
TenaciousD.
I do honestly think Breaking Bad is the best show out there, the writing for this episode was excellent. I did not see the ending coming until it literally happened, despite the shot just before of the 2 planes on the radar. There is an interesting article out with Vince Gilligan (the creator and writer of the finale) which is a very good read. Here. Can't wait for season 3 already. Otter
He didn't turn a giant donkey wheel and move his neighborhood. He may as well have. I recently got into Breaking Bad and I love it - but I was quite unhappy with all the happy coincidences and contrivances in the last couple episodes - not to mention the fact that it's now entirely apparent that Walt is a pretty bad guy. I mean, I guess I should have seen it from the beginning, but this dark side is rather unsettling for me. I'm really looking forward to the new season. Hopefully they stick with their roots and lose a lot of the standard television trappings that weve seen in the last half of the second season. Andyzoot
Ok I got into this series just before Christmas. I frakking love it! Any idea when Series 3 starts in the US? I heard it was March but is there a more specific date?

Typhus
I was really impressed with the character of Gus. A quiet, modest and unassuming guy who happens to be a major drugs kingpin. Brilliant performance. His eerie whisper is extremely off-putting. Makes me wonder how he'll interact with Walt in the future.
Don Garcia
Season premiere aired tonight, and it was absolutely fantastic as I expected. Right off the bat, lemme say, the Cartel brothers are gonna be f*cking awesome. Like having two Anton Chigurh's, and that hits me just right. Making it sweeter, Bryan Cranston (Walt) himself directed the episode. And what an episode it was. Everyone of the major characters had a moment in this first piece of the puzzle. The coming storm has reared its head in wonderful fashion. And the cat is out of the bag on Walt's 2nd profession. By the way, this episode takes place just 1 week season 2's finale, so everything is quite fresh. Walt's 'speech' was insanely hilarious, dark, and intensifies how delusional he's becoming. Jesse's epiphany was unsettling, not sure if he's gonna go good or just be content with cooking. Skylar dropped a bomb, the hitmen rocked, the cinematography once again blew me away, all good stuff. The best show on TV is definitely back.
