GTA3Freak-2001
I don't see how the argument that PC's don't cost very much is possible. Maybe not average sub-par chokers. To have a top of the line model that you build yourself be outdated in a year or two, is pretty damn expensive, man. See I don't really get how this old excuse is still relevent with PC's today, yeah in two years and even 6 months a PC becomes outdated but outdated in what way? It might be outdated in its actual parts but in most cases you'll still be running the latest games smoothly with maybe a few bells and whistles turned off. Factor in how cheap it is now to get a gaming capable machine compared to years ago and you can stick this old idea that it costs more to game on a PC then a Console. I agree it is easier to game on a console because you never have to worry about hardware or game settings and you can get up and gaming with less hassle but at a less then spectular end result. Consoles are more peace of mind orientated compared to PC's which require some basic technical knowledge for those times when things don't go right. My 360 begs to differ, getting RROD and requiring me to open it up and fix it but that's besides the point. For this reason consoles sell more games because the majority of people aren't technical minded and don't want hassle mixed with their gaming. MS should cut the crap and tell it like it is, they make more money from a small studio if the game is on one console platform only.

I can't stand running games in anything but maximum, so maybe it's just me. I mean, yeah I can upgrade my PC, and I know how it all works, but the hassle and money to get it how I want it has caused some issues with finances. JOSEPH X
Sorry for straying off-topic, but I`ve only had half an eye out for this game. Thinking it was some Heavy Rain-type pretentious nonsense, I`ve largely ignored it, so I was glad to see this IGN video confirming it had some action in it. New article on IGN: "Early on we had a physics bug that made objects violently tremble around and if you got close to them they would kill the player. It was actually very scary, so from that we thought about what would happen if we did that for real in the game. That's how the poltergeist objects were born." http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/107/1070546p1.html Looks a lot better than I`ve been thinking
Grand Theft Auto Dude
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gnWEYxks-Q This is what I got excited about several years ago, but now it just looks like another 360 action game. Kind of dissapointing.

JOSEPH X
The team last created and worked on the Max Payne franchise, a series widely credited with helping to make "bullet-time" a standard in videogames. These cinematic slowdowns are back in Alan Wake, and they look fantastic. It won't happen all of the time, but occasionally you'll time a dodge perfectly or break out a flare to hold off a crowd of enemies at the right time and the camera will pull back to offer a cinematic view of the action. When it happens, you're just as likely to drop your controller to begin celebrating your awesomeness as you are to continue on with the fight at hand. http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/107/1070128p1.html Action, exploration, puzzles, great writing. I hope I`m not overstepping the mark by saying this could be a sleeper GOTY. It`s been rated T for Teen (haven`t we seen enough gore?) but that doesn`t mean it can`t be scary as hell. Absurdity
Sorry for straying off-topic, but I`ve only had half an eye out for this game. Thinking it was some Heavy Rain-type pretentious nonsense, I`ve largely ignored it, Approaching my third play through and Heavy Rain is by far one of the most refreshing gaming experiences I care to remember. The intricacy of the storytelling is something completely new. The game is an utter f*cking pleasure to play. This, on the other hand is beginning to look somewhere between uninspired and imitation. It doesn't look nearly as good as it did two years ago, nor does it look remotely creepy or suspenseful. The combat seems to be the same repetitive process of shine light and shoot, it just seems to have descended in to another Silent Hill / Alone in the Dark, but with better lighting. It's still something I've got an interest to play, but it's really failed to build on the fantastic footage we saw early on. Now billing itself as an action game, yet, the action looks to be rather boring. The constant slow-mos and cinematic sequences during combat are clearly there to try and compensate for this, but I can't see them becoming anything other than a hindrance and something I would rather wasn't included. I'll reserve judgement until I play it of course, but if my interest dilutes over time as much as the game has, then I doubt that will ever happen. It does have lovely lighting though. cold fusion 33
Alan Wake European release date changed to May 18th, North American and Japanese release dates stay the same (May 18th and May 27th respectively.) Confirmed by Community Leader ADM at the official Alan Wake forum and Remedy members at the forum also. Source: http://forum.alanwake.com/showthread.php?t=3241 Also: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=241723 I am so glad we are getting a game earlier than the US for once, and what a great game to be given an earlier release date, I'm so psyched for the game! chennaz321
I don't understand, people say this is the Xbox version of Heavy Rain. I can't really see the resemblence of the 2, they look like stand-alone games.
cold fusion 33
Only similarities I can see between the two, not that I've looked particularly closely at the story of Heavy Rain, is that both games are heavily influenced by their strong stories and tight pacing. Other than that, the games are pretty much leagues apart. Still, I'd like to play Heavy Rain, shame I don't ahave a PS3.
JOSEPH X
Excellent news! Should keep me off the web when the spoilers are being posted for RDR. I thought it would get a delay but they must be confident that it's ready to go.
cold fusion 33
If any of you have ANY doubts about this game, or think it's going to suck, just watch this video here, it will blow-your-mind: I thought it would get a delay but they must be confident that it's ready to go. Nope, not at all, the game development officially finished for Remedy today. Source: http://forum.alanwake.com/showthread.php?t=3245

cold fusion 33
Meh, it gets the information across about the games well, I can't really blame Remedy if that's how they chose to make a video about the game, because in my opinion, it works very well. cold fusion 33
Saw that video, epic I must say, one of the best Alan Wake videos I've seen so far, because I'm interested in that sort of thing. Launch trailer for Alan Wake, which is also brilliant: Also, the first two episodes of the (Awesome) live action Alan Wake prequel "Bright Falls" are now found here: http://www.brightfalls.com/ Also on Xbox Live, YouTube etc. Words on how cloth simulation (What makes Alan tweed jacket so epic) has been handled in AW by Henrik Enqvist, lead animator at Remedy: http://www.brightfalls.com/

Absurdity
Assuming most will be buying it new anyroad, though when you do you'll get a voucher code thingy inside the box which will enable you to download the first piece of DLC for free when its released. Of which there will be at least two, supposedly. The second youd have to buy. http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/28315/A...se_Strategy.php Much in the same way Mass Effect 2 did and whatnot. cold fusion 33
Good read, thanks Joseph, I always like interviews with Lake, he's a cool guy . Only 8 days until I get my LCE copy . God I hope someone is at home to sign for it when it's delivered, if I come home from school and see one of those "Sorry, you weren't in, so we've take your package 30 miles away" notes, I'll go nuts .
