NAG3LT
GTAIV is available for preorder on Steam.
CharmingCharlie
Yep just checked myself and it is now available for pre-order at a price of $39.99 which equates to £26.79 (call it £29.99 when VAT is added). So it is five pound more than a boxed copy from an online retailer. The slight upside is if you pre-order it you get a free copy of Vice City thrown into the bargain. So I will probably grab it via steam, seems silly to quibble over a fiver's difference.
The Horror Is Alive
Any news on the file size? I'd rather the game on a disk than in a file

So it's the same price in the store as on Steam. btw Charlie, a few posts up check out the "date posted". It's the wrong month.
CharmingCharlie
I think the prices steam charge depend on the country you live in (god only knows why). So if you are seeing a different price to the $39.99 it is possible that the $49.99 is the price you pay for your territory. Just one of those little incredibly annoyances with steam that we still have to put up with. As for the "date posted" times you have a keen eye as far as I can see there has been nothing posted in the usual channels so I would just chalk it up to gremlins in the server possibly sponsored by Microsoft who are cheesed off because the PC version is going to be better than their glorious console's version
jelly
*tap tap tap* It was $49 and in today's dollar that's actually less than what it'd cost in a store.. Throw in the super bonus that I get to not pay sales tax to the little c*nts in suits who think they know better and they have a deal. I smile every time I see 'tax = 0.00' on the Steam checkout. RedEnd
Well, I don't think Germany can get it, as they can't easily verify ages over the net, and the German goverment love the censorship of blood in games and all that. I don't know.. I downloaded SA from Steam and they just asked me about the age and I honestly lied to them who cares? in israel they sell a 16+ game to a 14 years old they didnt ask about the age even.. @jaller : you also get Vice City for free if you already buy IV from steam man, they put some freakin good deals there but surely im going to get a DVD for it.. my mom wont let me her credit card... well. IV is another game to add to my GTA collection from GTA 1 to GTA VCS (PSP FTW) Edited November 22, 2008 by RedEnd
pimpinpenguin?
Now i have GTA IV staring at me on my Steam account and it's annoying knowing i can't play it yet. But please Rockstar for the love of god please let us preload it before release, don't do like Bethesda and wait till midday on release day to release it. Born Acorn
I think the prices steam charge depend on the country you live in (god only knows why). Competition laws, methinks. If the prices were all set to the US price on Steam, then essentially we'd be getting (well, a year ago, at least), a game for half the RRP you see in shops. There's no way that retailers could fight back!
zbos
Preorder IV and get Vice city for free http://storefront.steampowered.com/Steam/M...g/message/2048/ Nice) But I will not buy steam version. Just imagine that, you wish to play IV multiplayer, first login into Steam, after login into GfWL and finaly login to R* social club. That's sounds horrible to me:) Edited November 22, 2008 by zbos

That's sounds horrible to me:) Not a problem for me as i am almost always logged onto Steam. The thing that confuses me is will we get a product key to use on the Rockstar Social club? You'll need a valid key to use GFWL and the Social Club so i wonder how Rockstar is going to handle the Steam versions.

tim987
steam is okay but the game developers should just release the game download themselves.
