spudz47
I have STEAM. I have 10+ games in it and I haven't bought a single game from the internet. All games I own are in The Orange Box (which I bought from a shop) and the HL Anthology (also bought with a box). STEAM has a terrific friends system (lots of settings - it can't go wrong), awesome updates and of course - the best current and old games. I adore STEAM - STEAM is a huge reason why I started actually buying the games I play (yeah, I used to download...) and I will always love STEAM. If I could - I would buy games with a debit card and play all day. Northern Americans are super lucky they can have games by just sitting on the PC... greenthumb
I would maybe consider using steam some more if the download speeds weren't sh*t. when i max out my connection on torrents and stuff, it can go like 3,7MB/s, but on steam i've never gotten over 800kb/s. I'd never buy IV on steam, i just wouldn't be able to wait. For me it's faster just going to a store and buying it. oh ye, and i have had problems with steam like i be buying a game and playing it and stuff. Then i get a new computer/install a fresh windows/whatever and when i log into steam it'll be acting like i've never bought the game and i can't install it. steam is good for 2 things: playing cs:s and team fortress 2. Is Left4Dead a third party game? It's a pure Valve game as far as I know... Would be awesome with GTAIV following its ancestors onto Steam! It happens often especialy if you have allot of other traffic on your net, and there is always offline mode.

Born Acorn
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turtle_Rock_Studios (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turtle_Rock_Studios) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turtle_Rock_Studios) - It was acquired by Valve. The Developers are now Valve employees, and Left 4 Dead uses source, so I'd think it makes it an in-house production, and not third party. If GTAIV was to arrive on Steam, I may buy the game twice, just so I can own a box, but don't need to put the DVD in. Rickzu
No no no, third party support means mods. You can now install mods just like any other steam game, they also receive automatic update support. First mods to support this feature are Synergy, Insurgency, D.I.P.R.I.P, Zombie Panic! Source and age of chivalry. It's a great move from VALVe, and really shows their support for the PC community. Keep an eye on "coming soon" in steam store page for GTA4. I'm almost certain it won't make it to steam on launch, it probably will once the sales have dropped dramatically (this could mean years after the release like they did with the rest of GTA's). Ah, right, forgot about those mods. That definitely makes more sense as third party support. I thought that even though Turtle Rock Studios had been acquired by Valve, they were still sorta considered independent to them or something. Well, my bad, sorry. Anyway, I'd love GTA IV on Steam. Except R* have not made any of their games available to Australia.

Nor in Croatia and I'm guessing most of this part of Europe. I guess our money stinks. We probably pirate too much so they are revoking our right to purchase games. Now this is a strong anti piracy measure

Still, an update on when they're planning to fix this would be nice.
mkey82
Still, an update on when they're planning to fix this would be nice. Sure. Let's face it, we (both you and me) come from countries they just don't give a sh*t about. I'm slowly coming to terms with that fact and I'm finding it creepily settling. At the same time, if one day I turn crazy and start on a killing spree, well what can they do about it?

TruXter
I wonder how soon you can get it from steam, and what kind of bandwidth they are going to face. and can the people in other countries other than the united states, get the game as soon as the people in the usa. medfreak
Call me old fashioned, but I love the smell of a new game box, and the shiny look it has when I put it on my shelf. Born Acorn
I don't know.. I downloaded SA from Steam and they just asked me about the age and I honestly lied to them I think that may just be for the initial site, as Steam pages use IPs to determine your location. Call me old fashioned, but I love the smell of a new game box, and the shiny look it has when I put it on my shelf. It feels substantially better than steam or any digital distribution. It feels tangible. I know what you mean, and, for the Steam Games I've loved the most (like Bioshock), I've even gone back and bought the collectors edition. But there's nothing like the feeling that no matter where you take your laptop, you don't have to bring a fortitude of disks with you, just Steam, in offline mode! This is why I think a lot of games should start using SteamWorks. (http://steampowered.com/steamworks/) - A system where a game you get in a shop has all the benefits of Steam added, no disks after install, and no dodgy DRMs, as Steam's works good enough.
