Kaiser_AK
They're bringing a drama based on a bike gang, created by one of the writers from The Shield and got a good cast. From what I know: Ron Perlman is the biker gang president and father of main character. Katey Sagal is the mother in the series. Drea de Matteo is the main character's ex-wife. The commercials are on FX all the time, what are your first impressions? EDIT: I forgot the most important part, the show's name is Sons of Anarchy. Thanks Don Edited August 31, 2008 by Kaiser_AK
Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
It's called Sons of Anarchy. And it has Hellboy as the leader/badass, of course I'll be watching.
Kaiser_AK
Yeah I liked him in hellboy, hes got the body and look of a badass. Knowing FX, they'll do a good enough job of keeping it pretty violent. Their website is pretty cool too, has some preview vids that are worth checking out if you haven't already. I know nothing about bikers so I'm looking forward to it. http://www.fxnetworks.com/shows/originals/soa/#Nav/Homepage (http://www.fxnetworks.com/shows/originals/soa/#Nav/Homepage)
Typhus
I've recently done some research into outlaw motorcycle gangs and I hope that this show reflects just how interesting the subject is. These people may be quite hard to humanise.
Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
Well they're obviously going to focus on the "brotherhood" element of biker gangs, and the characters will be humanized with back stories and family drama, etc.
Typhus
Well they're obviously going to focus on the "brotherhood" element of biker gangs, and the characters will be humanized with back stories and family drama, etc. True, but from what I've read some bikers don't really care about their family or the family of others. One fellow even killed a five year old girl, knifed her. They just don't seem like the type of folks you'd have much empathy for.
Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
Well than this will be a more civilized biker gang that runs more like a business.
Kaiser_AK
It looks pretty badass but I don't the main characters are necessarily evil people. Much like the Shield its probably going to have that moral dilemma theme of maintaining your "business" and protecting/providing for your family. The creator from this show is one of the writers from The Shield so it should follow in the same footsteps. The previews they were showing looked like it would definitely violent but they're no way psycho killers (I think...), like Don said it looks like they focus on brotherhood of biker gangs. What do you think the "business" is actually?
Typhus
What do you think the "business" is actually? Amphetamines. Bikers control the market in that stuff.
Kaiser_AK
At first I couldn't tell if you were serious or not but did a quick google search and found out bikers actually did play a big part in the amphetamine trade. Its like you called it, they have a long history with it and seem to have capitalized on it well. I'd like the show tackle this issue and even have a couple of characters cranked on the stuff. From reading around on their website, it looks like they also run a huge illegal arms business but I could see the drug issue taking a major role and a large part of their income. This show just got a little bit more interesting... what else do you predict for the show?
topdogkiller
Yea this show looks bad ass. Also that it written by the writer of the shield makes it a double plus.
thecommander
I'll watch anything on FX. So I'll be watching this, The Shield, and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Vive La France
When I went on vacation to California, I saw a crew shooting this series. A cop was walking into a school type building, and a guy in a suit pulls up in a taxi and talks to him. Then there was another scene with two guys moving tires into a van, standing next to a car mechanic shop. Was in Long Beach, by the way.
Kaiser_AK
Its true that FX has a lot of good shows, especially with this season bringing out The Shield's final season. Its got a lot of The Shield elements in this so it should be good. Also I read that Jay Karnes (Dutch from The Shield) is gonna be in this too as some law enforcement agent, he was my favorite character (well I guess tied with Vic) in the Shield. I heard some spin-off rumors for him after the Shield ended but I guess I can settle for his. I wouldn't be surprised if more Shield members came on board. Vive... did you get any sense of the show when you were there?

Vive... did you get any sense of the show when you were there? Sort of... The area where I saw the shooting was in Long Beach, CA. There were several trucks around the area from the studio, and everyone had monogram chairs that folded. One name I saw was "Theo Rossi" or something like that. The scene took place behind what appeared to be a police station, school, hospital, or something like that. The building had one story, and there was a cop walking down the street. A yellow taxi pulled up, and a man in a suit and sunglasses got out of the cab and called on him. I don't remember if he gave the guy I black duffel bag or not, but it sure seems like that. The second scene took place in a driveway. Two guys where loading tires into a van, and I think one guy was shot, but I don't remember because I was looking across the street. The guys where the bikers, and it was literally a block away from the school/police station. Then they got in the van, and drove away (I think) EDIT: OK, still working on those pics, but I found out who the guy in the suit was in the first scene I saw: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jay_Karnes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jay_Karnes) I'm pretty sure it's him, as he plays an ATF agent. I don't remember exactly what happened, but that is the best recollection I have. If I can find any, I might upload some pics I took (I don't even know if I had a camera on me, but if I did, I probably taped some of it). Archaon, Lord of End Times
I'm looking forward to this show myself. The commercials I've seen paint a good picture of what it'll be like. Kinda looks like "The Sopranos" meets the "Hell's Angels" to me.
Vive La France
I'm gonna try seeing on hulu to see the scenes I saw being filmed. (FX puts their stuff on Hulu, right?)
Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
Well I caught the first episode and I might stick with this show. Ron Pearlman was great, but I can already tell he's going to be the bad guy in this show. Kate Segal, the Married with Children chick, is a hardcore bitch in this which was entertaining to see. There was a beatdown, explosions, shootouts, etc. etc. in just episode 1. I can only imagine how the season's going to progress. The main character Jacks looks like he's going to make a nice conflicted protagonist. Give it a watch. It makes a nice companion piece to The Shield on Tuesday. Cold Shadow
The first episode was awesome. I liked the whole fight about the M4's, and I want to see what the Mayans and the Nords do to SAMCRO for killing their guys. I laughed when Clay started blasting people with the M4 he had. The first episode did a good job of hooking me in too, I guess I see that Ron Perlman as the bad guy angle, but it almost seems too easy and predictable. He plays a strong father role and Jax still seems like the new kid on the block. He's shown that he has more of a conscious but is no pansy when it comes to others dying or getting hurt, especially when it comes to protecting his hood. Lots of action in the first ep, which is a good sign and the next episode coming up on Wednesday looks to continue that. What do you guys think will happen to the murder investigation? Cops don't seem to have much power in the town and the threat seems to come more from other gangs. I'm also hoping to see more action from Drea de Matteo. Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
She really plays the junkie you love to hate. Loved it when Kate Segal straight-up threatened her in the hospital.

Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake
Man, this show is a winner. Episode 2 was fantastic, and I am a bit suprised by just how well written it is at the moment. Here's hoping it continues being awesome as this cast and the stories are just great. Archaon, Lord of End Times
Bit of a bump but, last night's episode was great. It involved a lot more MC culture as shown by the "patch over". I also liked how they brought up the inspiration of SAMCRO. And of course a lot of good action.
