You had better spare yourself the hardship and not get a copy GTA IV. Ot better yet, go buy a console. From what I gather; are you trying to say the console version looks better? Seriously if you have no constructive criticism whatsoever, then don't bother posting such blasphemy. Just take a look a the pre-release screens for the console versions and compare them. And before the game was out, people praised how good the game looked and now that IV is out, it makes the screenshots look sh*t in comparison; think about it. And don't worry graphic junkies; I was playing IV last night, cruising around Star Junction at night with the rain flowing; and trust me, I even forgot how good the game looked. And that's on my 'puney' 'Xbox360!

Hart
In fact those screens look worse than the console versions to me. Except for the one by the water with the guy in the trunk. The water and reflections look better there. But like mkey82 said we'll see when the time comes.

mkey82
ive never played crysis It's a nice title for graphic whores. It lacks a bit in the gameplay department, but it definitely isn't as bad as some people would like you to believe. If you don't have the PC to run, why shove into the gutter? In fact, if you haven't played it how can you judge it? (this is a general remark, not directed towards you -vilx-).

I played it @ all high with NO AA with 41 FPS average. This game sucks. I mean- I didn't even was so shocked by graphics like I was when I first seen Quake I and was like "OMG this is really 3D!". The graphics are nice, but nothing really revolutionary IMO. And the gameplay really sucks, so does the story. The physics are very strange, it's like the ragdoll turns off after you kill someone. o_O I mean- you can't move the body by shooting, you have to throw something big at it, and even then the body only slightly moves. But destroying buildings with "maximum strength" is fun, I admit.
Mr.Ruthless
And the gameplay really sucks, so does the story. Story wasn't so bad at the beginning, but when the aliens showed up, it became ridiculous.

Like I said, a nice tech demo. Which could run even on old machines. When you think about it, there was probably some foul play around Crysis. At gamespot it got a nice and fat 9.5. A bit too much. It even says "an amazing accomplishment overall". Maybe they felt the need to push it a bit to promote the "dieing" PC gaming.
topeira
And the gameplay really sucks, so does the story. Story wasn't so bad at the beginning, but when the aliens showed up, it became ridiculous. i think crysis had the best gameplay since STALKER (im a fan of stealth-to-action-to-stealth kinda-open environment shooters) but after the mine mission (mid way through thte game) it lost all of what made it great. the open endedness and the non linear combat and great humans where gone and made room for a much more generic shooter. lame. but i played the first half of the game more than 5 times on the hardest difficulty with mods to make it even harder and had a blast every time. also it had some nice user-made maps for SP and MP (but i never liked the MP in crysis so i couldnt be bothered). and the graphics are a matter of opinion. i loved crysis' graphics a lot. i thought they were better than the view from my window, not to mention i can't enable AA on my window, which is a pity also GTA IV's screenshots look worse than consoles cuz u see them really up close and with a really high res. the consoles SSs where low res in comparison so the messed up details were really show in such high fidelity. not to mention that most games look worse in SS than in motion for a reason almost similar to that. CJ_Vercetti
Crysis is good, I finished it at DX10 High, now I've lowered resolution to 1024x768 and play it on very high, but it was also nice at high... and I would always choose GTA even if it's only like crysis on medium than ultra very high sh*t of crysis... this is gonna be the best game ever... I saw a few months ago on engadget that ATI showed a demo of their movie-like games and the city looked incredile, that would make GTA world truly alive... but I guess we'll have to wait for next-gen GTA to see that

HeliosNYC
nothing compared to how much cleaner and better SA looked on PC compared to the PS2 version. iI have GTA 3, VC, and SA on consoles, and PC. I have hundreds of hours logged on both platforms for each game. can't stand the snobby attitude of these bitchy pc fanboys.

Now that the game is finally being ported to pc. These freaks are crying because it does not look good. My god it looks fricken great. It looks better than the 360 version so stfu NEWB! And it's just screen shots. there is no telling what the specs of the machine they used or what resolution they selected, that might even be min settings or default settings. I'm happy to get the game.. If you newbs don't like or want it Don't get it. that simple. If nintendo ported super mario brothers to pc, and polished up the graphics.. Yeah it's a bit of a bugger, a make do solution for now is to use the code tags like this :- http://ve3dmedia.ign.com/images/03/54/35490_GrandTheftAutoIVPC-06_normal.jpg That should make the url pastable at least so people can visit the site you want them to see. As for people saying the screens look worse than the console version !!!!!! seriously you should have gone to specsavers. There is clearly some slight improvement graphically with the PC screenshots. I am quite happy with them as long as they give us the ability to whack up the draw distance and minimise the god awful blur filter. People are allowed to have an opinion just because you disagree with it does not make them dickholes. A great many PC gamers realise that the PC version will be held back by the console version, just like it was in the GTA 3 era. I think they have every right to express their dissatisfaction with the game graphically if they are dissatisfied.

Ah yeah, forgot about the code tags. Thanks. Anyway, I just wanted to post a comparison. Console - http://media.gtanet.com/images/4737-gta-iv-screenshot.jpg PC - http://media.gtanet.com/images/5480-gta-iv-pc-screenshot.jpg There's an obvious, significant improvement in detail - especially within Niko's face. How anyone can be oblivious to that is pure madness. This may sound pretty stupid, but is everything topped to max when the screenshots are taken? mkey82
This may sound pretty stupid, but is everything topped to max when the screenshots are taken? There are no stupid questions only stupid answers. These screensshots are made in early development phase, so it could be anyone's guess. It's evident that if you want to promote your game, you will max it out to make it look the best possible. On other hand, if you want to show how it will look on an average gaming machine, then you might opt for medium settings. My point being, it's too early to tell anything concrete about it. Slamman
You do realise you can watch them high res ?http://pc.ign.com/dor/objects/14269673/gra...?page=mediaFull (http://pc.ign.com/dor/objects/14269673/grand-theft-auto-iv/images/grand-theft-auto-iv-20080820100259271.html?page=mediaFull) They look good. Damn, me needs Broadband for that!!! I would argue, the graphics will not be a major improvement because to do this game on the time table presented, the images are Already rendered. What we saw in Gamer's Edge, or whatever that industry rag is called, was the wire map and then the finished layout of the amusement park in Hove Beach, along the boardwalk. Just from those stills you have the idea of how sharp and detailed the game's inner workings are. I don't think these will represent best how the game will look on countless visual displays that vary. For one thing, How many have a Samsung 17inch 730B? I do and I will be using that for the visuals... They will differ, that's a given
