gamesguru
Those screens at 1920*1200 are they in their original size, or resized by GTA4.net or tiscali. I see the same screens in IGN and they have it in 1280*800 and it looks a little better. That's because they have been stretched.

mrgypsie
Great news. I'm so excited, can't wait until November. Then I can sit and play GTA IV while the snow falls outside.
TruXter
My big question. Is Can we disable the replay thingy so it isn't sucking up our ram saving and dumping that 31st second off every time the counter gets to it. My opinion, that's what made the previous games versions use what system resources they did back then
RATEDR307
I have a question for you PC gamers, how often do you have to upgrade your hardware to play the latest games on highest graphics settings and when you do how much do you spend?
TruXter
I have a question for you PC gamers, how often do you have to upgrade your hardware to play the latest games on highest graphics settings and when you do how much do you spend? Really, not as often as some like to brag and say they do. Typically if we can , we will turn down the settings to about console level. Untill the lowest settings are just to unbearable. I used to buy video cards like twice a year, I have now gotten good at it and do it every year and a half. about $59-$99 a card sometimes more. Processors get upgraded when I see something amazingly different. When I see something worth doing Like the jump to dual core, took forever. I saw everyone saying all this magical stuff about dual core and pci express, while my single core 64 bit w/ AGP kept chugging along. But I just got a new credit card a week ago I will upgrade when we get specs and scatter my old parts amongst the family members who need upgrading. SynTerro
I have a question for you PC gamers, how often do you have to upgrade your hardware to play the latest games on highest graphics settings and when you do how much do you spend? I'm not kidding here Aug 2003: New PC, budget 1300$(It's a rough number based what I think the currency was back then, using todays currency would be like 2000$ as NOK are stronger now compared to USD). It runned games fine until some games forced Pixel Shader 3. Yes it has been through some upgrades but these upgrades was HDD which has nothing to do with perfomance. Dec 2007: I decided to buy a completly new PC, I could have gone with just an upgrade but I had some extra cash so I decided to go for the whole package. On a 1920 width LCD, the pixels and jaggies fit perfectly with the pixels on my monitor. The smaller image looks better because some detail is lost and jaggies are blurred. Also because the "bob ross" effect is blurred as well... remember how much better the "MTV exclusive" screens looked before we got the full resolution versions? EDIT: They also look worse in full resolution because anti-aliasing was turned off for some reason (all console screens have it at 2XFSAA). Trooper911
The rest of the demo consisted of a playthrough of the Three-Leaf Clover mission seen in the console game. This was played using an Xbox 360 controller, and Rockstar confirmed you'll be able to choose this or the traditional keyboard option in the finished game. So we can use xbox360 controller or PS3 controller with the PC version...

gamesguru
So we can use xbox360 controller or PS3 controller with the PC version... Just Xbox. But you can easily find software or buy a PC equivalent to the PS Controller.

GTA_Godfather
Usually it will be just a graphics card (or two in my case), or a monitor, or a PS, or an optical drive, or a HD. If I'm going going to change the MB it will be MB/CPU/RAM. I upgrade more often than is necessary, but that's just me. I'd say I get a new part every 6 months or so on average. It also depends on pricing/availability/generational improvements of hardware. I hardly ever build a new PC from scratch. The beauty of it is that I can upgrade individual components as technology progresses, so I'm never far behind on any one component. Now, I have the E6600 Core 2 Duo CPU. That's probably my next upgrade. Good thing is that I could probably keep my 8GB of DDR-2 RAM. DDR-3 still only offers a little improvement for much more $$$, especially if you want 4-8 GB worth. Consoles? Hmm...will just have to throw them into the bin whenever the new one comes out and who knows how long that will be? In the meantime, their hardware gets more and more outdated and there isn't a thing anyone can do it about it. Pathetic.

DML
...and there isn't a thing anyone can do it about it. Well Microsoft are not falling behind. They're releasing the all new and improved 360...with a 60GB HDD instead of the 20GB. They are clearly at the cutting edge of technology. [/sarcasm] PCs had access to 500GB HDDs two years ago. Now 500GB, 640GB, 750GB, and even 1TB drives, are considered "normal" sizes. The XBox 360 is what? 2 years old, and the only thing they can upgrade is the size of the hard disk drive...and do a pretty poor job of it as well. More pathetic. SynTerro
If anyone saw the Sony press conf at E3 they said something like the new *** GB console(don't remember the number) shows that the console can continue to improve in performance. What the hell will improve in performance with expanded HDD unless it reads and writes faster.
thaCURSEDpie
I've taken a look at the screenshot at gta4.net.... The character's faces do look nice. But... Look here: http://media.gtanet.com/images/5476-gta-iv-pc-screenshot.jpg The distant land doesn't look nice (imo). And why are they releasing pics with no anti-aliasing?? That's just rediculous. EDIT: "Xbox 360 controller supported". So? I will just use my mouse + kb. And if i want to, I can even use my wii-remote.
gamesguru
To those getting their hopes up for big graphical improvements and bug fixes in Grand Theft Auto IV on PC: you may want to lower your expectations! German gaming site 4Players.de got a peek at IV PC during Games Convention in Leipzig and saw that not much has changed. As they watched a developer play the mission "Three Leaf Clover," 4Players noticed that the biggest improvement for the PC version of GTA IV is the high resolution (maximum 2560x1440 pixels). Even this comes with its drawbacks as it allows you to see some of the game's poorer textures. They mention it's a pity Rockstar Games hasn't made very many technical improvments, but they still believe there is no doubt the game will be a hit (via GTA Extreme.)
