GTA IV: The 1st GTA to not live up to the hype?

Actually I am VERY hyped for the next game as this is pretty much the foundations for the new GTA canon. GTA 3 started off the last canon and was very similiar to 4 (except graphics) in the way that it had hardly any features but every new game that came out had new features and eventually they got to SA which of course we all know is a fantastic game.

They pretty much have the graphics and everything all sorted and now they can focus on features for the next one which I think is gonna blow everyone away.

I really like this game and play online EVERDAY for HOURS and it brings me alot of fun.

It's just building blocks......

Absolutely. People are just impatient and think that every time a new game comes out, it should be the best thing they've ever played. Rockstar is starting on a new engine with new technology on a new system. They did the same with GTA III, but you don't see people complaining that GTA III had no features. We're just so spoiled from having the game become even bigger with each installment that when we don't get a whole country (which someone actually suggested they should have done), they whine and say that they'll never buy another GTA because R* ruined it. Of course, they always buy the next game because they have to admit that it's fun.

Damn good point. These discussions are pointless... but at the same time I can't look away. We need a poll. A simple poll, Which GTA is do you prefer? Two answers: SA or IV.

Hey there,

Anyone else notice that now GTA IV is out ( and you've played it to hell, single and multiplayer.... ) that GTA no longer really hypes you up?

The previous GTAs always kept me hyping for the next one, but I personally think R* has lost its old direction. I am a GTA fanboy.

It's really hard to say they have lost their direction, there was a lot of things done better in GTA IV than any other game before it.....some might even say it was the first true Next Gen title, though that is debatable.

The story line was better, the graphics were amazing some of the options were improved. Why wouldn't anyone be excited for the next one?

Well, the main problem is the new direction they decided to take GTA....the "realistic" one...the one that doesn't let me base jump, pimp hoes, own nice buildings, etc.

The idea behind it was good but not thoroughly thought out and honestly GTA IV is boring post game. This to me was the huge surprise.

I'm honest. I am not going to like a game just because of the name or because it is made by a certain company. I am not going to pretend that this game has more features then it does. I am barely even able to call GTA IV a sandbox game, which is sad since GTA defined and created the sandbox genre.

There are good pro's and con's against the sandbox statement I just made, but I think most true GTA players know what I mean.....where is the extra curricular activities, R*??

Anyways, this wasn't meant to be a rant.... I am just not really hyped like I used to be and haven't picked up the game for over a month. GTA San andreas was played under my roof for a year and a half. GTA IV?.... 2 months.....because I am bored.

That's about it.

Yeah, I expected better. Something more beyond my imagination. I found nothing like that in the game.

i dont think gta iv lived up to the hype but you have got to admit that this was a completly new approach to the gta series so its not going to be perfect is it but there will be dlc to add more features and stuff

I think Rockstar has learned from there mistake big time.

They start releasing information , six months prior to GTA IV and people had there hopes really high. confused.gif

But with DLC less then two months away they are quite and will release a final version. dozingoff.gif

I actually kind of mean that, which kinda makes me sad.

I tell you what I dont like about GTA IV. When you shoot the f*ck out of a ped and they're on the floor. Then they start moving and get back up and walk off. Stay down when I shoot you ffs.

Can you imagine the beauty that could be a new Vice City? It would blow everyone away.

Get the f*ck outta here ApplePie, yall internet GTA fans make me sick wanting to re-do every f*cking city. You need to let go off that Vice City sh*t. Yall people on GTAforums are so f*cking redundant. If Rockstar read this forum then GTA5 is gonna be even worse than 4. I dont think half yall motherf*ckers even go outside cuz in case yall aint notice we got a big ass f*cking world outside and a ton of other cities in America to do that have more crime than the ones already used. So if all yall want is Miami, New York, and Los Angeles you need to f*cking expand. And so does the GTA franchise or this sh*t will die.

While I agree with the idea that a remade old city is redundant and dumb I'd still want a new Los Santos. But Chicago is what I really want as a new city.

Also you need to take it easy.

i bet if R* made the next game have the same stuff as SA people would call it sh*t.

just face it. there is always going to be people who complain for no reason.

It isn't the "same-city" concerns that bore me with the game. It is the lack of stuff to do and personally I don't think it had the replayability of the old games.

I am sure that the next games will be better (one would only hope) but I think the Peds need to be better, The cops not so sensitive (so you can be a maniac for more than a few seconds), and fun things to do (lots and lots of them) that would keep me interested.

Everyone in the forum thinks this is a GTAIV hate post, it simply isn't.

I want to rob houses, jump out of planes, customize my rides, own properties/run businesses, god must I say more....

I beat GTA IV awhile back... so what can I do now?

Hmm..

shoot stuff

Steal a vehicle.

Fly really high n jump out

watch something Ive seen a million time (I.E. the TV)

Well you get the point.
