GCSE results

Post here if you're getting your results on the 21st of August. Are you looking forward to it or nervous? I'm a bit of both because I need at least 5 A-C's but am looking forward to it because I put loads of effort in. turn.gif

I am, however only maths as I took it a year early. I'm expected to get an A which I was getting in practice papers.

Having a bubble? GCSEs are easy as pie.

I myself have the equivalent to about 17 of em spread out over 11 GCSEs and 2 BTECs (Aviation (worth 2) and Public Services (worth 4)).

Mostly Bs, a fair few As and 1 C. I was lazy at GCSE anyway. A-level results were much better.

Good luck though icon14.gif

Im getting my results fro my maths exam thats worth 30% i think. It was data handling and very easy but i think i messed up at the ned so i might get a B so i might have to retake it. On the bright side im 15 in 50 minutes! (im taking it a year early too)

You were meant to say 49minutes. Maths = Fail!

Bad grammar and spelling, I can see. English = Fail!

Only joking. I got an A in English (good at original writing; as always tounge2.gif ), A in Geography and a B in P.E Theory when I took my mocks. So I hope I get the same for the proper; and apparently the mocks are actually harder.

Additionally, I use to get straight Cs (and few Bs) in Science, but since this crappy new teacher [jerk], I've been slipping into a D. Oh well; as long as I can take I.T Computing one day (for games design/programming). Also, I was hitting a distinction 'back in the day' (equivalent to an A) in I.T, but it's now a C (pass) due to us getting new teachers (4 in total!) who, either don't know what they're doing or reveal that we have more work we haven't been told about (which pretty much screws up my chances of doing I.T Computing this year cryani.gif ).

Looks like we share the same birthday.

Right now, I honestly havn't thought about my results. I'll wake up Thursday morning and go "Holy sh*t" but right now, it's the last thing on my mind. Hoping for 2 A's (I get £100 for every A) then I've got cash for Reading next year.

£100!!!???

I get only £10 for each A I get and £20 for A*. sad.gif

Oh well as long as I get more than C's I wont lose money...

What's this about getting money for As!

Is this only certain places, or have some people higher up been hiding something from me. orly.gif

For £10 it's hardly worth doing. Thats a sh*t incentive to work harder. You can find that much lying on the street.

I got nothing for school work.

Amen. whatsthat.gif

Isn't the idea that you do the exams for yourselves, ya know, your futures and everything? Irritatingly, at £100/A grade, I'd have been over a grand up.

Good luck and stuff though. Then you have the joys of A-Levels to look forward to.

adam broke it.

And what results did you end up with?

Neither did I and I got 5 A*'s 4 A's and 2 B's, money now doesn't motivate me, I'm more interested in working hard so I can have a bright future.

Don't worry about them lads, worrying won't change the results, there isn't much you can do now.. So don't worry, be happy

Im taking all the compulsory subjects plus triple sciences,IT and RS and french(anguage college)

I wish i was getting payed for As. I hope to get As and A*s for all except english where a B will be fineand frech where I just want to pass cause that subject gives me nightmares. Im barely working at a D level... English is nothing but deconstructing poetry crap and essays which ae hard as hell. My teacher can find the meaning of life from2 sentences. As for essays I recently spent hours working my but off and only scraped a C... But the others are ok right now. (1 min left till my bday...)

Aye I never got it why people got rewards for schoolwork. My mate got bought a car for passing his GCSEs with worse grades than me, I got..well, nothing, as it should be. That £100 or so quid don't mean sh*t in the long run, getting the grades in the 1st place is what matters.

For my A-levels I really did get sweet FA as I got my results around the same time as my birthday but as I was in the sh*t for going off the rail at my parents I didn't even get a card from em. f*ck this reward sh*t. On the other hand my reward was getting onto a Masters at Loughborough University, which I stuck at for...a term. Uni ain't for me.

Spoiled kids. tounge.gif lucky that you get cash for A's and sh*t.

I've never gotten rewards when I gotten good grades in the past. As a matter of fact I got sh*t taken away and my ass kicked if I did the opposite (Ds and Fs). Money doesn't motivate to get good grades. What motivates me to get good grades is to go the uni of my dreams and maybe get a scholarship like my older bro did in the future.

I got sh*t all for my GCSEs and I was expecting the same. But with no time or energy wasted on Revision I got 1A* 7As and a B.

I know the build up to getting your results is scary but honestly, once you get them and you see how much better your results are than what you were expecting you will realise that GCSEs are big load of bollocks.

And to all of you who actually put effort into revision, you have nothing to worry about, you will do brilliantly and get the results you deserve, looking back I wish I had made that effort, who knows what I could have achieved?

So yeah, I know it seems scary now, but come Thursday, you will see what we mean and it will all be over by 10am, leaving you the rest of the day to get pissed. tounge.gif

Good luck.

I wasn't really nervous or anything untill today, guess its just becasue its tommorow. But I already have 3 C's in Maths, ICT and Science. I need one more, preferably in English so then I will only need to do 4 days a week at college. If not I have to do English on Fridays at college. Doubt I did though..

I ended up with a Wii for getting 2 A's and the rest B's for my GCSEs. The thing is i didn't even know I'd get one or particularly gave a reward much of a thought until my dad asked what I wanted. Which is funny becuase it wasn't used as a tool of motivation, so i'm with the old kids on this one ph34r.gif

When I finished my GCSE's, I think I came out with virtually all B Grades, and what reward did my father bestow upon me? A clip round the ear and a great bit of motivational speaking along the lines of "if you get fecking results like this next year, the clip will be a lot harder to knock some sense into you, you should be getting all the top grades, you see in my day *enter rambling story about my fathers GCE's here* so that's why you'd better bleeding do well." Best motivational speech ever made. It hit me hard...

Anyway, good luck on all those doing GCSE's, and if you don't get what you set out to obtain it isn't the end of the world. You can resit your GCSE's the following year while in College/Sixth Form or in your spare time if you don't wish to stay on at an educational establishment. Also GCSE's are basically a dry-run to get you ready for the real exams in AS/A-Levels, so if you do badly due to regulated lazy-ness, give yourself a good kick up the arse and get ready to work your arse off next year, because it'll be worth it in the long run.

I did average in my English coursework, getting mostly B's and the occasional C, but in other subjects I got mostly A's. It took some strain off the exams, especially electronics as the coursework was worth 60% and I got an A in it. I'm quite looking forward to getting the results now, and thanks for the good luck's. smile.gif

Aye. Even in a sh*tty untrained job, if you've got A-levels, they basically ignore your GCSEs
