Dialogue missing..

Hey guys,

 

My GTA San andreas has been fine for a long time now but I took a break from it and yesterday when I decided I wanted to play again I noticed a problem had developed.

 

During the mission cutscenes where the characters are animated, the dialogue plays fine. But whenever there is mission-related dialogue played during a mission, the audio for it doesn't play. The subtitles play, and the missions work normally, but there's no spoken words from Smoke, Ryder, cell phone calls etc.

 

Random npcs that talk to you will still come through, as do other FX sounds and ambiance.

 

I'm thinking perhaps an audio file became corrupted. Is this something I can fix without reinstalling the game?

Do you have your Sound Acceleration to full? Try lowering it completely and see if it works.

Ummm I don't remember seeing that setting in the audio options menu ingame. Where might I find it?

Start > Run > Type 'dxdiag' > OK > Click on Sound tab and slide the acceleration bar to the left.

 

If that doesn't help, you'll have to reinstall and delete the set file from the User Files folder.
