While playing vice city on the xbox 360, when i tried to do the rc Baron mission on the top of the multi story car park, when you start the mission, the screen gets really strange artefacts all over it. The are normally either bright blue, grey, or sometimes even black (but black only happened once). They usually aren't bad enough to cover the whole screen, and so you can still complete the mission - and they go away after a short while normally too (although not always - sometimes they stay with you throughout the mission, and when they are "black" it tends to be worse, covering the whole screen).

I am just wondering what is causing this problem. Is it bad emulation because the 360 only has crap software emulation (I am thinking this is why both gta3 and vice city both have reasonably bad slowdown issues on it too)?

Or could the problem be due to the disk being a bit scratched - I bought it second hand because I couldn't find it anyway, and it did not have maps and only had the manual for vice city (thankfully I have gta 3 for the pc anyway, but that doesn't help for a vice city map tounge.gif the one ingame not being as handy). I don't think it's cos it's scratched though - as the emulation seems a more likely thing and the game seems to play find apart from that (although both gta3 and vice play a "spark" of audio noise sometimes for less than half a second, but i am almost 100% sure that is an emulation issue).

So yer, could anyone else with gta vice for xbox and that has an xbox 360 please test this out to see if it happens to you too? smile.gif Thanks

Hmm no one? Also, I noticed that it seems to happen just when you are 30 - 50 metres and less behind of a competitor plane. When you get ahead of them or far enough behind then it seems to go away.

It happens on my version of Vice City on the XBOX360 too, so I think it is just a problem on this particular emulation of the game. Like you said, it's not a very big deal and the mission can still be completed. Also you may notice random FPS drops while playing, which is also due to the emulation of the game. Other than that, the game works just fine. GTA III also expiriences the FPS drops, but San Andreas works just as good as the PC version on my XBOX360.

By the way, are you playing just Vice City, the double pack, or the trilogy. I don't think it matters since they are all the same emulation of the games, but I'm using Vice City from the XBOX trilogy.
