king surfer
Intimacy I've been a huge fan of Bloc Party for ages now yet after hearing Mercury I was turned right off them. My hopes for Intimacy were fairly low but after hearing Trojan Horse on their Myspace page just now I've turned completely around. Looks like they're going back to a bit of the Silent Alarm sound which is where it's at. Comes out digitally on the 21st. Can't wait. Tony Mozzarelli 80
Silent alarm wasn't bad, haven't heard any others though. They have a pretty original sound but the singer could do with being a little less whiney
Rhoda
Bloody hell, this has either been rarely advertised or my new music radar needs new batteries. I'm a fan of Bloc Party (both Silent Alarm and the more dance orientated "Flux") so I hope this doesn't do the ol' "third album flutter" and be absolute crap. Yet another band to go down the downloading route.
TenaciousD.
They only announced the album a few days ago I think, on a webcast or something. Weird how quick its going to be available after the announcment. A lot of fans will have it by tommorow morning if they pre-order it. First time I heard Mercury I hated it, but it's grown on me. Trojan Horse is ace though, even from first listen.
Rhoda
I suppose this sudden move explains why Bloc Party's spot at Leeds Festival this weekend is so high. Many die hard fans will already own by the time they get to the festival. Good move.

Rhoda
Leeds is the fools Reading. Quite the opposite Us northerners really know how to rock Too true. London gets things around two weeks slower than the North. But anyway, I heard Mercury earlier and I'm glad they're taking the dance direction, I loved Flux. I wonder if there'll be calling for a remix like Silent Alarm received.
Parky.
Let Boys Noize and all that crew grab a hold of the records, give it a month or so and they'll be remixes hitting every dance floor around the globe of these songs. Awseome
Cubanwhip
I love Bloc Party for the fact that they're daring to be different. Silent Alarm was gold. The catchy guitar riffs were fantastic. It's my all time favorite album, and it's always in my car's stereo system. Then they released A Weekend in the City, and it moved away from Silent Alarm and incorporated a more electronic, synth type of thing, with mellower songs. Most people dislike this album, but I enjoy it very much. Now Intimacy is there third album, and their adventure into electronic and trance beats, and I must say, it's brilliant. Each and every song is brilliant and refreshing. When I first heard Mercury, I was a bit hesitant and wondering what Bloc Party was doing. But I left it on repeat one day while doing some college essays, and eventually I started singing along and it had grown on me. It's quite a good tune. Then Trojan Horse, the next song released from the album, was a step back into the days of Silent Alarm, with a bit of A Weekend in the City mixed in, and I had a new faith in them. With the release of the album, I was eager like a child on Christmas morning, but when Ares first played, I didn't know what was happening. That seems to be the only song that I dislike, but there's always that one song. Followed by Mercury, then Halo, my favorite. Halo is definitely one of those songs that reminds you of Silent Alarm and sounds like good ole Bloc Party. It's then preceded by Biko, which isn't really stand outish, it's just your average Bloc Ballad, with a nice rhythm that makes calms you. I must admit though, some of the song placement is wrong. Such as Biko being inbetween Halo and Trojan Horse. It seems too out of place, and would have done better at the end of the album with Better Than Heaven and Ion Square. Signs follows Trojan and seems to follow the same road as Biko with the soft melody playing, and also seems misplaced between Trojan Horse and One Month Off. And speaking of One Month Off, that is my second favorite song off the album. It is more from the A Weekend era, but it's still has the strong guitar riffs and drums coupled with bass to give it the Silent Alarm feel. Zepherus marks the slowing of the album and I would have probably placed Biko after it, followed by Better Than Heaven, then Signs, and to end it, Ion Square. Out of the final songs, I think Ion Square is the only one worth mentioning because it's my third favorite song off the album, and it's the longest song on the album and just a great song altogether. Altogether, I give Intimacy about maybe a 7 or 8 out of 10. Bloc Party is definitely a band that dares to be different and ends up delivering with some great and catchy tunes. The only weak point of the album would be the ordering of the songs, maybe it can be fixed when the physical disc comes out October.
king surfer
I think Ares is pretty good. Real dancey but still old school Bloc Party. Trojan Horse, Halo and One Month Off are the standout tunes for me just because they're proper Silent Alarm-esque. Saying that, I really like Signs and Ion Square for being more melodic and emotional. Can't really fault much on the album.
Goodfella.
Better Than Heaven, Signs and Halo are my favourites at the moment. Can't wait 'till October for the physical release, as there'll be more tracks added on.
Sauron
mega bump. I couldn't be bothered finding the general Bloc Party thread that is if there even is one. I'm looking for a remix of Banquet I heard the other night, I thought the radio guy said the remix was by hump daddy or something along those lines but I cannot find it anywhere. So if anyone has it please point me in the right direction For some more related news I think the intimacy remixed album has been released in the past few days? The signs remix is p awesome. Rhoda
I do know there's an Silent Alarm: Remixed, made and released much in the same way of Intimacy: Remixed, though the latter obviously came much later than the former. I decided to look on there for your remix but I only found the Phones Disco Edit remix, and I don't think that's what you're after.
Pr0xy_fl00d3r
I dislike them, why they were on Guitar hero 3: Legends of rock is completely beyond me, how they are legends will always confuse me as I only heard of them from that game. Lydon owned their lead singer I heard, pretty funny.
Rhoda
I dislike them, why they were on Guitar hero 3: Legends of rock is completely beyond me... Now that I disagree with, but I think that "legend" term is bounced around a lot. I think they're referred to as legends simply because they've had a song in a Guitar Hero game before (III I believe), and it was a popular one to play. Goodfella.
Lydon owned their lead singer I heard, pretty funny. Lydon didn't own anyone you fool, and it was Lydon's goons who started the whole thing by throwing around racist taunts. Lydon's a washed up butter-pushing twat anyway. Sauron, I have a ton of Banquet remixes but the one you're speaking of doesn't ring a bell. If you can describe it a bit I might be able to figure it out. I don't like Intimacy Remixed much. Phones' mix of Talons is awesome though.
Sauron
I found it, Banquet Hump Day Remix, not as good as I first thought but an aight remix.
Lethal Nizzle
I've had this album for a while and I still love listening to it, mainly Biko, Trojan Horse and Halo. The guitar work on TH is immense, and the intro really stands out amongst most of their songs.
Larcen
for starters, i had no idea that the lead singer was black. that was interesting to find out. i've heard the main singles (banquet, 2 more years, etc.) but i saw them on austin city limits a few nights ago playing sh*t from their second album. i liked their live performance. so i'm starting from jump street, and i'm listening to their first (and best?) album, silent alarm, and it is f*cking magnificent. do the others measure up? Yeah Kele's parents are Nigerian. He's a pretty good lyricist & they're superb live. Silent Alarm is one of my fave albums. Weekend in the city is all right too. Have to admit Intimacy doesn't really measure up to the first two because it's quite different but I actually like the electonic direction they took.
