We wish.

Right now it's all speculation.

There are threads here and blogs on the net about what is accepted.

One thing I learned to look at, do not go for lowest qualified specs. On anything.

and sometimes best isn't good enough.. Not to scare you. Because sometimes a not so perfect machine, is just perfect

for gta.

Best bet right now, Is camp on your cash. I know, it's hard to do. but camp out on it for a couple weeks or so, meanwhile gather what you can to add to that "gta pc" cash. You want a tad bit of over kill, just in case DLC for pc happens, and it soaks up more resources.

That's just me fear mongering, anticipate the worst, it's hard for fate to let you down..

good safe zone , less than two year old video card model (hope you get what I mean)

2-3 gigs ram

3-4 gig processor single-dual quad, what ever

600-800 fsb

8m cache hd

If you can, learn what optimal temperature your CPU and video processor run at.

Research on how to drop about ten degrees. Safest overclocking, is excess cooling

unless you cool it to much.

When all else fails try

running minimal on resources.

Black Viper

Oh and to the dudes above,,, please don't flame in this thread.

I created so we can help.

We are all just GTA gamers in here.

Well, I'm one of the lucky few that owns a PS3 and decent PC. While The PC GTAIV looks nice I don't think I'll be buying a copy.

One of the main reasons I love the GTA games is they are fun to play in the living room with a group of friends. Passing around the controller and going on rampages. It's a good laugh and a social thing. PC gaming tends to be more solo for me.

On the other hand, if the PC version turns out to be highly modifiable and people start releasing insane mods, then I will be tempted to get a copy for that.

I'm a console gamer. Yes PC looks better. Is that a big deal? Nope

I'm not wasting a thousand dollars on a new computer to play GTA4 on PC which I already have on the 360

1000 dollars... NO !!!

My friend bought a super computer for 550 bucks...

A 8800GT, 2Gig, ASUS MoBo, Quad Core 6600, Windows Vista Ultimate...

You have to know what/where/when to buy a computer...

Yeah, I found a returned computer at Best Buy for $450. AMD Anthlon 5000+ X2, 4 GB of RAM, 8800GTS, and Windows Vista Premium. All because a USB port, out of 6, wouldn't work, and the CD drive was busted. Not bad considering that kind of computer costs about $700-$800.

VC looked better on the Xbox. Unmodded, that is.

Then why dont you mention it in GTA VC topic ... dozingoff.gif

It has been mentioned there. A million times.

You don't need a $1000 computer to play PC games, that's excessive.

You could get a decent one for like $5-600, and our games tend to be about $20 cheaper on average, and their prices drop much faster than their console counterparts.

What was your old system? And Synthetic benchmarks aren't always accurate ways to measure performance. At any rate, try updating drivers.

Just as there are pc gamers who end up selling everything to go buying a console for a specific game.

I am wondering Who owns a PlayStation 3 and or xbox 360 Who are going to sell their console to buy

a pc. Or have already. Just to play GtaIV On pc.

Well, besides the fact that I have a ps3 as well as a pc, I wouldn't just sell my ps3 for a pc. I personally prefer consoles because its easier for me rather than keyboards. The only reason I would do that is because of all of the cool mods. And I doubt that anyone would sell their consoles to buy a pc.

I'm not seeing the light, I only see that my X360 is way cheaper than a new PC. Btw I don't really care about the graphics, it's fine the way it looks. So yeah, I'm not seeing the light. Though I must admit higher res textures give me an erection.

Not if you buy used, many games on play.com for £10 or so for 360, gta4 is currently £17.99

Not true, PC games are expensive as sh*t here, oh and my PC could hardly even run most of them.

I love the way console gamers come back and go "oh PC games are just as expensive". There are most certainly NOT for one reason MS and Sony take a $10 - $15 cut from EVERY game that is sold regardless of whether they have anything to do with the game or not. It is called a royalty, yep you pay $300 to $400 for your console to start with then every game you buy you pay an extra $10 - $15 for the "dubious" honour of playing a game on your purchase.

There is of course no royalty fee on the PC when you purchase a game MS can not dip their hand into the pot. In the UK the prices are as followed :-

GTA IV for the 360 = £39.99

GTA IV for the PS3 = £39.99

GTA IV for the PC = £24.99

I personally prefer the cost model that the PC uses. I would much rather pay for all my hardware up front and get cheaper games rather than the console approach where you put down a "down" payment and never stop paying for your machines.

Why does price even f*cking matter? Seriously, you save 15 dollars, good for you. I don't really see how that matters in a Console vs. PC war. Sure it is good cannon fodder, but in reality piracy is also what kills games being made for the PC. Sure people can do things to prevent it, but that doesn't mean that they can fully stop it. I think the lower prices are meant to stop piracy, but it really hasn't.

But your fair share as to why you think is best.

So you didn't actually bother to read what I put then ? There is a reason why PC games are cheaper. It has NOTHING to do with piracy and everything to do with the fact there is NO royalty fee for games on the PC.

As for big deal PC games are cheaper, erm yeah do the maths matey you buy 10 games and you have saved yourself $150. So if you look at just one game and think "WOW only $15 saved" if you buy an awful lot of games those $15 mount up into a princely sum.

wow.gif Sorry, I didn't read your post. I was to busy scrolling to read, my bad. But I see what you mean by the royalties thing. Sure they get a cut, but I am surprised M$ doesn't start doing that with PC games aswell (play on Windows, you pay Windows). Altough I have never seen a person go out and buy 10 PC games at once, maybe 2 or 3 if there is a sale, but still, $15 isn't enough for me to go and throw a parade.

A royalty scheme on the PC would be impossible. It is only possible on a console because Sony/MS control every aspect of the console. The PC is about as open as you can get (hence the piracy problems) anyone anywhere can produce a game on the PC and all they need is a PC. To produce a game on the console you need a specialist development kit only available from the console manufacturer, you will need to put your game up for certification by the console manufacturer and finally the console manufacturer is the only one that can provide you with the physical discs to ship your game on.

As for the games being cheaper, I buy on average 1 game a month (sometimes 2 if there is anything decent) which means by the end of the year because I buy PC games I am nearly $200 better off than I would be if I bought the console versions. So ask yourself what could I do with that 200 bucks ? Well that looks just enough to do a decent GPU upgrade biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif See where I am coming from here.

If you look at consoles in the short term they are cheaper because you don't have to pay so much at the start of the consoles life. However it gets pretty expensive in the long term. With a PC it is more expensive in the short term but evens itself out over the life of the machine. I personally say that both console and PC gaming come out at around the same amount price wise. But with the PC you get access to better tech quicker than you would with a console.

However it is horses for courses, I got a 360 to play GTA 4. It is my first ever console and I can tell you now it will be my last console. If I had a PC running games like the 360 I would have upgraded it a long long time ago. I am just so thankful that GTA 4 is coming to the PC and I can now truly appreciate it.

^ here here, was a proud console owner until i was 16, i don't think i could go back to it, it'd be like going from living in a mansion, to living in a shack, i do like the simplicity of a console, but it's just not for me. monocle.gif

Then maybe you would like to come down here and see these absurd prices here? Btw I don't care which GTA is better and I must say I laugh at how you all fight this console vs PC war. I bought a console because I can't afford a new PC, it's way too expensive, I paid 1000 Lt for an Xbox 360, a good PC here costs 3000 Lt minimum, and I'm not speaking about the PC that you gather your self by buying different parts, that would be even more expensive, a GPU udgrade would cost me 2000Lt if I would want to upgrade my current PC, it's really expensive for me when al I get is 3000Lt a month and I have to pay these crazy bills! so what would you choose? I don't care about the graphics, I don't care about the "Omg there is no mouse, it sucks!". It's the other way around here with PC games, they are way more expensive because no one buys them, they pirate them!

^I don't know what currency that is, but in the US it's possible to BUILD a good PC for ~$600 (about twice the price of the average $300 Xbox 360), and if you already had a decent one it's only about a $100 upgrade.

i would make the switch, but 512 megs isn't good for running much but SPORE, Morrowind and good old San anny. plus most of the components on my trusty HP pavilion are integrated.
