deycash
thought I'd bring up the RNB topic, if there isn't any. Sorry if there is already a topic, but lets discuss Offical. (YN) Who's your favorite RNB Artist? Favorite RNB song? so, let the discussion begin. EDIT: I just noticed I placed this in the wrong forum, moderator/administration pls move. =]
Picolini
K, well you're new here so I'll give you some tips. If you've got an interest in a specific thing, check the forums to the left, in the list. For instance there is a Music Chat forum already, so this post should go there. And another tip, search around for threads already like the one you want to make. Use the Search feature which can be found near the top of the list at the left, as well. Tony Mozzarelli 80
i thought it was "Rythm and Blues" Yeah it is, but i don't think it matters since RnB is defined pretty broadly these days to include anything sung by a black person that isn't rap. Tony Mozzarelli 80
That's why it's best to pay little attention to the labels given to different styles, since they seldom remain essential categories. f*ck it it's all music at the end of the day
Statutory Ray
i thought it was "Rythm and Blues" Yeah it is, but i don't think it matters since RnB is defined pretty broadly these days to include anything sung by a black person that isn't rap. *im like the native american with a tear in his eye..* how ever did it go from this ... to... this ... When the hell were The Who ever R&B? R&B was, from the beginning, a racial term. It's been applied to a bunch of different styles, ranging from jazz/blues influenced, to funk influenced, to disco influenced, but has been predominantly produced and consumed by black people. The Who were NEVER R&B or anything ever called R&B. The only reference to The Who and R&B is the fact that they had a documentary and box-set named "Maximum R&B." Tony Mozzarelli 80
Exactly why you can't really rely on the name of any genre, as their definitions are often too fluid. As i'm sure you'll agree the origins of R&B were worlds apart from the style of music to which the term is applied today. Musical genre isn't really exclusive to any race really. deycash
Yeh. but R&B music is like the slow type, and it indends to calm you down, go to youtube and search Jay Sean, he sings R&B music.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R&B
