kieranefc Posted August 18, 2008 Share Posted August 18, 2008 (edited) Ive never seen the orginnal italian job but i know about how iconic it is but my mate had the remake so i thought i would watch it as i like charlize theron so i was thinking it will probably be another car chase crappy teen movie but i have to say its a realy decent film, its exciting all the way threwout the stunts and chases are realy good and its just an all round good film, it shares the same name as the original but apart from it being about a group of expert theifs who steal hundreds of gold bricks in a heist its a different story line, so id give it 7/10, no ill give it an extra mark because of charlize theron 8/10 Edited August 19, 2008 by kieranefc Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I never saw the re-make, but I saw part of the original, I enjoyed it very much, if only the torrent movie hadn't stopped downloading playing, I could have saw the whole thing. Posted August 18, 2008 Share Posted August 18, 2008 If you judge it by itself, having never seen the original then it is an alright film I think, I watched it a few weeks ago on DVD and enjoyed watching it, however if you see it after seeing the original then it does not even come close to matching it. Big stars, big budget set pieces and a dire script to completely annihilate the youth of today towards the classic Collinson (and in my mind only real) Italian Job. To be fair anything with Jason Statham and Mark Wahlberg in the lead roles was bound to be poor anyway, yet the worst thing was people actually went to see this dire, dire film. It's mind-boggling really when the original is one of the great British crime-caper films (and it included Noel Coward). COME ON! THE OLD ONES ARE WHERE ITS AT!! sorry about the capitals but i really hate this film, shouldnt even be classed as a remake and adding to the list of memberable lines: 'hang on a minuite lads, ive got a great idea! ermmm.......'
