Picolini
Really, try to use periods and commas. It helps. A lot. What I'm getting is you tried to open multiple windows or tabs to browse several pages at once and it will only load on window/tab? That's what I make out of your post. If I'm wrong, try to explain it better. If I'm right, I have no clue what to tell you. Are you using FireFox or Internet Explorer?

Democrab
Get firefox and use Tabbed Browsing instead. (Or, use Tabbed Browsing on Internet Explorer 7.)

Star-Lord
im using internet explorer i dont open them all at once after i open one i cant open any more. Go to TOOLS+INTERNET OPTIONS at GENERAL and delete all the homepage entries HIT APPLY then OK, most likely you'll have more than one HOMEPAGE there. OR: Get FireFox

Slamman
Do you know the required Hot Keys that work on most browser apps? If not use those to switch and manipulate open windows, that is the Alt and Tab keys and Ctrl-W as well to close a single open page. You might try minimizing and switching with Tab and Alt to find out what's open. I do if I find a freeze up while online.

Slamman
Unfortunately, Internet Explorer has been ingrained DEEP in Windows since Win95, hense the AntiTrust suit to break up the company into a division solely running the Internet software aspect. Gates donated a massive amount to charity in lieu of that. IIRC Anywho, TABs are about the best feature alt. browsers EVER brought to the table and IE is still no match for the other two!! I am confounded they can't just copy that in some fashion, it becomes second nature. On dialup I use AOL which share IE components. I'd say to run a IE install which won't replace but rather repair (two options are prompted) and it can detect deficiencies and download/install replacement files... to the best of my understanding. Don't shy away from trying this, or downloading those alternative browsers... You'll find you can have them all open at once giving you three seperate portals to the Net/WWW!!! Slamman
I DL'd Safari on ONE XP install and it looks nice, but most of Apples' interfaces only look nice now to a jaded Windows user like me. Their functionality I spit at! haha Safari is also plagued by some hacker vulnerability. Keep in mind, hackers are reportedly turning their attention to Firefox, so keep protection ON! Slamman
In MS's IE, the Homepage is set under Internet Settings in the Control Panel, only one is optional. For each browser, you can assign a different one. Do what I did and have all of the browser installers archived on your drive, replace them twice a year, at most. Crokey
OK Enough of this 'Get Firefox' bandwagon'ing. He could like Internet Explorer Internet Explorer is broke and needs fixing, you need to have a legal copy of Windows for this fix to work, if you don't then I might as well jump on the bandwagon. First Go to the Microsoft Website and download a stand alone version of Internet Explorer 7 here Then make sure your anti-virus/anti-spyware programs are up to date (I do recommend Spybot) Then uninstall Internet Explorer, this can be done via Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall Internet Explorer. Then run your Spyware Scans and Anti-Virus scans Then re-install Internet Explorer and you should be done. The basic problem you have is that Internet Explorer is broken and a re-install does the job 9 times out of 10, the virus/spy scan is just to be safe. After you've done that run another scan and defrag your hard drive and run Disk Cleanup.
Slamman
That's all fine and good, but I ran Windows XP SP3 installer, and it has IE contained within, and should do the job, if already installed, uninstall and start over. You can always "rinse and repeat"!

crazymodder
thats not workin to i click the checkbox and click next and it does nothing you need to untick the IE and other important components, you need to tick it.
Slamman
Tick it?? Click the check box, makes more sense. The thing is, it will not UNinstall, to my knowledge, reason being is it is tied into the OS, as mentioned, since Win95, and the reasoning MS was faced with monopoly charges... Other browser makers like Netscape, the chief competitor to Internet Explorer was up in odds about that situation. Eventually, it just got tied into AOL! haha I had tried to use it after identity theft on eBay and couldn't. They share too many resources! It should allow you to fix or upgrade it by running the Add /Remove. I hope you just tried an IE disc or download?? In fact, PeoplePC's software for ISP services USED to include the latest IE so if you ran it, it would check for old ones and install components. Should work like DirectX does, so it upgrades when you EXEecute the file.
