Increasing the waist size

I had a friend who wanted to increase his waist size(not look fatty) as he recently noticed that his body is not proportional. His waist is too small compared to his shoulder. He had a few problems when dealing with clothing etc..

Any ideas about solving this problem?

Or any exercises which should be done?

Accurate answers if possible.

Thanks.

Ain't you the guy who wanted to act like a mafia boss in school?

Anyway, "your friend" could use some training and whatnot. Gym is always a good place. Maybe even a private coach in the gym. If the gym offers one of those

You'd have to increase your overall BMA, and get fitter. Squats, sit ups and weighted side bends would probably help you... I mean your friend.

just go to a gym (not one of these "slim fast" or "quick fit" places) but a hard-knock steel and muscle gyms, and use EVERYTHING for about 3 hours in all (so your training your hole body) and you'll look like a male warrior in no time rofl.

Why do you hope he's joking? I'm a rock god of 3years, he gave some good advice. Three hours is the optimum amout of time you want to spend in a training session. Your body will max out after that and it's pointless to go on. You shouldn't spend more than a half hour working on one particular body part though. Neal40000 actually gave some sound advice.

I actually laughed hard. Especially coming from a "bodybuilder". The advice he is giving the OP is to go to the gym and train every other day (Mon, Wed, Fri) for 3 hours each time and he will gain muscle. This couldn't be farther away from the truth. Training for three days and each day consists of three hours, will result in 6 hours working out in the week. Which is considered over training. Since the healthy number is up to 5. In which you actually get opposite results, instead of gaining muscle, you begin to lose muscle because you're body can't keep up. You hit a plateau and decline.

Therefore, when I said that I hoped he was joking, was because if the OP gave this advice to his friend, it would backfire and hurt him instead of helping him.

You alternate between muscle groups, I've found the best results come from training a particular muscle group no more than twice a week for at leat a half hour each time. If your talking "bodybuilding" then that requires a high protein/zinc diet with pleny of vits and minerals.

However the OP is talking about the abdominal muscle group. It's near impossible to overtrain that region. An hour or more a day won't result in overtraining. Neal mentioned 3 hours for the overall body, which is entirely true.

Actually it is possible. Your abdomen isn't just used for sitting up in your bed when you wake up, ect. You use it in more ways than you think. But hitting it every other day along with he obliques for 30-40 mins isn't bad. Although it is a regular muscle group. So it makes sense to train it like one, no more than twice a week to see maximum results along with a good steady diet and cal counting.

Vincenzo here's a link to my little brothers web site. Forget everything you've just read and read this, you won't go far wrong. There should be a calorie counter on it, just fill in your stats and away you go!

If someone trains 3 hours a day 3 days a week you're going to hurt your body. Keep it at an hour to an hour and a half a day, 3 or 4 days a week.

Do main core lifts like squats, deadlifts, ect.

Oh, and eat, eat a lot.

*LOL* okay ummm, You are coming to a site full of rabid video game players to ask fitness questions? That's like going to Burger King for a healthy meal. Do a google search, i'm sure you'll find information a bit more informed than what you're gonna find on here.

edit: that link to a former forum post was quite indepth, so i take back some of my apprehension, but it's still one of the most ironic things i've heard of.

3 hours a day for someone under 18 with no previous experience? XMike pretty much gave the best advice you can get for increasing mass.. (and strength, if that's what you're looking for?)

I would personally suggest some core isometrics as well if what XMikes suggestions are being done.

A few for flexibity in the regiment and a few for mass, density and increased strength.

All of those he mentioned can be great with 2 minutes of "TNT"s everyday.

Remember with the added isometrics you only need to start with three of each exercise/each day for the first week and ten of each exercise/each day from then on out.

A full regiment of isometrics will only increase your daily workout about 30-45 minutes per session. In this case that would be between 2-5minutes for a great peak benefit.

Of course I suggest leaving the isometrics until the end of the workout to get more burn for your time. wink.gif

Neal was talking about bodybuilding and increasing overall muscle. The OP from what I understand wants to increase his BMI. That's a simple as jogging 2 or 3 times a day more than you usually would.

Exercise regulary, add more protein to your diet. Squats will increase your testosterone levels which make gaining mass that bit easier. The best thing I could suggest would be doing 10-15 squats before a good 3 mile run. Always make sure you eat something within a half hour of exercise. If you want to increase you waiste size, working on the lower back would be more important than working the front. The back muscles are much larger, so you are able to push them further and they will grow more rapidly than your abdominals.

Eat as soon as you can after working out as it helps gain more muscle mass.

Yeah true, but he's not talking about increasing back muscles. He's talking about the waist size. Which Is the opposite most men want. Thick, broad shoulders and a tiny waist, most often called the V Taper.

Woah woah woah, 3 miles? Let him get 1 done, before he moves onto doing triathlons and sh*t. You may be a pro, but he's barely starting out. wink.gif
