The Rooftops of Liberty City

I decided to make this topic after I began exploring Liberty City's rooftops and realized how many random but cool things there are up there. I'll share my favorite find so far. In Algonquin (I'll provide an exact location after I find it again) I was climbing fire escapes when I reached the top of an apartment building that had no internal access to the roof. Over in the corner I discovered a grill, three chairs, and a keg; apparently the remains of a party. What's everyone else found?

I found a place to get away from everyone where they cannot possibly get to you.

If someone gets me a link to the snapmap thing real fast I can point it out, but it's in Southern Algonquin, near the place with the helis. It's a really tall building with walls as high as Niko around the roof. It's huge, too. If you have an M4 and a rocket launcher and a heli parked up there, you can keep people away indefinitely because they can't get to you except by chopper. It's easy to dodge them around the airco units and stuff (which have ladders, both of them). If they land and get out, you can kill them very fast before they can even get a shot off. There's no way to sneak up on you. I did that a while today, just sat up there in a free mode. I had 3 helicopters up there (my own and 2 stolen ones that the owners left) and I only ended up dying when I had to get more ammo; someone had stolen my spot.

In north Algonquin, a couple of blocks away from Playboy X's condo thing, you can get on the roof of a huge building.

Go here and look for the door that opens. When you get to the roof of that apartment building, you'll see what you have to do from there to get to the roof of the massive one. You heard it here first ph34r.gif

I actually made a map of rooftops with chairs a while ago.

When the weather is fine there usually are people hanging out, so it's a good place to have some fun biggrin.gif

The one with the keg is in South-East Algonquin.

It's a whole new world up there. The hospital one near PBX's and you get into the stairwell in the ambulance bay round the back has two sets of roofs, with a pigeon on each.

wtf is a keg?

That's just sad.. you don't know what a keg is?

I was going to say that, but I changed my mind. It turns out that it's not really a sad thing to not know what a keg is. Frat boys are the only morons who concern themselves with such minimal intelligence. You're not one of those are you?

To answer the kid's question: A keg is basically a rather large barrel full of beer.

Here is a nice picture for you. Keg

I have a prior question ripe for this topic! EH!!!

That would partain to the first trailer from a cold winter a year ago!!, I should say, over a year ago... anywho, you recall that first trailer!??

Life is Complicated, I've killed ppl, I've smuggled ppl, I've sold ppl, Perhaps here, things will be different?

During the montage, a seeming scene of a train station depot with a windowed roof reflecting sunlight is scene. I assumed this was Grand Central Station, however, that area of the game is for looks only, and the place in the trailer was the warehouse one confronted Demitri in.

Took me a while to pinpoint the less obvious ones, however, right at that spot is an all glass roof shown from the ground with the skyline showing skyscrapers... Where is that building? I can't recall at the moment.

I think that roof was actually from inside the bank in the 3 leaf clover mission

Really? Damn, I got so anxious at that point, when you can take some time I think...however control that is passed off to you is in the same manner as that of Uncharted, where the cutscene meld with movement you possess.

I never noticed it either, but i too was wondering where that roof was, when i read from a poster on these forums that they had seen it in the bank. I assumed it was correct, but i didn't see it myself

I don't think I could bear to climb and search rooftops on foot, how slow and boring it must be when the highlight is finding chairs and a keg. I'm not trying to shoot you down but do it in a chopper, it's a lot faster and more exciting biggrin.gif

I agree with you but after thinking about it a bit, doing it on foot gives you a massive advantage for multiplayer. Then you know all the terrain.

I see right through your subliminal code monocle.gif Lol but I agree with Erados. Knowing your way around the city is a big advantage.

Has anyone ever gone back to that house that Little Jacob sends you to kill some people? That place is awesome, inside of it and on the roof.

I've been to pretty much all the mission interiors in MP that you can get to. There's one or two places where you can shoot through windows that are really hard to spot you in - the arrow on the map shows you upwards of the enemy's location so they look to the roof. They don't see you sniping from the unbreakable but non bulletproof glass. The back room of the abandoned hospital you do a mission for Elizabeta or LJ in is amazing as well, you can't sneak up on it. It's just hard getting people to come for you in there.

lol.gif I didn't actually realise that I'd hidden a subliminal message in my post. Maybe it's a subconscious thing and if you see an Annihalator storming towards you while your on a rooftop in Multiplayer, remember this biggrin.gif

Are you sure the one in Southwest Algonquin is the one with the keg? I went there, but didn't see any doors to get to the roof.
