So I pretty much spent a lot of time on the game and only done 6 missions. Already that storyline pulled at my heart (then again I'm a chick and well, you know) but I have to say, this is definitely keeping me more occupied than IV ever did. A couple things I've noticed though, is that you get some crazy ass drivers. You know you drive behind someone and all of a sudden they'll start loosing control of their car which ends up hitting you as you try and pass them.

And that heli activity gets on my nerves as well. Seems to happen to me a lot, but say if i get to close to a side of something/a little too low then all of a sudden the blades start to have this kind of magnetic pull to the wall where I either eventually die, or time runs out.

Oh haha, I almost forgot, what the hell is up with that english accent. I mean, I'm all for english accents but could of been a lot better. I ended up having a white guy and making his voice black after the 2nd mission.

Overall though, I'm loving the game. Kept me entertained for ages last night and I'm dying to get on it now but I have a dentist appointment soon.

I noticed this too. I have to say that generally, although they seem to react like the peds in IV for example, in that they show fear, they show such blinding stupidity in their actions, that many a time is iis hard to take them seriously. In IV at least, they react a little more sensibly. (And this doesn't come down to realism or lack of, it's a poorly implemented AI system,) As can be seen with the police, who WILL turn up, and will die quite quickly. Does anybody else find it far too easy to just keep killing police-man after police-man?

That's because the Helicopter physics aren't quite right. Well they probably aren't a lot right. In IV they are still clumsy, but a lot more intuitive than in SR2. And the magnetic field you speak of affects me too, I'm guessing I'm not 'good' enough at flying them. Then again, it might be the poor physics.

Well, like most American developers and film companies, English people don't seem to warrant a fully fledged English set-up, even though we spawned their language, we are left to choose between a hardcore US gangster, a less hardcore US gangster, and the weediest englishman in existence - presumably.

A well thought out customisation scheme would probably have sorted this out, because you shouldn't have been able to tell that his 'voice was black' if it were being true to the customisation scheme of things.

Well, if you'd have read on you'd of seen me say I've only done 6 missions so far and from what's already happened yes, its pulled at the heartstrings. Take it as you want but thats how I personally felt after watching the certain scene. Then again I might of been the only one here that felt like that.

Anyone who disses this game is not automatically a GTAIV fanboy. I've stopped playing GTA for months, and haven't even beat it, and I still think SR2 is dogsh*t in a box. I'm embarrassed to even be seen in the same section as it in Hollywood video.

 

I didn't come in here to flame SR2, I came in to critique the sh*tty defense you guys have for why your game doesn't suck. I've never heard of a game where more people have to PROVE why it's good instead of letting people make their own opinions.

Anyways I'd also like to add if I were to go make a a topic in the IVum about GTA IV being a bad game I wouldn't get away with it just being an "opinion". Every fanboy would post 15 reasons why it's better. It's just the way it is with people these days I find, nobody let's anyone have an opinion anymore

I've never heard of a game where more people have to PROVE why it's good instead of letting people make their own opinions.

To be honest, I've seen more arguments over the fact that it's a "bad game." You want to talk about letting people make their own opinions? Maybe if you don't like something, you can just, you know, ignore it. I don't see why every person who dislikes something feels the need to bash it. sh*t, this is the only topic I've seen in Gaming Chat where there's an argument against it on every page.

 

Am I saying I support Saints Row 2? No. I've given it another play-through recently, and it didn't take long for me to realize how much of a low-budget pile of dog sh*t it was. But have I come in here day after day, expressing how much I hate it? No.

 

Think about the developers. As far as I know, Violition has only done the Saints Row games, so they obviously don't have a high budget, and therefore, they don't have a lot to work with in terms of graphics, physics, etc. Content, yes, it was no doubt heavily influenced from the Grand Theft Auto series, but does that suddenly mean that the Grand Theft Auto series isn't fun?

 

Bottom line is, I have no problem with opinions being expressed, but I can't stand when people have to repeat the same thing over and over and over. I'm not referring to a specific person repeating themselves, either, I'm referring to everyone who tries to make an argument against the game; they always just say the same exact sh*t you can find on earlier pages. You may as well be copy and pasting the same argument in a topic in Debates & Discussion every time someone counter-acts you.

Makes the insurance fraud a little tricky though! If you can, use the highways instead of the wee sh*tty roads. Bigger, faster traffic = easier to knock up points.

Look for gun stores called 'Friendly Fire'. Bras Knuckles are the Melee weapon stores

I rented this game and had quite a bit of fun it. Was quite buggy at points but the out-there type of gameplay it had was cool.

Worth the rent, in my opinion...not the buy.

Oh, and I had lots of fun with those insurance fraud missions And found the soundtrack pretty f*cking sweet.

Yeah I finally found a place that actually did sell guns after I bought the place. I got to say the character singing along to certain songs on the radio is pretty entertaining now and again when it happens. Oh and that super punch thing that makes people fly into the air, yeah thats fun to do as well.

Lol how are you going to discredit her opinion when she said she liked the storyline? Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean everybody doesn't like it. I don't like IV's corny storyline but I'm not telling people you must be crazy for liking that unoriginal storyline now am I?

 

Anyways I just beat the game today after having it for about a month now. I stopped doing missions about half way through just to f*ck around in the game world. Either way I probably won't play it again until I'm bored because I have Left 4 Dead, Prince of Persia, Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3 on my plates and I have to get Far Cry 2 and Prince of Persia out the way 1st since I rented them.

Wasn't closed because of comparisons, it was closed becaause of undying fanboyism and people saying things just because. There's nothing wrong with making a comparison if it is a reasonable, and logical one but "SR2 is crap and GTAIV is the sh*t" really doesn't make for a compelling argument.

 

 

@Pat. They have other games. They made Red Faction and the sequel is coming out. They also made the Punisher, and Summoner.
