Algonquin Assassin
Does anyone else find it weird that there's a rim jobs mechanic shop on the nuclear power plant island? How are you supposed to get your modified vehicles off it? Unless I've missed something. LiTtLe_BaStEd- The more I play it, the more I get that feeling. It pains me to say it, but it's looking like SR2 is indeed better than GTA IV. The missions I've played so far in SR2 have been pretty awesome. Much, much better than GTA IV's opening missions. Machida
Fecking hell. I wrote this with without reading too many of the last page of comments. Don’t read this if you’ve already typed lol in this thread. The first thing that strikes you is the flickey screen, it wasn’t just the you tube videos that gave that image, the actually game suffers from it. Turn your camera and you’ll get a flicker running up and down your TV for a brief while. The game initially takes you into a customization process where you will be able to tweak your characters appearance. The great news here is if you like hair, this game is the one for you. There are plenty of hair styles to choose from. Other that that the customization options are extensive with just about everything you can think of available for change. However the down side is that your character attributes are set on 50, This is the standard default look where your character looks like a pretty basic human. Lowering or increasing these attributes past 50 tends to make your character look strange. The customization isn’t so much about how unique you want to looks, rather it’s how uniquely odd you want to look. You then have six different character voices to choose from, 3 male and 3 female. All pretty generic white, black and Hispanic voices. In the case of the male character you will be given a cockney sounding Londoners voice, the typical black gangsta voice and Hispanic version, the Hispanic version was my favourite one. Your then handed control of your character as you try to escape your hospital prison. The first thing you’ll notice is, nothings changed from SR. Your character is blocky and handles like a block of cement, for me the controls hadn’t aged well and it was initially difficult to play. I struggled not to hit the off button and head out for a game of pool. As next gen games go.. It’s not, it’s sitting firmly in the class of last gen. Combat is done using the R2 and L2 buttons (or RT and LT for 360). These control your punches and kicks and your fire weapon movements. After landing a three hit combo you will then pull of a unique manoeuvre, this is where the kick to the groin and superman punch come from. Shooting in the game doesn’t have auto aim, although you do have the option of an over the shoulder view for more control. Generally though, when in normal view your character will shoot in a straight line. Aiming is done by moving your character’s body in line with your target. All combat will be messy, no matter how neat you try to be. You will miss punches, fire on friends and it won’t make you look pretty. Graphically the game is poor. At a distance the city of Stillwater itself is hard to make out. Cut scenes are smooth enough however. There isn’t much to say about the driving in the game as it’s pretty dire. Cars don’t give the sensation they are moving at all. The turning is easy enough to get the hang of, yet at times camera angles will be positioned at such an angle that you will be turning blind and often into another vehicle. Braking happens in an instant, no matter what your speed hit the break and you will stop. It’s a strange thing to see. You’ll also notice that every time you turn your vehicle your brakes will screech no matter how light or heavy your turn is. This is annoying. Saints Row 2 is probably a game you will either get or you won’t. It’s strength isn’t in it’s design, the game itself is very glitchy and there hasn’t been a lot of empathise on bringing the city of Stillwater to life. Peds will have silent conversations with each other and life on the streets is pretty basic. The humour level of the game is pretty rudimentary, you won’t get it if you’ve seen the light of day. Yet the above points aren’t why you’d want to be in Stillwater. You’ll want to be in Stillwater for it’s activities, namely Crowd Control and the return of Insurance Fraud. Although again that comes down to your sense of humour and perception of what fun is. If you don’t find handing out the finger dressed as a ninja fun, then you probably won’t get it. 7/10 Yep, no sh*t, I didn’t get it. -edited to put in my wee score. Vince_ThePhoenix
Benjamin King was my favorite character in SR. I liked his voice (of course Michael Clarke Duncan is cool ) and his charisma. In one of the last cutscenes of the VKs I was thinking like "Come on, why couldn't they have picked me up? I hate purple and those yellow outfits just look amazing". Well, I kind of got used to the purple, but my character wears the green pimp suit now. This game is going to be amazing no doubting with the idea of being able to customize your own gang. I'd make my gang either yellow or green, get Benjamin King as a homie, would be able to make Julius and Johnny as homies, too. Oh, no wait. You said complete customization: Be able to recruit up to 4 homies and include Legal Lee to get some money as soon as I get hurt, I love that dude! Cars: I'd like to have a 4-seat La Fuerza, Raycaster and Julius' car (don't remember the name) as gang cars which are stored in my garage from the beginning

Pat
It's in the mall. Also, a question for those of you who have finished the game, like myself: the f*ck happened to the mission where you corner Julius in the church? I was looking forward to it, but never got to play it. Now, I'm done with the game, and it's still not available. I started with the Sons of Samedi, then did the Ronin, then the Brotherhood last. Maybe the order of which you do the gangs in has something to do with it. I don't know. I'm pretty pissed off though.

MC.
I like that song Take On Me by A-Ha. I added it to my custom music playlist and when my character hears the song the second time on the radio, he starts to sing it. Pretty funny. I still haven't found that Zombie Uprising game yet. If it's in various bars, is it under stores in the map? Or is Zombie Uprising only available for XBOX360? I have a feeling it might be for that system because of it's reference to Dead Rising. Pat
42? When I look at my statistics/game save, it says I have 56 missions completed. Going to try multiplayer/co-op tomorrow. I've been trying to all week, but I haven't been able to get a decent connection to Live. Also, for anyone trying to get the Bandit (Phoenix with the paintjob from Smokey & The Bandit), get a car and drive into the gas station at the University. Three gold stars guaranteed every time.
