*MURDOC*
Guys, how do you customize your gang? Once you progress enough I guess, after you get the gang hideout. This games pretty fun, I enjoy streaking with my asian/somekindaspanish chick holding machineguns. f*cking weirdness.
[GTA Man]cycon77foamy[GTA Man]
I've been hearing people say how bad the animations are and all the glitches, is it that bad? Bad enough to make the game less enjoyable? This game is fun with a capitol F! I know wha till be occuping my self with this weekend! Everyone should at least rent it if not buy it. I like the driving in this game, while tighter, it still makes for fun chases. Plus thiers only one reason needed to get this game... Dillinger8
I got lost in the gang's hide out thing. This game is pretty good so far. The only glitch I've come across is the background music when you pause the game was stuck on, constantly. I remember this happening in the original SR. Algonquin Assassin
The radio sucks, i swear they have like 4 songs for each station >_< You can buy music from various music shops around the city. Something that pisses me off about this game is when peds/vehicles just disappear.

If it does indeed help with my concern over the graphic quality of Saints Row 2 I will be mightily surprised however! To anyone else- hows the graphics? Algonquin Assassin
I think the graphics are awesome actually. The cutscenes look really nice, but I've noticed that around their faces it looks a bit fuzzy. Probably my TV. Aside from that the graphics look much better than they do in the youtube videos, but still not as good as IV's. IMO

The vids on youtube and the screenies that were released just made the game look, well, crap basically. The building especially! But I’ll toddle off and go play a mailman in IV, see if that helps! BloodOcean
Miamivicecity: I've had a few cars disappear as well. I've had it happen real bad in multiplayer a few times, but that can kinda be forgiven considering how much online testing they could really do. Still, the glitches are in fact, there. have a 1080p television, and the graphics are crisp and clean. I've always liked SR flames over gta flames, but that's my preference I guess

I think too many people judged it too early before it was released. The graphics are quite respectful for how big the game is. Just a notch under GTA IV's. Only one real gripe with this game is the voices you can choose. There's only 3 for males, and 3 for females. My guy is caucasian, and the only one I wanted to suit him, without sounding like a homie was the British accent. Would've been nice to have more voices to choose from, but they could get unlocked later on in the game. Not sure. Oh, and one thing I have to give Volition/THQ credit for is actually giving rewards for completing side missions. Something R* dogged us with in IV. ChristopherD
Hey folks, This is my first post on this part of the forum (didn't even know it was here...lol). I had this review posted in the GTA MP forum and was told (very nicely, I might add) to post it here instead. Ok...so I rented Saints Row II day b4 yesterday and spent the night checking it out. Here are a few of my initial thoughts on it. 1st and formost; it will by NO means ever replace GTA 4 for me. I will start with the negative stuff 1st. SRII cons: 1. I do not like the 'playability'. The 'on foot' is much faster and extremely jerky and doesn't allow for subtle movement. The environment is too 'cartoony' for me (Although I new this going in, having not particularly liked SR1). Oh yea...and NO auto aim, which, to me, really makes no difference. 2. The MP has some of the same connectivity issues as GTA 4. While you can create your own peramitors for the game you want (in party mode), you then have to wait for players with the same settings as you or random ppl entering through quick match (I think), so the more custom the match you choose, the longer it takes to fill up a room. Quick matches are not much better. I was waiting, on average, about 7 minutes for a game to actually start. Also, once you have completed a match, there is no way to continue another match with the same ppl. When you click 'continue' after a match, it simply tosses you back to the main game menu, where you have to start the process all over again to find another MP match. 3. Once in a MP match, there is absolutely NO chance at stealth, strategy, etc. It is straight, Balls to the Wall gunfights. While I love a good ‘Total Mayhem’ match from time to time, this is going to get old REAL fast. There isn’t even a sniper weapon of any kind (that I could find) for crying out load! 4. Vehicles: The driving in SRII is, well, uninspiring to say the least. Each vehicle has a maximum top speed that makes it very easy to drive (no challenge) and the e-brake is really just a quick brake...no power sliding in THIS game. 5. I could find no flying vehicles, so I am not sure how that is in SRII. There is a lot of very cool stuff in this game that blows GTA out of the water. Here are a few. SRII Pros: 1. The single player game itself. While GTA 4 scaled down the side missions in SP in lieu of a prettier environment, SRII went the opposite way and increased the amount of what you can do. While the SRII environment is a little more detailed the SR1, it is still the simplistic, cartoony environment it was b4. 2. There are a TON more and interesting ground vehicles in SRII. While I will never like the drivability of the vehicles in SRII (can’t wait for MCLA!), it IS fun to try out the amazing array of different vehicles. If you play it, you MUST find the ‘Monster Truck’. It is truly a blast to ride down the street crunching everything in your path. Also, almost everything in the environment is breakable. This means a whole lot less of running into immovable objects. 3. Coop: I believe this is absolutely the BEST thing about SRII: You can play the ENTIRE SP game with a friend online! I found a guy in MP that I added as a friend. He then went offline so I went to play SP for awhile. I was just about to start a mission when I get a request from the newly added friend to join my game. Now, I didn’t really feel like playing MP (wanted to explore and could find no ‘Free Mode’ in MP), but I had just added the guy and I didn’t want to be rude, so I accepted. I was TOTALLY freaked out when he entered my SP game! He spawned some distance from me but after finding each other (he had no idea what we could or couldn’t do at 1st too) we spent the next hour and a half or so doing the first few main missions and I gotta say, it was some of the best fun I have had online so far! I have only one friend for SRII right now, so I am not sure if more than two ppl can play coop together. 4. The variety of games you can pay in MP: There are like 10 or 12 different ways of playing MP. Games like DM (called Gangsta Brawl) & TDM are there, but there are a whole bunch of Coop MP games as well. There are also a lot of things you can do while in a MP that GTA doesn’t have. Example: In a TDM (I forget what its called in SRII) there are places where you can cover up other gangs ‘Tags’ with your own (just like SR1). If you do this, your WHOLE team gets some type of reward (unlimited sprint, extra ammo, etc.). You can also ‘steal’ the other teams rewards by covering THEIR tags. 5. The Character creation kicks major ass and you can use that character for everything, including coop AND MP! Just had to add that. There is a lot more pros and cons to mention, but this is turning into a book (sorry) so I will wrap it up. In conclusion, SRII seems like it will be a fun game to play (mainly because of the Coop), and I will probably keep it out for a cpl weeks and may even buy it (not for a while though...gotta get MCLA 1st!), but it just does not have the playability and control of GTA4. Andyzoot
Just a really small question. When playing Co-Op with a friend and doing the single player missions. In the small cutscene before you do a mission, is both your character and your friend's character visible in the cut scene?
StanMarsh
The driving annoys the hell out of me. And I'm not picky- I loved Mercs 2, but then again I was stealing tanks and attack helicopters. My rel problem will come with my roommate- he loves good driving so the driving in this game will be a massive, massive, massive, masssive turnoff. He may only play for a few hours and then never play again. Beyond that, everything seems fine- I haven't run into any glitches and combat is easy. Character customization is great- allows me to do things I couldn't before. I have it for the 360 and I don't have Live anymore, so I sadly can't speak to the MP experience. I've never been a fan of co-op unless it is in person, but it sounds like a great feature nonetheless. So, just from what I know: GTAIV is better than the SP SRII game, but SRII is silly fun and that's fun too. IV is like a fine wine- SRII is that German Lager over there; not as refined or aged, but it'll get you smashed.
BioVirus
I really loved Blinged Out Ride from Saints Row 1. It's not in Saints Row 2. They also removed Protect the Pimp. Blinged Out Ride was an amazing twist on capture the flag, it was a load of fun. I'll have to re-buy SR1 to play it I guess. GTA IV has better multiplayer, but SR2 has co-op for the entire single player campaign which is awesome. SR2 has better single player campaign. GTA IV has better graphics. SR2 has 100000 million things to do and activities.

BioVirus
Volition’s Must-Do List For “Saints Row 2″ (Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 Action Game, October 2008) 1. Zombie Uprising Once you’ve got a Crib (after the second mission) head there and walk up to your TV. Activate it, select ‘Video Games’ then ‘Zombie Uprising’ to get some post-apocalyptic zombie killing action! 2. Basejumping Hijack a helicopter or airplane and fly up into the sky. When you get to a good height, exit the vehicle (trust me, you’ll be fine), and when the prompt appears to open your parachute do so, you’ll get another prompt asking if you want to start the Basejumping diversion. Start it and then attempt to land as close to the center of the target as possible. If you get it just right you’ll get an incredibly useful unlockable that makes painful falls a thing of the past! 3. Get Naked Clothes too constricting? Head to a clothing store or your crib wardrobe to take your clothes off. Once you’re in the clothing store interface look at the bottom of the screen and find the button for “Switch to Wardrobe” and press it. Once in the Wardrobe go to the “Outfits” tab and find the fourth option listed, “Remove all current clothing”. Hit yes and you’ll be wearing your birthday suit! 4. Funky Outfits The best place to get the awesome over the top outfits in Saints Row 2 is the Underground Mall in the Nob Hill neighborhood of the High End Retail district. Head there, find the large two story outdoor mall and head towards the center area to take the elevator down. Inside you’ll find numerous lingerie, costume, and various other fun shops! 5. Stilwaters’ Finest Feel like doing some good in the city? Find an abandoned (or even an occupied) service vehicle like an Ambulance, Taxi Cab, Tow Truck or Fire Truck and enter it. Once inside you’ll receive a prompt to start a diversion, press the button and help out the citizens of Stilwater! 6. Combat Tricks In order to get the best weapon in the game you’ll want to master Combat Tricks. You’ll need to get the maximum rating in Gang Kills plus a minimum rating in every other Combat Trick. In order to find out what Combat Tricks you haven’t yet done open up the Pause Menu and select ‘Diversions’, then ‘Stunts’, then ‘Combat Tricks’. On this list you’ll see everything you’ve done, plus everything you have left to do in order to get an awesome weapon! 7. Free Food Don’t like paying for food? If you rob over 20 stores shopkeepers will know you so well they won’t even bother asking you to pay for food! 8. Mystery Solved? If you played the original Saints Row and want to know more about how the player came to be blown up you’ll want to head to Troy’s office in the Police Station in the Harrowgate neighborhood of the Saints Row District. With a little bit of sleuthing you’ll be able to solve the mystery of who set you up and why! 9. Friends No More While playing Co-op with a friend, if you get tired of cooperating with each other and want to test your skills, kill one another. When you’re not playing a mission, activity, or stronghold and one player is killed by another the dead player will have the option of playing one of two Co-op specific gameplay modes: Deathtag or Cat & Mouse. Wail on each other to get out some of that aggression! 10. Cabbit Have you ever heard of the legend of the mighty Cabbit? Half cat, half rabbit, all predator. This animal is hidden somewhere in Saints Row 2. To get you started on your journey to find it head out to the north western part of the water around Stilwater. Once you’ve found some small islands look for sign posts leading you to the next island. Eventually you’ll find this legendary beast!

JGJONES
Hmm... i suppose i might pick this up IF the missions don't involve too much driving... SR1's driving was absoloute bollock's. Don't get me wrong, GTA will always be MILES better than SR... but i suppose SR2 would tie me over until IV's DLC/GTA 5 is released. May i ask a few questions to anyone who owns SR2? 1. Do the missions have less driving in them than SR1? 2. Is there a wider variety of clothes than SR1? I hated looking like a "gangster". 3. Roughly how many new cars are there? (in the trailer's, it looks like they re-used the SR1 cars).
