--Plot--

 

The game is set five years after the events of Saints Row. The protagonist was betrayed by former 3rd Street Saints, who detonated a bomb aboard a yacht he was also on. Then-mayoral candidate Alderman Hughes was killed, along with his personal servants in the explosion, however, the protagonist suffered severe injuries and slipped into a trauma-induced coma, only to be taken away and put into a dingy prison hospital ward.

 

Meanwhile, the 3rd Street Saints, who had conquered Stilwater in Saints Row, have fallen apart. Former leader of the Saints, Julius Little, has abandoned his crew and slipped into the shadows. Johnny Gat has been captured by police and awaits the electric chair, after being convicted of more than three-hundred murders. Lin Gat, Johnny�s sister, was ruthlessly killed in Saints Row. Dex has a confirmed but unspecified role. Undercover police officer Troy Bradshaw, who was tasked with undermining the Saints, has risen through the ranks and has been promoted to Chief of Police, after the demise of former Police Chief Monroe.

 

After five years, the protagonist has unexpectedly awoken from his trauma-induced coma. A young Hispanic man, Carlos, "shanks" himself simply so he can talk to the protagonist in the prison infirmary. After a heated exchange between the two when they are left alone, the protagonist agrees to let Carlos help him escape. In the exchange, Carlos also reveals he has a brother in the 3rd Street Saints, however, never mentions his name. After a battle to the shore, Carlos and the protagonist escape the island and return to Stilwater. Hell-bent on revenge, the protagonist forms together a new crew of Saints, which includes Johnny, who the protagonist rescues from a courtroom precession. Carlos soon introduces Shaundi and Phil, who hang out in an abandoned hotel basement, and are more than willing to work for the protagonist. With a new crew, the protagonist must march on and eliminate the three rival gangs in Stilwater, and reclaim what is rightfully his.

I brought the first one ages just to play until gta came, i liked it.

 

i heard of all the features thats going to be in the game, sounds awesome, cant wait!

OT: Looking forward to SR2. Hopefully they fix the frame-rate issues from the first game and add more stuff to the game. First one felt a bit empty.

heres the first few minutes of Sr2 by gametrailers. minor spoilers may lie.

 

 

i must say this game looks to be awesome. i am a huge fan of customization, i have wanted to create my own character in gta. I think this and GTA will be 2 totally different games.

gta is gritty, and going realistic, and this is going super fun and ultra realistic.

 

i thought the first one was a bit too wannabe GANGSTAAAA!!!.

I think this one looks to have toned down the stupidity a bit. and is just going for flat out fun and customization

 

Now i love gta, but i don't classify this stuff as a gta rip off anymore, it has grown into a whole new genre of gaming.

 

everything looks great, but i think the physics are a bit off as well as the hand to hand combat, but this could be improved by the release. The graphics look great, i dont mind the cartoonyness, it looks like project 8. Nice clear, easy to see, good graphics, not overly bury.

No pop in visible.

 

Overall: i cant wait to play this game.

 

i have kept an eye on it the past month.

The game is certanly one of those i will buy, but chances are minimal to null it will be better then GTA IV, based on what i saw.

 

It's just that the overall feel that looks like it is way behind GTA.

to me this feels a bit like a tony hawk game. i just love customization. I don't think it will be better than gta iv. They will be 2 totally different game play experiences, even though they are so alike.

 

i don't see anyone calling halo a rip off of half life, because they are 2 totally different gaming experiences, yet they share alot in common.

 

open world is now a genre, just like Fps games, so i wouldn't be calling anything a rip off, because it like calling gta vc a rip off of scarface, which it isn't. It is one of its influences, and so is gta to saints row.

I'm sure if I was to make a game as close to GTA as I could, then ask people to play it between GTA titles I could make alot of money too. I can help but view Saints Row as a money grab scam off the back of GTA.

and also one of the previous, people stated that your guy was in the middle of the boat when it exploded, not true. There is a beep just before the boat explodes, and you here a splash just as the boat explodes. and if you finish the game 100 you can see the splash.

Anyway, this game looks alright. The first one was fairly mediocre, but it had it's good points.

The humour is still painfully bad, but they seem to have improved the weapons and vehicles, and I like the idea of safehouse customisation.

Story looks so-so, but it's still better than the lack of story in the original.

 

Depending on the reviews, I might give this a look.

 

Oh, @willgta: you don't see any splash if you finish the game 100%. That's all bollocks started by an incredibly fake Youtube vid.

yeh, the voice acting was as good as vice city. Hopefully the second one will live up as well.

 

You get to choose your characters voice, so hopefully the choices are those of good voice talent.

Yeah, this game looks awesome! I didn't play the first game, because I have a PS3. But, I'm looking into playing this game. It looks really good, so far! I'm so happy that it came to the PS3, now. BTW, has anybody seen the Sons of Samedi trailer? It looks pretty sick! I think the topic starter should post that trailer on the first page, too.

No it wasn't. This game is going to be awesome, I have no doubt. The first was a great game to play while waiting for GTA IV, and this looks like a big step-up. Of course, Violition has done a next-generation free roaming game before, so they know what they're doing.
