probably high/highest settings depends on how much they improved graphics from consoles... if its the same as consoles it will run at highest with a good resolution no poblem

If you did, sas it difficult?

Thanks, I built it all myself.

Some Vantage scores for the rig.

Standard: http://service.futuremark.com/resultAnalyz...8&resultType=19

Ultras overclocked: http://service.futuremark.com/resultAnalyz...3&resultType=19

Just got to get to grips with overclocking the CPU now.

EDIT: The worse part was sh*tting it in case i had a leak as the motherboard neede powered up to run the pump and fans for testing. I was bricking it and it did have a small leak too, luckily I spotted it and fixed it.

The size of the Coolermaster case made it easy too as it swallowed up the twin and single rads no problem.

Not sure what to go with yet..

If you weren't aware with Core 2 Duo's or any dual core you don't add the processor speeds together to get your speed, sure those online system requirements tools add them together but its not how dual core processors work. Really megahertz mean nothing these days its the processor that matters most.

Although the clock rate of E8500 is higher than Q9550, but I suggest you to have Q9550 because there'll lots of apps and games can manage multi-core to take the advantage of that, and the cache is twice as E8500 too!

I think GTX 280 is better but if you must have 9 series I would suggest 9800GX2 because the RAM of the card (GDDR) is twice than 9800 GTX, the games now are very consume memory, not only the system RAM, but the RAM in the graphic card too....

GTA IV will support widescreen res., don't need to worry about it!

My advice: buy a CRT

CRT owns LCD in image quality, reaction time and health

LCD's are over-marketed pieces of steaming crap and should die out at once.

My ol' Samsung with a DynaFlat screen owns most modern mid-class LCD's even though the screen ain't REALLY flat (overmolded or something)

And i bought it for 10$ a while ago

Musn't i say to adjust the refresh rate (that's why CRT get bad notes cause of flicker, but high refresh rate can do wonders

Oh, i guess i OT. Whatever tounge.gif

Well, I bought that Compaq CRT a few weeks back for £5, specifically because of that computer I built out of spare parts. I did hook it up to my PC, and played SA:MP with ENB Series, and it looked very good. I just don't have the desk space for a CRT monitor, especially not a 19" one. What I have found is that glossy LCDs are much better, with deep blacks.

I was forced to build a new rig earlier this year when my seven year old box died. So now I've got this:

CPU: Intel Core2 Quad Q9450 2.66Ghz

MBO: Asus Striker II Extreme 790i Ultra

RAM: 4Gb Corsair DDR3 PC1333

GPU: 2 x BFG 9800GTX 512Mb

HSF: Thermalright Ultra120 eXtreme and Noctua NF-P12 120mm Fan

HDD: 2 x 150Gb WD Raptors in Striped RAID and 1 x 1TB Hitachi Ultrastar

DVD: Pioneer DVR215BK Dual Layer DVD writer

AUD: Auzentech X-FI Prelude 7.1

SPK: Logitech Z5500 5.1 Speakers

VDU: Samsung 245B 24inch Widescreen Monitor

MSE: G7 Laser Cordless Mouse

KBD: Ideazon Merc Stealth Gamer Keyboard

All these are wrapped up in a Chenbro SR107 Server Case with 2 Hotswap HDD Cages with SATA2 backplanes (four drives per cage) and cooled by three Noctua NF-S12 120mm Fans.

Right now, I've only allocated half the available space on my stripe RAIDed Raptors. In that 150Gb partition I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2. Later this year, before GTA IV comes out, I'll partition the other 150Gb and install Vista 64bit in a Dual boot configuration.

Even then the box is not complete. I got those drive cages for a reason. I intend to buy a dedicated PCI-E RAID card and run two arrays of three drives in RAID5 using 1TB Hitachi Ultrastar drives. When I'm not playing GTA, I do a lot of mucking about with digital video which takes a lot of disk space.

This is the computer 'll be running IV with:

Windows Vista

Intel Core2Duo CPU E6750 @2.66Ghz

2 GB Ram

Nvidia GeForce 8600GS

1.3 TB HDD

19" Widescreen monitor with 2ms refreshing time.

I know it's capable of running IV, I'm just wondering at what settings I can play it with either a resolution of 1440 x 900 or 1280 x 768 without lagging.

Normally the graphics with auto ajust, it did for me. I have 8600GT and I can run SA on 1680x1050x32. It starts to get laggy if you put it on AA 2 OR AA 3. AA1 run smoothly. Everything set to high. I had a 6800GS before and then I got myself an 8600GT because my power supply for this computer couldn't handle 8800. Can't wait until this game comes out. I've loved GTA since the game came out in 3D which was GTAIII inlove.gif
