  • CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 3GHz

GPU: GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB

RAM: 4 GB DDR2 800 MHz

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB

DVD: ASUS DRW-2014L1T

Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster 204B - 20", 1600x1200

Keyboard: an old Logitech iTouch with both support legs and the palm rest broken off

Mouse: an old Logitech MX700 that saw so much use the rubbering on its surface is all stripped off!

Clearly the mouse and keyboard need to be replaced. I should've gotten the original Logitech G15 while it was still in stores. sad.gif The backlight of v2 looks like crap. Maybe I'll get the cheaper G11; who needs a display on the keyboard anyway. Edited by Konstantinos

Your MSI geforce fx5200 won't run the game at all....... MIght get 0.1fps on low details because I know other people who have that card and can hardly open a 5 year old game and play it on high without getting below 15fps.

I think I'm ready for GTAIV...

MB: MSI K9A Platinum

CPU: Athlon 64 x2 5200 @ 2.8ghz

RAM: 4gb Kingston HyperX DDR2 800mhz

GFX: MSI 8800 Ultra @ 660/1150

...and all the other usual stuff like big hdds, dvd burners, huge cooling fans, etc...

Monitor: KDS X-Flat 19" CRT 1600x1200 @ 60hz (I love this screen inlove.gif )

Keyboard: Standard Beige Compaq Keyboard (Best. Keyboard. Ever. Seriously. I prefer it over my Saitek Eclipse II.)

user posted image

Mouse: Logitech MX518 1600dpi (Best. Mouse. Ever.)

Maybe when the folks here crack into the game and start modding, I'll port some of my vehicles over. turn.gif

A game of this magnitude will be a good enough reason to return from my very long hiatus. wink.gif

I think I have found the ultimate setup to play GTA 4 on the PC. When you see something like this you just think "damn I am such an amateur". This is NOT my setup before you start crediting me with it, but if I had the money it would be. Thanks to jallar for the link btw.

no the 8500 gt is not a good card, it suports dx10 but not good enough for dx10 games , a good video card that i recomend is the epic 8800 gt tounge.gif

You should recommend some good money too.tounge.gif

Here's mine:

Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHZ<<Not good, and I know

2GB DDR2 667 System Memory

ATI RADEON HD 3870X2<<ROCKS

Samsung Syncmaster 794MG 21"

320 GB HDD

Ditch that Pentium 4. Not only is it weak, but it affects the whole PC and "bottlenecks" your GPU. Which means that your GPU's potential isn't fully used. Go get a quad or something tounge.gif

I hope GTA:IV PC is AMD/ATi friendly

Spec in sig!

I just hope my CPU does not bottleneck the game too much, probably only negative effect i will encounter is slightly longer loading times then you guys.

Slowdowns are non-existant with Mass Effect, Gears of War and Assassins Creed so yeah hopefully everything should be awesome.

I spose i would be pushing it to want AA at 1680x1050 MAX because not many 'latest games' can handle that now.

My rig is from April 2007, but i hope it will run the game smoothly

Asus P5B Deluxe Wifi

Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.4Ghz

2Gb DDR2 800Mhz

XFX GeForce 8800GTS 320Mb

SoundBlaster X-Fi Platinum

500Gb Seagate SATA

Vista 64bit Home Premium

LG Widescreen 19"

I hope that can get me a about 40/50fps on max detail 1280x800 without AA, or maybe with 2xAA smile.gif One has to dream tounge.gif

Wow

that is awesome , would love to play GTA IV on that setup

And i'm not sure about my 8600gt, shall i go for a new one or keep stay with it?

Would i have a serious, undisregardable performance lowness? or would it run GTAIV at a decent speed with some medium settings?

Do what my friend did, get a second 8600 GT, get a water cooling system, upgrade the power system to 750 Watts, overclock to 3.4 GHz, and hope to god she will hold.

Worst advice ever.

SLI is simply not worth the money. You'd be better gettting a single 8800GT. Or something from the ATI side. I'd be supprised if two 8600's out performed a single 8800GT.

There's already a Show Us Your Plat thread on the PC Tech forum....but I did happen to take a pic of my AMD64 rig, and it's in a cheapie case I picked up from the Boxshop here.

The neat thing about this generic case is it's low and wide, meaning you can get about 4 drives in it still and a full on ATX board and it's miniTower ATX in height, which I like, very, very light as well but the downside is PSU mounts off to the side/middle, just like the Dell Precision and HP Pavilion mini towers I recently picked up. That means the space can get heated, in the case of the HP Pav, there is virtually no room with the drive caddys in place, it's terrible engineering despite how sub-compact it is. My AGP 8x card is in an Athlon XP board Abit Va10 and that's the fastest at 256MB DDR2 RAM and only a nVidia 6200 card. I noted these cards are available STILL at BB for $150 or so, in PCI form factor, for ppl needing a PCI Vista solution. Should do some games however.

I recently read the Q and A published with Alienware techs, they claim that at the highest resolution of both card and monitor, DO NOT invoke AA, you simply don't need it. This is to compansate for lower to lowest setting frame rates and resolutions. They tell you the reason being is Anti Aliasing requires more image rendering time to do it's job, and that takes away from time, precious time you can't afford to give up.

Well, if the tech can render at highest possible pixel levels, you don't need AA at all.

Great to see so many kick ass PC's about. I have been spending a bit of time in the "GTA IV PC Possible Requirements" topic and it is quite depressing seeing people ask if their pentium 2 with Voodoo 1 graphcis card will run GTA 4 biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif I was starting to think there were no PC gamers left with decent systems.
