You will run this game on Max Setting with Max Traffic Density, you shouldn't have any problem.

With my PC I am sure I won't get the game running as well, but if I will, I'm sure I'll get around 15-20 fps on low with 800x600 res:

CPU:Amd Athlon 3200+ 2 GHz

GPU:Ati Radeon HD3850 512 Mb DDR3

RAM:4 GB DDR2 667 MHz

I'm considering uprading my CPU to an Amd Athlon X2 6000+ to run the game on High(not max, but high)graphix with an medium traffic density.

Guess I'll paste my specs from the thread in Tech & PC Chat,

Nvidia 780i SLI

Intel Quadcore 9400 2.66ghz

8GB DDR2 ram

2x Gainward GTX 280 1GB in SLI

Thermaltake Toughpower 850W

74GB raptor and 600GB external

Antec Performance One P180 Silver

Logitech X-230 speakers

Dell keyboard (best f*cking keyboard ever)

Logitech G5 mouse

Playing on a 1080p projector at the moment, it's kinda fun.

** not really a "show off" here but posting specs anyway **

Looks like high settings with lesser draw distance for me and switch AA to maybe 2 instead of 4 at 1280x1024 from what ive judged from reviews, posts, online tests etc:

AMD Athlon X2 6000+ 3 Ghz

BFG GTX260 Maxcore OC (216) 896MB

2 GB GEIL PC2 6400 800FSB Ram

Xfi Extreme Gamers Sound Card

Asus MN2-SLI Deluxe Mobo

2x 500 GB Sata2 drives, lots of space.

No keyboard or mouse, as I use "sightware" to giude my screen.

This is of course without fiddling with any configs, using Rivatuner and other tweaks and patches, newer drivers as they come etc. The thing thats says "you cant push it" is the CPU for me, so in my mind that's decoded in system spec terms as "You cant have high draw distance with a lot of traffic and expect it to run without annoying you". As long as I get eye candy on par and greater than console with a little more view distance (say 20 percent more) and textures then im not fussed at all, the rest is a bonus. I never set my sights higher than the console, that way your not disappointed.

Will "go quad" and SLI the card start of next year though.

Nice system. I just OC'D my 3850 X2 in Riva Tuner, I've notcied a healthy performance increase.

You're being bottleknecked by that CPU, however.

Well I'm getting this for Christmas:

AMD Athlon 64 AM2 Dual Core 5000

2GB DDR2 RAM

160 GB SATA II 7200 RPM HDD

512MB Geforce 9500GT

20x Dual layer Dual format DVDRW

4.1 High Definition Sound

500W PSU

Nothing extremly special, but it should play it... Sure beats the nVidia MX440 rig I have been using for five anti-aliased years tounge.gif.

I am going to have a HD 2600pro 128-bit 512 mb card, a Pentium Dual-Core 2.5 ghz, and 1 gig of RAM.

I don't care about maxing, so I am trying to get a nice frame-rate on low.

Check the sig...

I am being cheap.

Playing it like a console is more than ok. I just want to play it. I have for too long.

Apparently my current card (Geforce 6800) can play it on lowest resolution, lowest texture quality, and no traphic tounge2.gif .

Downloaded CPU-Z and GPU-Z just to test my whole PC. Not a monster computer really, but still, it's hopefully be able to play GTA IV, Mafia II, and COD WaW.

Core 2 Duo E4600 2.4 GHz

GeForce 8500 GT 512 MB 460 MHz (dunno the exact clock notify.gif )

2 gigs 'o DDR2 RAM

Asus MoBo P5GC-MX/1333

With the legendary Windows XP SP3

Other than that, I have 2.1 spekers, Samsung SyncMaster 793mb (not an LCD tounge.gif ) and cheap stuff like Logitech mouse and keyboard.

8500 GT will probably not run GTA IV. Sorry.

It will run!

If you read the readme you will see that there stands:

Known Issues:

Geforce 6000/7000 cards dont show car damage

And the speed of a 8500 is like a Geforce 7600

The 8500GT is about three times slower than a 8600GT. So it may run, but at low settings.

Ahhh! Guys I can't anymore. Some people are saying to me that I will be able to run with high details and high traffic density with 1280x1024. Then some other people are saying completely different things that I'm lucky when I'm able to run it with medium settings etc. C'mon I really don't believe this quad requiring sh*t. I believe that Quad is recommended because PC version has video editor. Video editing and processing prefers 4 cores over 2 cores and I believe that's why R* recommends Quad for running this game because they believed that people will go crazy with the editor. I really can't believe that I will not be able to max it out with 1280x1024 or even a little bit higher resolution, because I was able to max crysis out with 1280x1024, I was even able to use 2x AA. We will see soon.

The size of the monitor has no effect on the game, it's the resolution you want to run the game in.

Quick question -

is the NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT 512MB a good card?

Is it recommended that I upgrade, and if so, to what card?

no the 8500 gt is not a good card, it suports dx10 but not good enough for dx10 games , a good video card that i recomend is the epic 8800 gt tounge.gif

I'd recommend it too, thats what i have, 8800 gtx 768mb... and its brilliant.

You guys are exaggerating the requirements. If a console with an old proc and x1950xtx can run it at med we should have no problem maxing it, biggrin.gif .
