Just thought I'd give the PC gamer guys a place where you can show off the set-up you will be playing GTA IV on since the console folks had their own little show-off session. Now its our turn!

So show-off your SLi'd, quad-cored rigs, your manly sized monitor, gaming keyboards and mice!

manly sized monitor

I'm definitely spending to much time on the Gtaforums/web/PC.

Sorry for OT, but I have yet to build my new PC. Maybe I'll come back to show off in a week or so.

CPU:AMD Athlon64 x2 6000+ (3.0Ghz)

GPU:Nvidia GeForce 8800GTS 320mb 500Mhz

HDD:400Gb some crappy samsung(atleast it works)

RAM:3Gb DDR2 800Mhz

well, not something beasty, but I think it'll be enough for me to enjoy GTA4

MB: Asus P5K

CPU: Intel Core2Duo E8400 3Ghz

RAM: 2GB Kingston DDR800

VGA: XFX Alpha Dog 8800GT 512MB

HDD: Seagate 500GB SATA-2

OS: Vista Ultimate 64bit/SP1

19" LCD wide screen LG

And the rest is ordinary cheap components, if it supports surround, I'll probably buy myself some 5.1 speakers... smile.gif

This is enough for all the current games, so I believe GTA won't be an exception...

Those syncmasters are great. I have one of those and they are used in a lot various places.

What about Samsung LCD monitors? I see a lot people have LG, but I just don't have any faith in that brand.

Pretty sweet flatscreen monitor. Just real quick, if I were to upgrade my Graphics Card to somthing that will last me a while, how much cash am I looking at spending here?

This PC announcement finally made my decision about upgrading...

Current configuration:

Athlon X2 4200+

Radeon 1950 pro

1 GB DDR ram

320 GB Seagate HDD

Piece-of-sh*t Epox 9NPAJ motherboard

Now, I'm almost sure this could run IV (runs Crysis on med.), but every new game can barely breathe on a sinlge gb of ram.

Another gb of DDR1 would cost me as much as new motherboard...So I said f*ck that, time to buy something new...That's what I'm thinking of:

C2D E8500 or C2Q Q9450

Radeon HD4870

4 GB DDR2

Asus P5Q PRO P45

Cost: about 500 EUR

Everything else stays the same (casing, HDD, 550W power supply, good old 19" Samsung, no name Logitech keyboard and G5 mouse)

This all could change, I'm waiting till November. Could get everything above cheaper/something better for the same price.

Quick question -

is the NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT 512MB a good card?

Is it recommended that I upgrade, and if so, to what card?

Yeah, it's not, definitely not. If you have the budget buy a GF 9800 or that new ATI card that I forgot its name. They will crush GF 8800 XD

Is this good? Will it last me? As in like, it wont become outdated too soon?
