Tony Mozzarelli 80
No RAP is not the only genre that has any originality, that's just mis-informed. And metal is not for children that's just ignorance. And the other guy arguing with him is even worse. Starts out saying that people's opinions are based on ignorance and they need to be educated on the subject, and then goes on to negate it by declaring several genres of music to be utter trash. Take your own advice.
Crazy Asian
^^I think you may have misunderstood my post, or I typed some things wrong. I can't be assed to make it more understandable. LCHC is hardcore punk rock (back in the day...just hardcore, but then metal jumped on it and it is now what we know as hardcore). Bands like Slayer and Motor Head are punk influenced metal. Rap is the only genre with a shred of originality in the music business today. Only immature little kids and manchildren enjoy metal. Whoa whoa whoa whoa there buddy...original? Every artists' songs are all about the same sh*t. Literally...they are all exactly the same songs with a different tune and beat. how is that in ANYWAY original? The only decent hip-hop that I can tolerate (and listen to) is pretty much anything that isn't...mainstream. All that sh*t on MTV or the radio is literally utter sh*t. And you only make yourself look dumb and ignorant by saying 'this and that' (can't be arsed to re-type or go back and copy and paste or explain) about metal and hip-hop. Especially your comparison between hip-hop and metal fans on page two. Sure, that Slayer fan (can't be arsed to look back and find his handle) may have been ignorant in saying all hip-hop sucks, but you are just as ignorant ((actually...even more) but being ignorant isn't a bad thing (necessarily), it just means you need to be educated on that subject). The only genres of music that are total utter trash are country and reggeton oh and Grindcore and deathcore and any kind of core that just isn't plain hardcore because pig squealing inhales suck. Basically what I am saying is...HAVE AN OPEN MIND! Sure, it's ok to dislike something...but don't make yourself look like an idiot by doing so. im not reading all this garbage but heres a fact: You are wrong. Then you sir are an idiot. Not Punk, wtf is wrong with you? INFLUENCED...is the keyword.
AndresGTA
If gta iv was so modern about the music then why didn't they adda radiostation with artists like: T-pain, Lil Wayne, Usher, Baby bash, T.I, akon, Sean kingston, Chris brown? it fits perfectly with liberty city (NY)??? Because these are all really, REALLY bad musicians. IMO!!!

Most people from NYC can't stand that crap myself included... Half of that list is southern rappers and the other half mainly appeal to women... Rockstar went with a more grittier east coast sound which was the right thing to do but the old school station was a huge let down for me, i really thought Rockstar was going to deliver some classic hip hop with that station...I thought that station was going to be loaded with NYC street legends...What happened? Wheres Rakim, KRS, KGR, MC Shan, Public Enemy, Big L etc...All i remember hearing was some Nas and Mob Deep...Huge let down...

trip
guys, i really enjoyed reading this thread. i have some news that might scare the sh*t out of ya. first off - i am old enough to be the father of most of the people around these forums. thanks to my age i grew up during some great music times. needless to say, i am heavy into music. --true story from this morning(i'll try to keep it brief)-- i was walking to a 9am meeting at another building, and one of my work buddies was walking to get coffee. this guy is an amazing guitar player and very much into metal. he has even played with some well known people from well known bands. he told me he went to see the movie 'mama mia' lastnight with his chick. naturally, i gave him 'a look'. he went on to tell me that he has never put on an ABBA song, but he knows every song and lyric thanks to his growing up and his parents. he then went on to say he was upset at some of the songs that weren't in the movie. he even commented on the 'butchering' of some of the songs. so - bottom line is.....keep your mind open, because you never know what you will appreciate in the years to come. Except the scale is tipped way in the side of Metal Fans being stupid fa**ots about rap. Damo.
Why does modern have to mean that rap shit? That "music" isn't rap, it's just sh*t. My favourite genre is rock, but I enjoy a bit of rap from time to time. Good rap, like Atmosphere. The thing is, people judge rap unfairly because they hear sh*t like Lil' Wayne and jump to the conclusion that all rap is like that. Also, I don't get this forums' obsession with metal. What annoys me the most is that stupid "98% of teens listen to rap" thing. It's more like the opposite, every second new member has that in their sig. Don't judge rap because you have heard 50 Cent and Lil Wayne rap about their chain and hoes. Go listen to some underground/old school rap then come and talk. The idiots using these bullshit on their sig pisses me off even more. That has led me to mock them in my own signature.

Another plain, "fuck this, that one is the best" post. well. its true. rap is garbage You are garbage. Don't think your opinion is 'true' just because you have too many dickheads backing you up. i don't think im right cause i have all these dick heads backing me up. i don't know what country you live in but in America i have the right to free speech and will use it. here are a few reasons why i hate rap. 1. ALMOST all (notice i didnt say all) rap sounds the same. just some guy talking, not singing, about doin drugs and having sex with women. 50 cent, lil wayne, the other 900 "lil" people out there amongst others, all sound exactly the same to me. id have to say the only true to heart rapper out there is eminem. not because hes white but because he sings about other things then drugs and women. i will listen to him anytime. 2. the music isn't even music. its just some computer produced sound that is played over and over and over. playing a guitar or drums or actually singing takes years of practice and hard work. pressing a button or flipping a switch dosnt. so basically, those are my reasons for despising rap. your probably not even gonna read that but whatever. Flesh-n-Bone
I read it and you want me to mention some rappers that doesn't rap about women and drugs? Give a listen to the following: Chuck D (Public Enemy) Nas Immortal Technique KRS-One Rakim They are five rappers that will get you into the music well and.... no you wont hear any 'sex with women' and 'doin drugs' in them. It doesn't matter where I'm from, wherever it is, wont really change anything... 1. Your first point and 'excuse' has been taken care of above. And it's not 'talking', it's 'rapping', requires rhyming skills, subject matter and a good voice. 2. No it's not "computer produced sounds". Rap music is about lyrics but many dickheads like Soulja Boy, 50 Cent and Lil Wayne use it as a good vantage to get rich and famous. I think that sums up the fact you are a plain biased metal head. This is the point I was trying to make. You hear all this chart-topping over-produced sh*t and think the rest must be like that. I'd recommend Immortal Technique. His music has a great message. He addresses real issues, not all this "I f*cked a bitch when I was high" crap.

I'm insulting because people get on my nerves when they little about a thing and bash it. And yeah it's true that you are biased and know little about rap, I'm not blaming you for it, but the radio's, it's their fault people start to think all rap is the same garbage you hear on the radio. You admitted that you've judged rap music in general by hearing the radio which I also think is crap. Now good luck with trying to listening to some quality hip hop. You don't see me going around insulting people, I only do that when they start going to far off the limit and annoy you. And for your adding post, no I don't hate metal at all - my sig is there only to mock the idiots bashing rap and claiming to have 'stayed with metal'.
