LOL at all the little kids bashing rap in this thread. Heres a cheque, go buy a clue.

Actually from what I've seen, only little kids (especially 12 and 13 year olds) listen to rap and all the mature adults hate rap (like all of them hate that Soulja Sh*t). I may be 15, but I'm all rock and metal. Death metal for life.

Yeah. No. Rap is the only genre with a shred of originality in the music business today. Only immature little kids and manchildren enjoy metal.

You know what. People have their right to their opinions. They can just say what they like and shut the f*ck up. If they have something bad to say about rap/metal or anything else, they can go f*ck themselves. suicidal.gif

Your welcome. Anyways, you know what pisses me off. Hypocrites. I mean, I really don't care if people like rap (don't see how they can listen to Soulja Sh*t), but they say death metal is a whole bunch of yelling. I mean pretty sure there is a lot more talent in yelling at the top of your lungs for five minutes without taking a breather and playing an electric guitar than talking with a computer or a disc spinner that repeats the three to five same notes the entire song. Like I said, I don't care if somebody listens to rap, but maybe they should think how much more talent it takes to play an actual instrument than spinning a disc or using a computer that does the same thing the entire song. Really, I like some Insane Clown Posse music, but most other rap (especially modern rap) is too overrated and gets annoying the very first time it's played. And to people that say I'm racist, I never said I hate blacks. I listen to some Isaac Hayes (R.I.P. again), but I just don't like most rap because it is crap IMO. You have some rap artists that have mild talent; however, there are very few of those from what I've seen.

On-topic: I find it good that they use more unknown artists other than too many well-known ones because it possibly expands your variety of favorite songs and artists. I love the song Back to Back by Underdog on L.C.H.C.

To tell the truth, I listen to rap and hip hop. Now let me tell you, the modern stuff sucks balls. Well, at least all the sh*t they play on the radio irl. Soulja Boy sucks so much.

But still, it has to take a fair amount of talent/skill to make the rhymes for rap songs. Most of the time in rap, the singer talks/sings faster than in rock songs, so there's more lyrics, so there needs to be more rhymes.

True! Almost all (if not all) of the talent of rap is to be in the rhymes, lyrics, and how they control how fast they sing. Soulja Boy's rhyme book basically came out of a Cracker Jack box. I found some of the hip-hop or whatever music on VC a little addicting though, it just fitted VC so much.

Soulja Boy just sounds immature and anoying to me. Like his song's lyrics sound like they were written by a 9 year old.

VC's Hip hop is the really old stuff. Thats more like jazz than rap. I like the early 90's hip hop.

god guys calm the f*ck down.

music is a way of expressing moods and emotions.

rap is about being the best and having all the best sh*t and perhaps killing someone.

(death)metal is about being angry and perhaps killing... someone... lol

its all different moods guys, don't hate the music they listen to just hate the mood they are fixated on.

personally i can tolerate some rap and i am absolutely infatuated with death metal because i like being mad, it makes me feel better.

I do agree that GTAIV's soundtrack seems to be lacking in comparison to previous iterations. I have a feeling it is because Vice City and San Andreas were set in the past, so they could easily pick out songs that have proved themselves to be classic and definitive of that respective era. However, since IV is set in present day, Rockstar doesn't have retrospective advantage anymore. And plus, the danger of selecting lesser-known artists is that people playing the game will feel like the in-game radio does not reflect what they actually hear on their radios in real-life.

f*ckin great point!

Finally people are catching on.

And NO, death metal is not exclusively about angry sh*t... just like not all rap is about being a thug. People love their stereotypes, don't they? Zee, hold your breath until you feel gray.

By your logic Deathcore and Grindcore are the same thing except one has lyrics "about being angry and perhaps killing". Lyrical content has nothing to do with Rap vs Hip-hop nor Grincdore vs Deathcore vs Deathgrind -- it's all about the music as a cohesive whole. Now Genres such as Dirty South and Goregrind/Hydrogrind do have lyrical themes that are specific to their genres while making use of an already established musical sound ("chopped & screwed" and "grind" respectively).

EDIT: To be clear: San Juan Sounds > L.C.H.C by a longshot. Before buying the game I expected my opinion to be the opposite, but I cannot stand punk and LCHC is more punk than metal. San Juan has the best bass in the game and the fact that I cannot understand the lyrics gave me one less thing to dislike. I still use internet radio most of the time while playing (usually http://www.deathmetal.at or http://death.fm)

I prefer when they use songs I most likely will not hear on my own radio.  GTA IV's soundtrack sucks though.  The only station I can tolerate is Tuff Gong.

Simple solution.

- Go listen to your Radio

- Turn down the music volume in the game

- Stop bitching about your crap music.

PS. How can you tolerate rap?

Learn to read. I said I prefer they use songs I do NOT hear on my own radio. And Tuff Gong isn't rap. It's reggae. And I'd rather listen to rap than the trash they play on LCHC, Vladiostok, and the 3 worst talk radio stations they've come up with.

LCHC is hardcore punk rock (back in the day...just hardcore, but then metal jumped on it and it is now what we know as hardcore). Bands like Slayer and Motor Head are punk influenced metal.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa there buddy...original? Every artists' songs are all about the same sh*t. Literally...they are all exactly the same songs with a different tune and beat. how is that in ANYWAY original? The only decent hip-hop that I can tolerate (and listen to) is pretty much anything that isn't...mainstream. All that sh*t on MTV or the radio is literally utter sh*t. And you only make yourself look dumb and ignorant by saying 'this and that' (can't be arsed to re-type or go back and copy and paste or explain) about metal and hip-hop. Especially your comparison between hip-hop and metal fans on page two. Sure, that Slayer fan (can't be arsed to look back and find his handle) may have been ignorant in saying all hip-hop sucks, but you are just as ignorant ((actually...even more) but being ignorant isn't a bad thing (necessarily), it just means you need to be educated on that subject). The only genres of music that are total utter trash are country and reggeton oh and Grindcore and deathcore and any kind of core that just isn't plain hardcore because pig squealing inhales suck.

Basically what I am saying is...HAVE AN OPEN MIND! Sure, it's ok to dislike something...but don't make yourself look like an idiot by doing so.

No genre of music is inherently bad. If you hate any particular genre of music, it's only because you have not heard the good stuff. the majority of music made of every genre is complete sh*t, you have to wade through all the sh*t that was created just to capitalize on a good thing, but when you do you will hear some good music in all genres, that is assuming you have an open mind and are not just basing your opinion on a particular style of music on your own prejudices and blind ignorance.

Yeah well it's the same thing with rock as it is for hip hop, if you base your opinion on what you hear on the radio, you would end up thinking it is sh*t. Because these f*cking no talent f*ckers who are all over the radio, have just been picked up on for their image. Record producers know they will sell so they just churn them out over and over again. None of them will be remembered in a few years time because they will have merely been replaced by the next bloke who looks and sounds exactly the same. Then to keep thing selling they just crate a new sub-genre which is barely distinguishable from the original genre, then rinse and repeat. From a business point of view it's f*cking genius, but it's a shame because people don't get to hear all the great music out there unless they look hard for it. But hey i like what i like, and if people wanna listen to crap then i say let them.
