daviescirca93
Well I'm buying a PS3 by the end of this week and I read this article in the Official PS3 Mag; Do I need a HDTV to play PS3?Simple answer: no. You can connect your PS3 to almost any standard definition TV using the composite lead supplied with the console. Do yourself a favor, though, and upgrade to a superior RGB SCART lead. I bolded the thing that's confusing me. What's the difference between a regular composite scart lead and an RGB scart? And where can I get them from? Thanks in advance. JayC
I would recommend you wait till you've got a HDTV. Or, get a VGA cable and use it with a computer monitor.

Haha, HDTV ain't never gonna happen for me That's my TV, I've hooked it up to my laptop with success. Will a VGA cable work on this?
JayC
Yeah VGA will work fine with that and it should look much better than SCART.

Just one more question; how would I hook the PS3 to the LCD via a VGB cable? I may be wrong, but I thought PS3s didn't have a VGA port? And I have a VGA cable already I think (because I was able to connect laptop to the monitor) should I be good to go with the VGA I have now? JayC
Basically you need a HDMI to VGA cable. Sony doesn't make an official one unfortunately.
poopskin
i honestly think Hi-Def ain't that important. Regular Def worked for the PS2, why can't it work for the PS3?

Ah yeah I know what you mean, I'd be able to get one at Currys or PC World right? I think for now I'll go with the RGB SCART then later on switch to VGA poopskin: High Def's the future, so to speak, and if I'm getting a PS3 with IV, I wanna experience it with the best quality I can without access to a HDTV Edited August 13, 2008 by daviescirca93

Because it is a bitch to read text, and it offers much better quality all around.
