cacarla
Delete the .set file from the user files folder and play the game. If this still doesnt work then perform a Re-install of the game.. But before that try running the game in win98/00 compatibility
Naseem Srour
And if you don't know how to try the windows 98 compatilibilty mode, click here.
gtamodder
I have heard that with only 256MB RAM on XP, it would cause crashes because about all memory is being used by the OS. This what happened on my friends laptop. He increased RAM to 1gb and that fixed it. Try increasing your RAM.

I first had 256mb of RAM and the game worked the fine but later i had to upgrade to 512mb which is my current position. Also ending some the processes in task manager will withdraw the pressure of the system..
Arkeid
Does it show a BSOD (Blue Screen with Errors) ??? If yes: Try to check your RAM. If No:Video Cards or OS.

If yes, can you just sail around SA without the game crashing. If yes again then its not your RAM problem because if it's your RAM thats causing how can you travel along the roads without the game crashing? there must be something else. Right click on your gta sa. exe and then go to run as, now select Administrator.
gtamodder
Also, I have heard with the Nvidia FX (FX 5200, 5700), I have seen a lot of people having crashes with these cards. Also, when you said 1gb card, do you mean a USB one or a one for inside the PC (In the memory slots?). If it's USB, I don't think it can work as RAM if you are using XP. N3Th3r
yes i can travel around the game and do everithing unless entering vehicles (the bikes dont cause crash) atempting missions or entering buildings , also it dosent crash all of the times when i enter the cars or buildings or missions ... 50% of the time it does. anyway i can run around travel by byke , kill etc and it dosent crash if its not because of the ram , than what else can it be ? maybe im cursed or something i runned as administrator but still crushed that 1GB RAM card was for inside the PC for the memory slots so i had 1,25GB RAM and it still crushed yeah... it could be because of the Nvidia FX , but what can i do to fix it ? Girish
Do you have a period (.) in your Windows User Account name? Create a new user account without a period (.) and reinstall the game to that user account.
freak01
that happens if u have a . in the user acount name.. just change it
N3Th3r
no i dont have a " . " in the user account name ... i could save the game before installing this patch... what else can cause this ?
Girish
I was just browsing through Google and came across a similar problem with no solution when using that crash fix patch. So, I believe the fault lies with the patch. Does the game work if you just plain reinstall with no patch/cracks?
N3Th3r
yeah i can save/load with no problems... but without this patch my game crashes when entering buildings/cars or during missions i tryed making some photos with the camera ... but they do not appear in the gallery ... so the game dosent detect the directory...is there anyway i can set the game's directory ?
