To the second inquirey which is posed as a statement.>>The first words out of my mouth were, "Oh MY GOD!" Bad? I wouldn't say that it is bad just intense. New Human Life starts intense and remains so for the parents yet it depends if you bond with the child properly. Yes, there are both Maternal and Paternal Instincts yet I hear it told than not everyone bonds properly and do not develope them. If you want to undestand what those sorts of things feel like then you are well on your way. Intense.....is the best word to describe the whole thing, really. After mom goes to sleep there will be plenty of time to eat. Go to lamaze with her....seriously, it is both educational and very assistive with perspective. Go to lamaze with her! Just something for you to consider if you are worth your salt, IMO.
Ronnyboy
First off, I would like to say congratulations. Being a father is a large, but rewarding responsibility. You will get to watch something you made, grow up and become an adult. You will laugh, cry, and teach with your son. I hope that you become a successful father and enjoy the lie of Fatherhood. Star-Lord
Congrats! I'm a proud father of two a boy and a girl Alyssa and Nikolas,i guess life has been good to me and has bless me with two beautiful kids whom I deeply love and will do anything for them. Being a father has made me more stronger more responsible and more mature. I guess you grow with them, it's a beautiful thing. When we are kids we sometimes take for granted our parents but when you become one all we want to do is love them and be there for them always and you my friend will feel the same way once your newborn arrives you will feel your life does have a new meaning and your see your soul through their eyes. You will transform into a whole new person and life will become your kids. I have never cried i guess in my adult life, like the day my son was born the emotion was too much to handle i cried of happiness it's really hard to explain but it was wonderful. Struff Bunstridge
Congratulations. I'm not a father yet, but my girl and I are seriously broody at the moment. We're currently applying to be part-time foster carers, so that we can provide for some needy children without initially having the long-term responsibilities. And, of course, we can practice for a bit before doing it for real.

tootricky
I'm not going to lie to you... the first few months can be a shock to the system... tiredness... not knowing what the f*ck to do! All I'll say is just roll with stuff, don't panic, support each and things will be fine. After that it's a breeze I'd agree that discipline is important... and by that I mean not pandering to the babies needs tooo much.. With a baby sometimes it is just as good to let them cry a little bit so they learn to settle themselves: I remember with our first, we would stay up for hours with him trying to get him to sleep... with the second we were a lot less worried and we let her learn to settle herself much more quickly. I'm as squeamish as they come, but I have watched both my kids being born... and I mean watched!! Edited August 12, 2008 by tootricky

From what others have said, i know your life will most likely change dramastically. Make the right decisions, and help them through life or else they will fall in the wrong hands. Picolini
How old are you two? Can't give you any advice, personally, as I have no kids yet. THANK JEBUS. Sorry to say that, but you seem happy although understandably nervous, about it so I'm sure you don't mind. I don't want any for a good 5 years. At least. Typhus
She's your best friend? I wasn't aware that friends usually slept together. Really? You've never encountered this? I've certainly encountered a lot of people in relationships who claim that their f*ckbuddy is their best friend. Personally I don't see the logic behind it. A friend and a breeding partner seem like two seperate things to me.
Struff Bunstridge
Ah, but casual sex for pleasure and sex for procreation aren't the same thing.
Typhus
True, I just think too much importance is placed on it. You sleep with a girl, you hang out with her a lot, do you therefore have some moral obligation to think of her as your best friend? Or are those feelings genuine?
Struff Bunstridge
I've never been in that situation, to be honest, but I reckon it's usually best friend, then sex, rather than the other way round.
