_TheGman_
Hello everybody! While there have been good races all along, the quality has improved. What do I mean? Most are familiar with the kick vote system now More people are willing to wait, to get a bigger race(more people) Hosts are more likely to "not allow" auto aim, cuts down on the DM matches and griefers Host are choosing few laps 1-2, also cuts down on " " There is still room for improvement.... Be patient, a race can fill up in less than 1-2 mins Don't quit! I've gone from worst to first so many times....hang in there keep going! I respect those who finish what they start! Most of my favorite "moments" have been GTA racing. There is nothing quite like 16 super cars headed for turn 1 balls out! Just last night.... 1 lap race 14 pl, I got grenades killed 5. Battling for 4th I missed the on ramp, went parallel. I had to turn around and head back down the correct ramp to get the way point, when I got close, I swung the sabre into a spin. Two of the people I had killed were approaching at top scooter speed, and were meet with the broadside of my sabre at 70mph. Both died instantly! I bet they were swearing at me! I wasn't even trying to kill them, I was trying to hit the check point, and turn around at the same time.... I laughed and laughed. 7 kills finished third 1 lap race. lol Tell me your thoughts/experiences in GTA racing.

beanmike206
i like racing on gta, the handling realistic enough. i love racing games, so i know how to corner well, when to break. and i catch up and over take noobs with ease
Celtic_Assasinz
I gotta agree with this, especially the auto aim disallow in GTA race. Makes for a better game without having to worry about that griefer ahead setting up a roadblock for the easy kills. I mainly play GTA race with a bunch of friends who all have mics so we usually wait about for the bigger races.
The Moot
Yes Racing Rulz! THe people who go backwards on the map grind my gears you know? but that's part of the anarchy that is GTA. about to finish first! yes, yes yes! nooooo!! the guy in the bus (we all know him). [email protected]!!
_TheGman_
Hey fellow racers! Oh the anarchy! The bus is the most devastating. I've seen people park them in front of 1 lane highway on ramps. There is nothing quite like the site of 10 super cars desperately trying to get over, through, under, or around a bus in the way. The downside is I have also seen 6-10 person races devolve into all out death matches. Remember if your 3rd,4th,5th etc. the people who have finished are watching. Time running out, why not put on a show. Jump something, die in a fun way lol. I love this game!
Jenna_Taylier
The worst is when you are on a race with a really long course, and its 7 or 8 laps and you are in 1st, 2nd or 3rd and you are on the 8th lap and a grifer armed with a rocket launcher blows you into 6th place 10 yards from the finish. Or, you finish 1st and have to wait for an hour for the death match to end while in spectator mode. The matches should end after the 3rd position has been placed seeing as how you can't win any money other than by death matching for any other position. Spuds725
For the larger races you can make money beyond 3rd place-- I want to say I've seen it for 5th or 6th place (at least $50). There doesn't seem to be any consistency in prize money at times-- is there a formula somewhere on how the prize money works... I do agree that their should at least be a host setting to end the race say one or two "average lap times" after the winner finishes or something else including leaving it as is (unlimited if they want to allow a deathmatch-- or at least let the finishers join the deathmatch ), then any excess prize money not won (say in a larger race) is distributed among the players that finished-- and in the case of the winner, i they win by a large margin could earn alot of cash if nobody else finishes or if everyone stops to fight. There is lots of room for improvement in the MP games... I hope the programmers are listening... SephirothX
If someone kills you in GTA Race, no matter how they do it, they are not a griefer. I'm amazed people are even throwing the term around. If you don't want people driving backwards, blowing you up with a rocket launcher or setting road blocks you can play Race. Of course people can still drive backwards on Race and set up limited road blocks but they'll be kicked. The only thing I find unacceptable in a GTA Race is people having a 20 minute deathmatch after people have started to finish the race. They should allow people who have finished a race a way to kick. If the host sets it to 1 lap I will either join a different game or leave the race as soon as I go off the track as not only does it make it impossible to compete for a top lap but it also makes it impossible to win a race after going off unless everyone infront of you also gets thrown off at some point. When I host I set the laps based on the track. Something short like Stars in your Eyes will get at least 5 while a track you can complete in under 1:30 will get 3 and everything else 2. If auto aim is off, likewise I will leave if my car is overturned early in the race. I'm not going to sit around for ten minutes and not even have a chance at making any money. Auto aim is pretty much a necessity for shooting a moving driver. It's hard enough with it on.
muscularmatt
it does make me laugh when like 90% of people just keep their finger on the accelerate button ALL THE TIME and just wipe out on the first major corner
SephirothX
The first corner is a tough one. If you do try to slow down for it you're going to get rammed from behind and there's a risk of you going out the race. Your position on the starting grid means a lot when it comes to successfully getting around it. Being in the middle on the outside of the approaching corner is the worst. _TheGman_
Hey guy n gals I got my ass kicked a lot last night, even drove off a cliff...oops! I did however get a rocket launcher and poised right after a jump. Shot at the ground just as the cars went shooting off the hill. Priceless watching the flaming wrecks emerge from the explosion in mid air. hey SephirothX I did not mean any disrespect. "griefer" is just a term I thought appropriate. I hope you can see most folks get that, it is part of a GTA race. I too go a' killin sometimes. It is however best in small doses, 1 or 2 "death traps" is plenty. I have too agree that the everlasting deathmatch is the biggest flaw in GTA racing. Personally I don't give a crap about money, stats etc. I just like to have fun, see cars do insane things, and knowing your competing/playing with other people is just sick! Turn 1, oh sht is crazy. I have been the guy left with a toasted car, as the other 15 drive/limp away, several times. IMHO get to the inside, brake late, get back on the gas ASAP. The old quote might help "sometimes when cornering you have to go slow to be quick." I play LFS so the driving part, I'm good at. It's the shooting and driving the fuks me up. LFS="live for speed" BTW PC racing at it's best! See you out there! too all GTA Racers!

Of course you could get in a car yourself and follow people but finding a replacement supercar isn't always easy. A slower car than what you're following won't keep up. Jenna_Taylier
The grifers can be quite funny. I remember finishing a race once and going into spectator mode and seeing another driver causing a blockage of cars. A driver would come round the bend and plow into the road block at 200mph dodge a hail of bullets from the grieifer and speed on. The greifer would then franticly rearrange his cars in the road block ready for the next player, a bit like a spider trying to catch flies. It was hilarious to watch, particularly as the greifer was totally unsucsesfull.
Kill clAudio
I can't stand those people (and they always seem to be the majority) who insist on accelerating at top speed around corners then proceed to wipe out in front of you or behind when you're attempting to slow down. For god's sake there is a brake for a reason, use it.
CTDiesel
In GTA race, going backwards or setting up a roadblock is NOT griefing. It's another way to keep you from finishing in a good spot, which seems to be the point of GTA race. It's just another challenge to overcome. I've had it happen countless times but have managed to get through on many occasions. IMO a griefing racer (race or gta race) can often be seen in advance and you have enough time to maneuver in a fashion where you will miss each other. Plus that AI in the game screws you up more than a greifer does most of the time.
Erados
I sacrifice my own winning position to sideswipe and wipe out cars in the first turn. Works best with a Comet. Nudge the side of a car, send him spinning over in front of you, and watch 3 other cars behind you slam into the spinning car.
Cyrius
The very first times I tried the races I had bad experiences with roadblocks and spawnkillers. So I havent played it since the gamerelease. Just tried a couple of races after reading this topic. And I did kinda get hoccked. Did even win a couple of races, guess all those carchases in Cops&Crocks and Mafia Work payd of. Just one thing Im wondering thoug. If people dislike these roadblock users. Why do they put Auto Aim on. If they turn it off, then at least the "griefer" as they call him must have some skill to be sucsessfull. And the majority who does race are in a car, so they will have free aim anyhow, so putting Auto Aim on, really only helps the roadblocker!

One dude (on PSN) named Clubmed1 is a pro at it, racks up about 25-30 kills per game. Sick sh*t. The only griefers I don't like are the ones who fixate on one or two players....I like the ones who spread the misery. I'm learning how to grief but most times I like running the course and trying to finish at least 3rd place
Spuds725
I was in an exhaust fumes race not too long ago-- 5 laps-- 2 guys working together started killing while I was on my 2nd lap (they set up a kill zone near the turn by the tunnel) I got by them a few times without dying (got one of them with a grenade on one lap)... on the final lap with me in first, they took me out about 9 times before I finally got past them-- I ended up in 2nd place-- they ended up with about 35 kills between them (about 20 and 15) Was still fun-- as mentioned before- it adds another dimension to the game... if you don't want to get shot/blown up.... stay away from GTA Race..... Foppezão
I like Gta race with traffic at medium (in normal race do turn it off) 3 or 4 laps and AA off.. Best weapon definitally the grenades, when first (and im pretty good at winning the first corner) you can take all the weapons and the grenades pownes all the opponents, when they're approaching just behind hold the grenade a little longer then when it ticks throw and its usually succesfull, the grenade is also usefull against griefers, last time i first drove this kid over, then 2 times blew him up when passing by..shooting backwards is also worth learning, first i thought it was cool of making a handbrake u-turn driving backwards and then shooting through the front window, looked pretty cool but just shooting backwards is easier(learnt that later actually!) most coolest thing was free(gta)race, one of my favorite is high and lows. i was all the way second and i knew to take the ramp to jump into the boat at the end but the first and me bumped into something and got into the water, i stood up in the boat took my m4 and shot the guy when he just nearly almost touched the finish-checkpoint with his toes! men i actually felt sorry for him The guy really started grieving at me on the next race when i shot him from his bicycle and got first again..damn...love it.. kokot
I played last night and turned around because it was clear I wasn't going to get any money after losing it bad on the first lap. So f*ck it, might as well have some fun. Somebody should set up a racing club, and if we can all agree on the settings.. As for the guy who likes Auto-aim, usually if you have an ak or something you can at least go for the tires. A supercar without tires isn't much better than a faggio. Personally I'd like to see - 2 laps (except Stars in your eyes) - Different map every race, including cannonball - Different vehicle class every race, except boat or helicopter - Auto aim off - All weapons Edited September 25, 2008 by kokot
