PC. Since it has better graphics, higher resolution, modding capabilities, keyboard and mouse (I hate f*cking autoaim), by alt tab I can come here, talk with friends. find out cheats and... the list is too f*cking big though.

I never had a choice, I knew... PS user, PS3 future user...  As well as any new PS evolution that cares to remain B/C.

As far as PC, the MS Xbox is close kin, so most titles will be on PC. If you don't buy a PC capable of 3D gaming, you're shooting your self in the foot

well either way im am certain of getting the ps3 version soon cause i am low on cash i need to do few more saturday jobs and then ill be fine. but yea i will get gta iv on the pc either way and this is kinda off topic but would you say the ati radeon hd2600 is capable of running gta iv..speak honest wink.gif

On low settings.. I have the same one, but I'm getting a new pc dozingoff.gif

PC. Comparing a PC version to a console version is like comparing a mini-gun to a water pistol. No contest.

Yeah, can you take and shoot a minigun underwater? I dont think so. devil.gif

Yeah but how lethal is a water pistol under water ? about as lethal as it is on dry land. Whilst you may not be able to take a minigun under water it will devastate anything on dry land, unlike a crappy lil water pistol biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

Yeah but the PC, you can't press 3 buttons at a time or it will make that annoying sounds. Controllers you can press all the buttons at the same time. Sorry, but that's our own opinions, but showing some people have stronger pc's, they might love it more on the pc. = )No offence or anything.

Erm perhaps if you didn't use £4.99 keyboards from PC world you might find you can press more than 3 KEYS at once. I always find it funny how people defend the joypad. If it is such a superior control system why is there a 5 page thread in multiplayer were joypad users are moaning and whinging about the fragfx ?????? I mean surely if the joypad is soooooooo superior they shouldn't need to worry about someone with the fragfx now. Don't believe me here is the link :-

At the end of the day there are very valid reasons for choosing the PC version. Those that want the best out of gaming ie HIGH frame rates, HIGH resolutions and a control scheme that gives you PROPER control over the game will always choose the PC and they are willing to pay that little bit extra for the privilege.

I tried the console route and I will never try it again, I will happily get the PC version when it comes out and I will stay with the PC from now on GTA or NO GTA.

Or you can just buy a controller for the PC or better yet buy a better keyboard.

well mabey somebody like me wants the pc version of the game but there pc or LAPTOP has not got high enough specs.

so since my laptop will be able to run gta iv medium or a little above im ok. but like you have said so many times on the pc spec forum we cannot predict anthing since R* havnt made the specs anoouncment.thats why im also getting it on ps3 my first console i have had since i was born...beside this toy thing i had when i was 4 years old.

I always find it funny how people defend the joypad.

The funniest thing is you get to choose between joypad and the mouse & keyboard on the pc. The ps3 pad works with every game that supports joypads that I've tryed and I assume the 360 pad is the same?

Tbh unless R* bugger up the pc version somehow I cant see how anyone could prefer the console versions at all other than jealousy 'cause they have a crappy pc that cant run it tounge.gif

Going by the past games it'll be the same game just alot better looking and smoother.

I prefer it on ps3 because I can play it for as long as I want without having to worry about the console breaking thus leaving me with no fun to be had because the console is of for a repair and also I like the position of the anologue sticks on the ps3 controller but I think the xbox controller looks better and has better triggers but that's about it for the xbox and as for the pc well the controlls weren't designed for gaming so the suck and you have to have the right pc to make it work properly so I like it better on ps3.

360 Version, in a second.

Reasons:

1) I also have the PS3 version, and while a solid version, it's more blurrier then the 360(and rendered in 640p as well, compared to 720p on the 370), it's colors are too overdone and the brightness is turned up way too high(even the in game sliders don't correct this).

Add in a weaker online(not many PS3 users use voice) as well as no achievements.

The 360's only problem is some minor pop in, but that will not be a problem with the update coming this fall from MS, that will allow full installs onto the 360's HDD.

2) I have been pc gaming since the late 80's, but the difference in graphics is not as great as it was say in the late 90's.

Now on a good rig you probably could run IV in 720p with much better FSAA and AF'ing, maybe even 1080p with little/no FSAA.

But let's not go overboard, because the differences in Bioshock on the 360 and pc were not that great, as well as Oblivion.

The 360 version runs at 30fps but with only 2XFSAA, so IV's engine is really taxing the 360's hardware.

I'd expect 720p with say 8XFSAA and a good level of AF'ing as well with a more steady and a bit higher frame rate, on the top pc rigs, but nothing more.

One more thing, it will be nasty to mod the pc version, compared to other games out now or the GTA games of the past.

3) The 360 has it's advantages to the pc, such as:

The most important advantage of tem all is the 360's exclusive DLC's.

No pc advanatge or a combination of them, could make up for the upcoming DLC's exclusive to the 360.

And it's not like the 360 does not have other advantages over the pc, such as:

-Online over Live is a better experience then on the pc and many pc users still don't use voice.

-Say what you want about the keyboard/mouse, but on the controllers you can run Niko at different speeds, while on the pc only 2 speeds.

Add in it's just alot more convenient to have all actions on one gamepad compared to mapping your keyboard to have them all within reaching area.

Also it's still a crapshoot to find the perfect gamepad for all pc games, let alone even for IV alone. (the best gamepad for SA on the pc, was actually the DS2-PS2's with an adapter)

-I'm playing IV on a 34" Sony(HDMI w/7.1 sound) in my den, and i cannot imagine playing it on my 20" pc monitor, hunched over..two feet away.

I'll be getting a 42"/50" in the future, and while it's possible to set up a HTPC on to that, it's not as easy as you would think, and noware as hassle free/plug & play as the consoles are.

And IV is _alot_ more cinimatic then SA was, so it needs a big screen to show it off.

Add in that the pc lacks achievements as well.

4) If you have a life(i'm married with a 4yr old son) you know it's so much easier(and faster) to jump into an online game with voice on Live, compared to playing any pc game online.

I'd easily take playing IV on the 360 with the upcoming DLC's on a much bigger screen, then on the best pc rig available.

1. There is a HUGE difference in image quality between a game on the PC, and a game on the Xbox 360.

2. The framerate differences a lot. On the xbox/ps3 the framerate easily dips into the 20's, sometimes even into the 10's. And it never gets above 30 fps! That's barely playable.

3. I think you severely underestimate the power of a good PC, since GTA 4 will probably be very playable on "1080p" (please just use the standard resolution grammar: 1920x1080, wayy easier to read), even with AA.

4. You can not know how easily the game will be mod-able. For all whe know, R* can be releasing an SDK...

5. Who cares about the DLC, if you can make mods? DLC is limited, with mods, the sky is the limit!

6. Don't tell me the "live" network is better than the biggest computer network out there: the Internet. It's not. And LOTS of PC gamers use voice. Maybe you should play a little more PC games? (CS, or TF2 perhaps?)

7. AAARHG. If you don't like the WASD, just connect your xbox/ps3/wii/dvd-player controller to you PC. Dont tell me it's not possible, it is. I sometimes use my WiiMote to control my mouse in windows.

8. You can connect your PC to your HD-television, if you want... Easily possibe. Lot's of videocards support HDMI / DVI, and most of them are HTPC compatible.

9. Why oh why are you so sure that "live" is more easier than the Internet?

Analog sticks work on the pc too

The only thing you have in that post is the dlc, even then how can you be so certain is going to be exclusive to the 360 for ever, longer than a few months or even worth it?

i own a ps3, have no plans for getting it for the PC, but still i wish i had it on xbox 360 because of the exlusive DLC and achievments, but anyway, ps3 is most likely getting DLC too(shared with xbox) and trophies patched in

Anyone who prefers the console version Of GTA4 probably can't afford a decent computer to play the PC version because this is honestly a no brainer...I would go with the PC version and i wouldn't even think about it...PC offers much better performance and visuals plus limitless mods...

9. Why oh why are you so sure that "live" is more easier than the Internet?

1)Let's not go overboard, i have played Oblivion/Bioshock/COD 4 on the pc(4gig w/512MB ATI video card) and the 360.

Yes there is a difference, but not nearly as pronounced as the Xbox1 was compared to the solid rigs in 2004'.(i'm using an almost 3 year timeframe after the Xbox/360 release here).

For instance in Oblivion, the draw distance of a good pc rig, is a good deal greater as well as much better FSAA and AF'ing.

In COD4 the texture quality is better on the pc and it runs in 720p at 60fps with better FSAA and AF'ing.(the 360 version runs at 60fps but only at 640p)

Having said this, i had my pc rig connected via HDMI to my Sony XBR960 HDTV(still the best picture quality under 40') and my 360 as well(HDMI) and while the pc version was better looking, it was not a huge difference.

2)The 360 version run at 25-30 fps on a regular basis and does dip to about 15fps(not sure on the 10fps, that's going a bit overboard).

The PS3 version does hit near 10fps and averages about 22-27fps as a constant.

However, to say it's not playable, is plain wrong. lol

I have both versions(120+ hours total), and both are very much playable.

3) I said on a good rig IV should be playable in 1080p(yes we all know it's 1920*1080p), so i'm not sure where you get i did'nt.

But it will never run at 1080p with high quality FSAA, this i doubt.

IV's engine is very taxing, so expect 1080p at 30fps and low quality FSAA and 720p(or resolutions slightly above this) at 45fps with very high FSAA and AF'ing.

This is a good graphics/performance increase over the 360, but nothing like say GTA:SA was going from the Xbox to a good pc rig in 05'.

4)The details in IV's engine is really something amazing, and for this engine to be easily modable, i'd really be shocked.

Rockstar needs to release a good SDK if you think we will see any respectable looking mods.

5)I'm sorry, if you think the mod community(which i was part of from 97'-03') can handle IV's engine, and deliver graphics/content..ect, the quality of the upcoming DLC's, you dreaming.

Don't go overboard, please.

(why must fanboys always go overboard?)

6)Iv'e played every major pc online game and many 360 games over Live.

Yes some pc users use voice, but finding a game with more using then not, is _still_ not easy to do so.

Live is supperior to pc online, and unless you play both, i won't even bother to compare. (yes i've played CS and TF2..actually CS since it was released, and Live is easier to jump into a clan game)

7) It's easy to connect my pc rig to my HDTV, but in terms of hooking it all up, to get the type of console experience on a big screen tv, it's alot more of a hassle to do so.

Iv'e been pc gaming since 88' and i love it, so i'm not biased, i just call it like i see it.

Please don't go overboard on the pc experience, it's very flawed, just like the console experience is.

One more thing, FPS are a no brainer advantage on the pc, because of the closer setup and mouse/keyboard setup, but for the more cinematic games like GTA:IV, these just fit on the consoles.

I have a decent pc rig hooked up HTPC wise(1080i, the max on my HDTV) and both an Elite360 and PS3, so i know all the differences on all platforms.

btw: Live is easier then the mess of the net. Here's an example.

I was part of a CS clan between 8 of us, and we all were using 3 different voice/mic programs, and it was a mess getting everyone on the same page.

Then a few have mic problems and had setup problems, in the _middle of a clan match_.

This is just one example of why i now put more hours of serious online gaming over Live and lesser over pc online.

Anyone who prefers the console version Of GTA4 probably can't afford a decent computer to play the PC version because this is honestly a no brainer...I would go with the PC version and i wouldn't even think about it...PC offers much better performance and visuals plus limitless mods...

I'm a major GTA fanatic, and when MS paid Rockstar $50 for it's exclusive DLC's, i knew that was the main platform i'd be playing IV on.

When i see just _one_ mod the quality of the first 360-DLC, then i'll put alot of time into the pc version.

I'll eventually grab IV on the pc, but like the PS3 version, i play through it, but not nearly as deeply as the 360 version.

And i have a good pc rig now, and i still prefer playing IV on the 360.

By the time IV is released on the pc, i'll be 100% done on both console versions. I put 120 hours into both(total) and i'm sure i'll be at 250-300+ when the pc version arrives.

And with the DLC to arrive soon after on the 360, i'll have a real hard time playing through IV for a 4th/5th time.

Also, i'm part of a great GTA:IV clan over Live, that cannot be matched on the pc.

Add in Fable 2(360), R:FOM2(ps3), GOW2(360), Fallout(not sure 360 or pc), Saints Row 2(360 or PS3)..ect, i need change of pace from some 6-7 months of GTA:IV.

Add in the DLC#1 is set to arrive sometime from Jan-March 09'.(360 only)

Pc version--> nice graphics and performance advantages, but it's just too little too late.
