Parkour Tips

It's pretty fun getting onto rooftops and seeing how far you can get. Unfortunately I've never made it further than one or two, so don't have any good spots, really. I'd imagine there's alot of good spots in Alderney and Dukes though, and likely also in North Holland.

In north Algonquin there's the most kickass spot. Interior stairs lead to the roof of a small building, from which you can jump across a couple of fire escapes and get onto the roof of a quite huge building via the fire escape, awesome for sniping. And if you're bored of that, you can pretty much access every building on the block (about 8 or 9) by jumping across the small gaps where the allies are below. I'm sure there are many like this, just go to north Algonquin where the buildings are dense and allies are scattered everywhere, i bet you can get to at least 6 or 7 building tops.

Now that you mention it... maybe someone should make a mod for this when gta comes out to pc, like a little bigger jump, you can dive, do a salto a flipover and so on

You can't do parkour in this game.

Your basicaly jumping from one building to another. Not really "Parkour"

Yeah it's not exactly stunts and acrobatics like the professionals, but it is the basics. If i could do the things that you can do on GTA, i'd certainly call myself a parkourist.

I used to love jumping around on saints. Even if it was to a small ledge or across a wall it was fun.

To me the jumping on GTA seems clumsy. Some walls you can even stand on without jumping straight over. The time after an animation before you can control yourself again is to long, it doesn't look smooth enough.

@ "SJT" and "Furnace".

Parkour is just the exercise of getting from point A to point B in as straught a line as possible.

Has nothing to do with being fancy and doing flips and sh*t.

Well for a start, going from point A to B in as straight as line as possible is bullsh*t. Thats not all parkour is about. Who says you must go straight?. And doing flips and "sh*t" as you say, is parkour. Aslong as you are overcoming the obsticle, why not? "Free Running" is more to do with looking good, like fliping, but is not to far from parkour, some say its the same. Now.....

If you want to take the time to read this. This about sums up "Parkour"

Basically, Parkour is a natural method to train the human body to be able to move forward quickly, making use of the environment that's around us at any given time. This 'art of displacement' requires neither specific structure nor accessory for its practice. The body is the only tool. It's an athletic discipline accessible to all, because it combines all the natural skills of the human body: running, jumping, climbing... It's a sport that permits exploration of the potential offered by your body. It's about being able to face the obstacles with which you are presented, whether they be in the natural environment or in the urban environment, in a search for movement that combines effectiveness and control. The necessary equipment is simply a T-shirt, a pair of light jogging-type trousers, and a pair of running shoes.

Running on foot, crawling, jumps, rolling and other methods of catching yourself, grabbing hold of things, hanging from things and balancing are the essence of what fuels this sport. All this towards a single goal: never to be stopped by any obstacle (whether it be wall, grille, hedge, railings, trees, other foliage, bushes, rocks, vehicles, gaps... etc), but to continually adapt. This way of moving has existed since the dawn of time, where early men had to learn to move skillfully to hunt, to attack and to defend themselves. Later, special groups such as the ninja and, later, commando soldiers were taught movements in order for them to carry out infiltration missions. Today, firefighters, soldiers, and special police intervention teams still learn how to move without being hindered by obstacles.

Thanks.

And I supose if you are overcoming the obsticle like walls etc in GTA, I guess you could call it parkour. In my first post I really ment that you can't really do much parkour, you are limited.

This term isn't used much in the States, where LC resides, but I have jumped and climbed as well as I could to any place looking to accomodate such activity. In fact, some ladder/fire escapes seem like you can use them but you cannot due to size or the "rake" (angle). Some of the tall industrial towers block Niko's climb and he'll hit his head and fall from the top, not good!!

You just have to be creative =) Next time you see a bunch of fire escapes in an ally, see which ones can be made accessible by moving skips or cars.

And yeah, I'd rather do this in real life than a game, but when you're running across the roof tops from some guy who is intent on kicking your ass, it's quite cool.

Plus, I live in England... can't do parkour in a field lol.gif

Lethal Nizzle

Um, on the construction site where you either kill/save Ivan is a good chain of buildings to run on. When you reach the top of the crane, jump down, roll and keep jumping over the gaps. Fun.

I hope R* reads this and adapts some kind of sumpin' in order to exploit this idea more. I never knew about this "Parkour" till now...AMAZING!. I used to skate a bit and am very impressed with this activity/sport/daredevil/ninja/exercise .The human is an amazing creature to be sure.
