Dementos
Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a new computer in the upcoming months. Any suggestions? I'm in search of something that has decent gfx capabilities, with in a price range of about $200/500 USD. I've been thinking about HP or perhaps Dell, but I'd like to get some input from you guys before I make any decisions. Thanks. crazymodder
My Suggestions you may get another mainboard instead of the 750A SLI. scroll down and see what Joe say. some of his suggestions are better than mine.
Dementos
Isn't that thread only for upgrading/building a computer? I'm only looking to get a brand (out of the box) PC.
Picolini
You won't get anything that has good graphics out of the box... unless you spend upwards of $1,500+. My brother however just got a Gateway with an Athlon X2 6000+ @ 3.0Ghz, 3GB RAM, 500GB HD for $400. It was refurbished from TigerDirect.com (at the local store here), but sh*t it looks to be in 100% brand new condition. Thing is, it's just the motherboard graphics, so no go on that. And, it's only got a 300W PSU (power supply unit), 100W short of the best budget card out now, which is the 9600GT. And a low PSU is the biggest problem with upgrading graphics on a brand name built PC, as well as physical size (eg, fitting the card in the actual case). You'd be able to get a 500W PSU for under $50 no problem, and a 9600GT will run you another $100 or so. So for ~$600 you could have a decently strong gaming PC. Going by your "$200/500" price range, $500 is your max. But, I'm sure you could find a similar PC for a similar price, then just upgrade it over time, first the PSU then the GPU (graphics card), of course. Dementos
Yeah, that's mainly what I was thinking about doing, Picolini.
