Ok...DMW,

 

You have some very solid points...and you know that we have agreed on this issue in other threads, but there is one point I cant figure...

 

I have a friend who got his PS3 from his friend but all he got was the console itself.  So he bought the PS2 adapter and uses his PS2 controllers.  He didn't like them and had to get Sixaxis because the PS2 controllers were "slow"'.

 

I know most ppl are using PS3 controllers...my point is how do the tools in which we play our games (or do our work for that matter) become cheating tools...because I have better equipment then you I am cheating? 

 

 

 

First, unlike most PS3 controllers, this controller allows you to maintain a level of speed and accuracy not attainable on other controllers.

 

Second, if I've read up on the thing correctly, this has some kind of "frag" button or whatever it's called. It's functionality not even *available* on a normal PS2 or PS3 controller, and it enhances your ability to control your accuracy even further.

 

This isn't just a "normal controller split in half". This has been specifically designed and includes functionality to artificially increase your speed and accuracy.

 

 

where do we draw the line?   ...if my internet connection is faster than yours and you lag, am I cheating?

 

Normally, this is a factor out of your control no matter which side of the issue you're on. Sometimes even the best and fastest connections go haywire, and sometimes decent broadband service isn't even available in your area.

 

I don't fault players for issues that are partially or entirely out of their control.

 

 

On the other hand...

 

Unless everyone has access ( and the $$) to purchase the controller, then I cant see getting it...I am possitive that I would be able to use it well, which means that, until more ppl know about or get the controller, I WOULD walk over everyone, hence no sport, hence dead game.

 

But some players like it that way. Not everybody wants a fair game, and some people aren't "having fun" unless the odds are heavily tipped in their favor -- which is why cheats/hacks, etc. exist in the first place. Some players will do whatever it takes to get an "edge", and others simply take glee in cheating like crazy and ruining everyone else's fun.

 

And right there, you admit it gives you an advantage that the other players wouldn't have. How do you not see that as cheating?

 

 

And if the controller was made available to everyone and everyone got it, that too would destroy the game because who wants every game to be nothing but one-shot kills...

 

Well, it would make body armor useless.

 

That being said, at least it would be a fair game again. Personally, I'd rather see the controller banned and level the playing field once again. But I'm realistic enough to know that's impossible.

 

I'd like to see how well players who use this controller can play with a regular sixaxis. I'd be willing to bet that the "one-shot-headshot everytime from ridiculous distances" games would become nonexistent.

2) IGN gave it a good review.

3) Saying it's cheating is like saying someone cheated in Gran Turismo because they were using a GForce Steering Wheel.

4) It is simply taking advantage of a superior controller.

5) It is a Licensed Peripheral.

6) The fact that the PS3 had the ability to use KB/M was one of the features people were excited about when we were first learning about the PS3.

7) Its all about your reaction time... not what controller you use.

8) Someone with a crap reaction time wud be crap with the fragfx.

 

tbh... anyone who wants to stick with the sixaxis is silly. Its a really bad controller that breaks. All the fragfx is is a controller built for killing like a steering wheel is built for driving in driving games.

If there is *ANY* difference in how well you play, you are cheating.

 

The basic question is this: "Does this controller enable me to play better than I was playing before?"

 

If the answer to that question is YES, then it's cheating. Plain and simple.

Absolutely right. I'll give you another example alx:

aimbots/other cheating/hacking tools are available all over the internet to every online multiplayer game exists...Aimbots only "help" you to aim at the other players heads,and loads of people use it anyway

Does that make it legal? No.

its a sixaxis controller split in two with a mouse as the right analogue stick.

 

I use keyboard and mouse for unreal tournament 3 sometimes in deathmatches and TDMs.

 

Its ONLY useful if you can use it well... tbh half the players in this forum cant, so its not cheating.

 

If we all had fragfx controllers then there wud be good and bad players like there are now with controllers.

 

Its not going outside the dimensions of the game... its not using any mechanisms that aren't already in the sixaxis controller. ALL it is... is the buttons and the sticks are in a different place, go figure. not cheating.

 

PS.

 

Theres no such thing as an aimbot... the servers have sufficient protection against users submitting their own hex codes.

 

lag switches exist tho.

Again, I'll ask the question:

 

Does it make your play better?

 

If the answer to that question is YES, then you are cheating by using it, since it is allowing you to play above your level of skill.

 

And the "Bad players can't use it" doesn't fly. The adjustment time is nearly nonexistent. Even bad players will get used to this thing very, very quickly.

 

It allows players (both good and bad) to get headshots with a level of speed and accuracy that most players (both good and bad) simply cannot get with a sixaxis controller. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that it can attain a level of speed and accuracy that is impossible to attain with a sixaxis, no matter how good you are.

 

The person quoted in the review stated that he "doubled" his accuracy as a result of using it. You yourself have admitted that your play would improve as a result of using it.

 

I don't care if it makes a bad player good, or a good player better, or both. If you're using a device to play better than your own skill would allow you to play, you're cheating. Justify it any way you want, but saying it's not cheating is like saying that the baseball players who take steroids aren't cheating because "they still have to hit the ball", or those who download music off the internet aren't stealing because "they wouldn't buy it anyway." It's a lame argument dishonest players use to justify being dishonest. And it never works.

First, cost has nothing to do at all with whether or not it's cheating. I don't care if the controller costs $10, $100, or $1000. Second, just about every place is currently sold out, and the only places they're currently available are selling them at more than double the MSRP. Example:

It has additional functionality that's not available on a standard controller, specifically put there to increase your accuracy.

GTA IV does not have keyboard/mouse support. Rockstar could have very easily added keyboard/mouse support in the game if they so chose to. This controller circumvents restrictions that Rockstar themselves put into place.

Wrong. I'm terrible with a standard controller. I'm not the best player in the world even with a kb/mouse, but I'm a hell of a lot more accurate than I am with a regular controller.

I bought the PS3 a couple of weeks after launch. I'm still using the exact same sixaxis controller I got with the console. And I'm a relatively avid gamer.

And DMW...I think we will have to agree to disagree. I just can't see it as cheating. By your standards the company I work for is cheating because they bought better tools than their competitors and therefore put out a better product. Technology is just a tool, just like a tennis racket is just a tool, just like a PS3 controller is a tool...and so on....

Yeah, I probably have played against these players. They're the ones who get ridiculous headshots that they know they'd never get if they weren't playing with a fragfx.

I think it must be something about THIS game...If it truly DOES make it possible for a good player, used to the configuration, to actually play a 20 min game and get nothing but one-shot kills the whole game...then it changes the game. And not neccessarily for hte better.
