hi all ive been playing in the gamebattles leagues for a while now and im kinda convinced that the top teams are using this http://uk.gear.ign.com/articles/799/799262p1.html, because they are so ridiculously good , i.e instant 1 shot head shots from stupid distances (no they are not sniping me i know the difference between assault rifle and sniper fire).

Anyway i was wondering if any of you kind folk in forum land own and use the fragfx when playing gta ? and does it give you an advantage

I don't own one, but I've read that link a few times before.

The frag button is what gives you the edge, it can slow down the aim reticule making it easier to focus on headshots. I also remember it mentioning something about making it easier to track moving targets.

yeah it is programable so in theory you can use it in any game like the guitar hero guitar its just an elaborate sixaxis

in gta it would be crap for driving etc but in dm/tdm thats completly different

Ive been told that some games deactivates the support for ps3 mouses, as well as other devices giving u advantages during the game.

with gta u cannot use the ps3 mouse and keyboard

BUT

search the fragfx in google images... that you can use as your ps3 recognizes it as a controller.

Heres what us at IoS have found:

The fragex controller, uses a one shot kill system, like playing on your PC, you point on them, click and they dead. This controller DOES work on GTAIV and games such as COD4, so be aware

which is why the top 10 teams on gamebattles are at the top.

SO DONT PLAY AGAINST THEM! or if you do...once your in lead, RUN AND HIDE!! tounge.gif.

heres the link for it, but i wouldnt use it if i was you, if you do, remember, your a fat noob with no brain colgate.gif

here's an extract

the left-stick-dongle has the extra "Frag" button not found on typical PS3 controllers. When depressed, the Frag button slows the mouse movement significantly, a feature we found especially useful in sniping situations. We operated on normal mode when surveying large fields for targets, and then, once acquiring one, we zoomed in close and then held the Frag button to slow the mouse speed so we could take careful aim. It's a rather useful feature and addresses the possible issue of the mouse movement being too sensitive for accurate sniping.

Ok, I'm completely lost.

How does the controller determine how many shots it takes to kill someone? Isn't that determined by what's programmed in the game? How can the controller essentially say "We know that it normally takes 2 shots to kill someone, but this controller will let you do it in ONE!"?

And if this is true, doesn't that essentially nullify the "The players who can continually kill you with a single shot are just really, really good players" argument? Because if this controller really does let you kill players with one shot when it would normally take two, then in reality, it's "The players who can continually kill you with a single shot are most likely using a controller that enables them to cheat."

Because that's exactly what they're doing, if this is the case.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I remember about 5-6 years ago, I was playing an FPS on my PC using the keyboard/mouse. My accuracy was absolutely amazing, and I was able to make it through the game with ease. Trying to play the exact same game with a regular controller was SIGNIFICANTLY more difficult. If I were to play GTA IV with this type of controller, I'd expect it to become significantly easier once I got used to the setup as well. But given the fact that most places are sold out and I have no intention of spending the $100+ that many of these places are asking for even when it's in stock, I will never know exactly how well this works.

No you completely misunderstood that statement. The controller simply allows you to be such a great shot. that a one shot one kill should always apply to you.

The controller offers no advantage except for the fact that you are using a mouse to control your weapon. It doesnt reduce the number of shots to kill someone, it reduces the number of shots you take to kill someone..

Then you should be a little more clear.

There's a big, big difference between "The controller uses a one-shot kill system" to "The controller allows you to be so accurate that you can hit the sweet spot every time".

That being said, I still view this as cheating, since all you're doing is making up for your lack of real skill by spending more money.

The trick to a good headshot is wait for them to come to you. If you rush towards them into auto-aim area, then you might aswell just be standing next to them. Crouch, aim, zoom in by pressing the right thumstick and shoot. If they're running or crabwalking, you gotta aim just ahead of where they are moving towards, but still at head height.

That really has nothing to do with this thread.

This thread is based on the device the OP was referring to. The discussion is about whether or not it gives you the ability to do things you would normally not be able to do (through lack of skill), and whether or not using the device is a form of cheating (which I believe it is.)

Simply put, the gadget seems to give unskilled (or even skilled) players the ability to accurately and reliably get one-shot kills that they'd never be able to get on their own. If that's the case, then to me, it's a form of cheating. Your opinions may vary.

  • 2 months later...

Say you get into a fist fight with a man who trained in the skill of fighting and just for the sake of argument this made him better than you at fighting...

He is cheating? just because he took advantage of something you too could have secured.

Dont view something as cheating just because you dont like the idea of it/dont want to pay for it

Give the peripheral a chance before you flame it. Play with one.. you will realize it too takes immense skill to use. Its not like picking up a ps2/3 controller and running with it.

It takes perfecting in itself to be used well.

I can assure you a noob to FPS games coming fresh into gaming cant pick up and own with it.

I can also assure you that a moderately good to awesome player fresh off a sixaxis wont pick this up and own right away.

Bullsh!t.

Training to fight can be done for free.

Getting into a 'controller arms race' will not create a level playing field (which is all most people want in a competitive gaming experience).

Hence why the damn things are banned in GB, and if you use it in competition while pretending you aren't, then you have no honour and your victories mean nothing.

However, using it to muck around with (ie freemode), or in a fragFX only competition, I have no problem with.

Cheating I have a problem with.
