Gouveia
I just read this topic and i saw so many Console fan fags crying about PC version ... Why are you doing this ? Did you bored playing without mod , under 25 fps , no AA GTA IV ? lol this is so immature w/e GTA IV PC will rock i just know it ... Stop being such a fanboy. Anyway, I don't think that there is such a thing like "best plataform for GTA". They all have their pros and cons. You don't have to buy hardware to run it on a console, but you can mod the PC version. There's lots of it, and it all depends on the person that will play the game. moragami
Jealous of the PC version don't make me f*cking laugh there's a reason why there's gaming consoles seriously pc is for internet not gaming of course rockstar north need to please you f*cking yanks even though you don't even deserve GTA. You are a complete wanker. Do you really think anybody gives a shyt what you think? GTA IV was built to be played by whoever Rockstar wants to play it, idiot. I guarantee you that Rockstar was planning to release it on PC all this time, and only waited to release it to boost console sales. I guess you'll have to find something else to feel superior about, you selfish, childish, stupid a$$hole. Meanwhile, we'll all enjoy playing it without all the stuttering inconsistent frame rates that you seem to be so proud of. Loser. NecroViolator
Necroviolator, yea i think a lot of people would like to see rockstar have built the pc version from the ground up, instead of doing a port, it would be nice if they put as much attention on the pc market as they do with consoles, but i dont think this is the case =[. After what happened with me and a lot of people who bought gta3 for pc when it came out put a damper on my opinion of rockstar, i think they make awesome games, but they seem to mainly be after the console market primarily, pc secondary. I was just suprised when i had a pc X amount of times faster than a ps2 and yet gta3 ran as if the hardware in my pc was sub ps2 standard... Im being pessimistic now, because with vc and sa, it was the same engine, so they ironed out most of the bugs. But this is the rage engine, which to my knowledge hasn't been thoroughly play tested on pc's, makes me a tad nervous to think we might have a repeat of 3. Yeh, At the moment Im watching Vids of GTA IV on YouTube and there is ALOT of strange bugs... Like a truck/firetruck and such laying on its side and you can still get in and drive... Instead of going forward, since your laying down, the truck starts to spin... Its extremely to watch people get hit by the spinning bus, but there is way to many mistakes in GTA IV... I hope the PC version has a better fate...

GTA_Godfather
It's complete cack to pretend that consoles are the cat's meow (best thing since sliced bread). But hey, it's good for a laugh when I hear fanboys make such baseless statements like "PCs are for the internet". Wrong, PCs are for EVERYTHING and yes, it is the best platform. You know that PCs were used to create the game right (and to design your toys and to do everything that you do with computers/the internet)? Why use anything but the best tool for the job? That's not to say we don't have our own issues, because we do. There was a time when you couldn't be sure you could even run a game after buying it in the store. We've come a long way since then and it's getting better. I'm actually amazed by the performance of PCs (even low-end ones) on demanding games like Crysis. They leave consoles in the dust in pretty much every area. I totally agree with shat_kat. We REALLY need a PC-centric GTA. No GTA have ever done anything but scratch the surface of what a PC is capable of. It could be so much more, even though it will still blow away consoles. The funniest part of all is to hear console players whine. They do it constantly. Yet, these same players come on here and say the dumbest things. VERY envious, indeed. I guess this is their juvenile way of dealing with their toys' inadequacies. My suggestion is for them to just come to grips with the facts that consoles will always be inferior. I got to hand it to Sony and MS, they play their cards very well. They feed this fanboy-ism and extract the most $$$ while offering the lowest quality product. They now take console gamers for granted and use them as pawns. How does it feel?
shat_kat
To be fair godfather, i still feel a bit anxious whenever i buy new hardware for my pc, im pretty skint at the minute but ive been saving my cash and just spent around £400 on a new mobo, ram, cpu and managed to get a relatively cheap hd4870. When a console is cheaper than that... but obviously cant be upgraded without getting a completely new unit. I suppose its all preference, i now have bills to pay somehow haha. Ideally, rockstar would have been working on a pc version alongside the xbox and ps3 version, optimized correctly and able to utilise SLI, XFIRE, multiple cores and be able to scale them properly, whilst running on lower end systems, as valve did at the release of hl2, i know everyone references valve, my confidence in them in dipping aswell, sorry! Sadly, i dont think that is the version we are going to get, i think we may just have a straight port on our hands, hopefully they realise that there pc audience isn't stupid. Anyhow, im not going to fit the new hardware and sell off the old gear, hopefully i wont short anything.
RedEnd
we cant argue about it since a KB + owns for shooting games pc is sure best to GTA
jedimario
You get what you pay for, PC > console. The only disadvantages I can think of are instal time and cost. Only an impatient child will have a problem waiting a few minutes before playing the game the first time, so that one doesn't even matter if you ask me. Cost is of course a big deal, but like I said, if you spend the money you're going to have a nice toy. I recently played GTA IV for a bit on my friend's PS3. All I could think was...seriously? This looks like crap! Upconverted picture, no AA, low FPS. Sure, it's shiny, but how can you like shiny when it comes wrapped in jagged barb-wire? You will (hopefully, if Rockstar does it right) be able to set the visuals low enough on PC to run at your monitor's natural resolution and maybe a little AA, and then you will have a good looking game no matter how high the shadows are set or whether or not your reflections are maxed out or whatever else you want to throw in there. airtonix
The muscle and tendons between your thumb and palm are inferior for fine-grained movements whilst being wrapped around a game pad...compared to the muscles and tendons joining your wrist to your forearm. This is how mouse aiming a gun in fps and third person shooters 'designed with mice in mind' are far better than a joypad/stick could ever be. xtract the most $$$ while offering the lowest quality product. They now take console gamers for granted and use them as pawns. How does it feel? Hehe, this is whole purpose of consoles. turn on, tune in drop out. One other thing, it's humour to see that some people think that XP will require more system spec than vista. Specially when we all know vista is a bug ridden piece of crap that still totes windows95 binaries in its backend. oh and if you can hack your xp distro to support 36bits..then you will be able to use upto 64gb of ram. This of course is not as easy to do as it is on linux. One last note to illustrate how consoles are designed for a limited no-brainer market : - Healing 25man Raids in 'world of warcraft' on a console..... with the limited amount of network hardware and control interface provided on consoles today. makes me lawl When i can : - plugin a neuro-canaula and not have to hold a control device, - have access to the deepest darkest regions of the operating system running my entertainment system - be allowed to repackage portions and re-distribute them for non-profit (mods) - have access to all the documentation for the source code that is the software on the system. Then i will say that consoles are better than personal computers. oh wait...linux. Edited August 19, 2008 by airtonix
moragami
Guilty of raging against the trolls. Anyway, one thing I am wondering is if GTA IV will be tray and play. For those of you who aren't aware, Games for Windows is supposed to be mandating that any games under the "GFW" label will be tray and play, in other words, you can start the game while the game is installing. I know that they had that feature in Halo2. I'm not sure if it's a Vista exclusive or not. Well, PC is the best. Auto aiming is for tards. Nuff said. greenthumb
keyboard + mouse will always be the best when it comes to gta. but in gta IV 360/ps3 has an advantage in driving, since the joypads have the triggers that lets you adjust your speed when driving and allows you to stop your car like a sane person ofc you can just get a 360 joypad, but besides when driving i like keyboard + mouse best. TonyResta
Also, the Earth is approximately round. Are you crazy? The Earth is FLAT and has been proved countless times. On the other hand, to the original poster, you say that it's the best platform for GTA, but still, the PC version keeps on releasing 6 months AFTER the console version, i think that pretty much sums up the fact that R* prefer a console release for GTA than PC, hell, LCS and VCS didn't even end up coming out for PC, but they did on console. texukijinrex
So how about disadvantages. Iam sure piracy would be one of them. To the companies, maybe. Hmm.. Trying hard to think of any disadvantages.. Oh yeah, you have to wait 10 or so minutes for it to install before you can play a game. Does that count? i ll buy it whether its pirated or not

travel65
"Big list of negatives" Lol please. Aiming on the consoles is terrible. Can't even headshot. How's that driving and shooting on the console going Playing GTA and having your character do exactly what you want when you want is sooo much better than having an automated aiming assistant point in random places. Consoles are only good for Platform games and Fighting games, except for some reason now most games are FPS lol. Wasn't GTA a PC game to begin with? Oh wait, most good modern console games started as PC games (Halo, COD, etc...). PC own FPS and 3rdPS, don't even get me going on strategy games or rpgs. Th3 ProphetMan
I wish they would get some modding tools out of the sleeve, like in Max Payne games, that they gave us all kinds of tools and great mods were done. however, being gta such a controversial game and i doubt that so i hope that just leave the back door open for us so people can figure the gamees files out If in the end we do get to mod it, that will certainly make it great on PC. Still i prefer it on PC to be able to use Keyb & Mouse when walking and gamepad the driving, like in SA
uzi 9mm
For me a disadvantage of using a PC (well my PC) is that it's on a smaller screen, but my TV is much bigger and in the middle of the room, plus the wireless PS3 controller is what I'm used to using. Anyone can say 'get a bigger PC screen' or a wireless PC controller but that's long. But naturallly the pc version is better.

CharmingCharlie
Wasn't GTA a PC game to begin with? Oh wait, most good modern console games started as PC games (Halo, COD, etc...). Halo wasn't started on the PC. Halo was originally being developed for the PC, I even remember reading previews about it in PCzone, they were talking about how gravel had it's own physics as it is kicked up by the vehicle wheels (none of that appeared in the Xbox version). That was until Microsoft got the good ole chequebook out and bought Bungie off and since then it became a Xbox exclusive with the PC getting the crumbs. Just another example of how plainly obvious it is that MS wants to kill off gaming on the PC and get us all using their shi..... erm xbox. Since then it has been heart warming to see PC gamers treating the Halo franchise with the respect it now deserves........ ie NONE.
