Not quite sure why you would be favourable about anyone telling you how to play the game. If you enjoy Ford cars and bought one would you appreciate Ford coming and telling you how you should have the seat, what position you should sit in the car and how you should drive the car ???? I know I wouldn't, I love the PC because I can tailor the control scheme to what is comfortable to me. I know what I like the best, Rockstar certainly hasn't got a clue how I like to play the game. well i want to see the game the way they whant me to. its like art. to me its like some one talking during a movie. later on i dont mind changing it with mods. Well I wasn't specifically talking about altering the game with mods. I was referring to "controlling" the game. If you have a console all you have is a joypad, that is it NO choice. If you have PC you have joypad, joystick, keyboard/mouse, trackball and hell a graphics pen and pad if you want. That was the point I was trying to make you get to decide how YOU want to play the game. So you can tailor the control scheme to what is comfortable and makes you enjoy the game the most rather than being forced to control the game by the console and game manufacturers. Trying hard to think of any disadvantages.. Oh yeah, you have to wait 10 or so minutes for it to install before you can play a game. Does that count? Companies are the one who is creating the games, When they say piracy. It is a cause of concern. If you have your company you will understand the pain. Uhm, the only thing you didn't consider is that, this GTA has in-built multiplayer and uses the GFWL logo... Guess it'll be a reason to buy it, instead of downloading it. If you have your company you will understand the pain. You do realise there are lots of companies these days that will release crappy games which don't sell (because they are crappy) and then go out and release a press release saying that piracy cost them $x million. Piracy can't fight back so it's very easy to blame your own incompetence on, especially publishers realise this and make use of it. Piracy is a problem, however it's been a problem ever since games moved from the arcade halls to our homes in the early 80's. It's with piracy there that the games industry grew to the enormous size it has today, it just doesn't make sense that something that has always been there suddenly is going to destroy it. Well, lately more and more countries are getting the broadband access to the internet and with that they get access to warez. For instance, adsl in my country only five years back was a luxury. I had these fears from watching the trailers, perhaps I was being naive but I thought the PS3 would run the game more smoothly than SA. Tis not the case so my GTA playing days are on hiatus till nov - il be able to buy a monster rig by then too. So I begrudgingly admit....f uck consoles. Throw off those oppressive console kiddie shackles SCLASS you know you want too . Nauturally I jest but this has always been the reason why many of us prefer PC gaming. This has always been the reason why we resisted and complained and bitched that there was no PC version. I don't want to get all superior and that, the consoles do have a role to play. If you can accept the limitations that come with them then they provide a cost effective means of playing games. However if you WANT the best, if you want 2560 x 1600 @ 60fps and 12xAA then you are only EVER going to find that on the PC and expect to pay for it. Naturally things are not perfect on the PC, you will come up against games that have sh*tty framerates. But this is the beautiful part of it, YOU CAN DO something about it , there will be mods and config files that will make it run smoother (like Crysis) and if push comes to shove a cheapish upgrade to your Graphics card will make all the difference. They should stick to the casual stuff and maybe sports/racing (Think Wii). This is their niche (just look how well the Wii does here...beats the 360 easily and dwarfs the PS3). They (360 and PS3) are out of their league with games like this and they never measure up. You'd never know it if you just listened to their marketing/hype. Leave the serious stuff to the PC. Ahh, SCLASS....YOU KNOW TOO MUCH! You must have taken the "red pill". Unlike you, many console gamers live in fantasy land and gladly gorge upon the crap Sony and MS feeds them. If they only realized what little they are getting for those larger game price tags (usually $10-15 more expensive). It honestly boggles my mind to pass on choice/freedom/options AND performance/quality AND lower prices for gaming that can't hold the PC's jockstrap (bet you didn't know the PC had one). SCLASS Posted August 12, 2008 Share Posted August 12, 2008 (edited) The one throwback i cant see myself changing is using a gamepad for driving - actually, a wheel might not be out of the question, of course, WASD + mouse owns for first person sections. Another gripe I hope is resolved is the poor ( very ) um persistance ?, of bullet holes in walls, not the amount of time their there ( obviously RAM limited ) but the distance at which I can fire at a car/building and have rounds show on the texture - basically , wheres my frickin bullet holes ?. Shoot a car , say 100 yards away with the M16, sure the windows will have blown out, but when you walk up said vehicle you'll find the bodywork sans holes, same as buildings. Closer shooting doesnt show up this issue - perhaps a minor issue - not for me though. Ragdoll physics are great, I dont however like the 1/10 maybe 2/10 of a second judder while the CPU works out just how that ped will fly/fall/scream etc....And for GODS SAKE somebody agree with me on this - has ANYONE noticed the inconsistency in your top speed while driving - it is area dependant , think back to SA - countryside topspeed and LV topspeed - vastly different. On bridges I challenge anyone to instigate the ' blur ' effect - sure, sometimes it will happen, mostly though ( its almost a reversal in the polycount vs speed correlation you would expect ) you just cannot get the friggin car to hit top speed. Oddly, this isnt a issue in Algonquin, but when that effect is started , can anyone control the car ?, the texture-cheat-I-hope-you-dont-notice-this-console-cant-handle-this-high-speed-sh*t-blur-o-thon is just not gonna fly with me. Please change this R* - I loved the PCJ in VC, fantastic, no blur - great speed, bloody controllable compared to LC bikes... Im gonna go all out on the rig, I know a guy who can supposedly get cheap ( or at least discounted) 9900's - ( think thats the one ) and other parts. I dont trust my noobness in putting the thing together, but il get someone too. Screen - 32s to big, got my telly on my desk - just too large considering im 2 ft away.....I aint gonna bother with too much FSAA / AA, maybe 2 or 4* - maybe I have bad memories of MSFS games - but then I dont even think the 'singularity' era comps will handle that game As for the 'elitist' nature of PC gamers, I used to complain about it myself - probably told some of you to be more accepting of the supposed 'closing gap' between PC and console tech, well iv been duped. Why has no console game blown me away yet ?....il keep the PS3 somewhere for 2019 when GT5 comes out - otherwise, I aint gaming till then, online poker has me hooked.... We will be able too mod. 3. Better framerates do too better technology that's not 2or3 years old. 4. We have a choice on how too set up our graphics too our liking. 5.
