imheretostay
Thanks for summarizing all the positives about PC gaming, that goes for all games in general. (and is countered by a big list of negatives)

RedFox_1992
mods? that could be a problem with its inbuilt multiplayer since they could clash and conflict with it anyways the new RAGE engine might be pretty hard to decode for 3d modeling apps but you never know. I cant wait for it to come out to PC in november might as well get it for christmas
Deuce Deuce
Of course it goes without saying all of those points you listed automatically come as advantages in ALL PC games. Not only that, but there's more you're able to do using different software, FRAPS for one.

Deuce Deuce
So how about disadvantages. Iam sure piracy would be one of them. To the companies, maybe. Hmm.. Trying hard to think of any disadvantages.. Oh yeah, you have to wait 10 or so minutes for it to install before you can play a game. Does that count? I remember waiting for 2hrs installation not sure if it was a software or a game. 10 mins there is lots to do. Like wash the dishes, clean the house, water the gardens, watch tv, talk to your families, sit in the toilet and lots more.

Now I am not sure if that is a disadvantage to the PC or an advantage. The fact you have to install games seems to me to be a advantage since the console's are now copying the idea
SkapeGote
Sup, Disadvantages are very opinionated. Like the argument people give that controllers are better than KB + Mouse. Alot of opinion is preference. GFWL may be a disadvantage, being it so far has only being really popular for the xbox guys. The fact it is a port, and not an exclusive developement could mean a bad quality, out the door for more money game. The fact alot of people seem to know the game from the console game is a disadvantage. Could affect the amount of people in multiplayer games. There are alot of things that could be a problem. Myself, I am not worried. I think it will be acceptable. Then again I am also the guys, from a sales stand point, thinks the delay was a smart move for R*. Girish
I'm not sure about the graphics, fps and such since I don't own a console, but when playing a sandbox game like GTA, I have always felt better to have a keyboard and a mouse. It's just so much easier with the manual aim, not to mention the ability to reassign keys as per your style of play. FPS and racing games might be easier to play with a joystick, but the keyboard-mouse combo cannot be beaten when it comes to GTA.

GTA_Godfather
There are virtually no disadvantages as far as I'm concerned, with lone exception being being additional memory usage (for having to run on a bulky operating system - Vista 64-bit for me). That too really is a non-issue though, as I have 8GB of ram (cheap and plentiful). Every other facet of the platform is superior. If there is something you don't like about something, 99.9% of the time you can change it, in stark contrast with consoles. That's a big reason for the beauty of the platform. Console gamers can go back to whining about how they can't do this or can't do that. If you're expecting Sony and MS to bring out a console with anywhere near the flexibility, you'll have a long wait (hell freezes over?). There are too many financial advantages for them to lock up features (mods are just one example) and we all know console gaming is all about the money, not quality. ThunderKnight
That is why all the companies release their games for consoles so they know they are fools who are willing to spend money on consoles.
blitsie
well, one advantage the pc has over the console versions of gta is modding,I guess. but half every pc version of gta had it,so nah. but still, there ought to be a few good mods coming out for this (like mods that gives you airplanes...) or RPG mods for those that complained about the lack of *add useless feature here* in the game but that sounds a little far fetched, but still,if someone can make a good kung fu mod for max payne and multi-player for older gtas, then it might be possible

But, like most things in life, you get what you pay for. PC gaming owns, no doubt about it.

PC gaming owns, no doubt about it. You can say the same for consoles too. A PS3 or a XBOX 360 isn't going to run new games forever. NeXt Gen games would require better consoles the same way we have to keep on upgrading our PCs. And in any case, I have felt upgrading PCs to be more cost-saving than buying a new console everytime a NeXt Gen game pops up.

Umm, look, I am a PC gamer only, but the cost is still way more for PC even when factoring in buying a new console when it is released. The cost of upgrading is a lot more then buying a console, especially if you want to run games well with the visuals turned up.

I'm not sure about the cost of consoles where you live, but for me it's something like this: A 60GB PS3 would cost around Rs.34,000 whereas upgrading my PC with a quad core processor, 4GB RAM, a good 512MB graphic card and 400GB HDD would cost me somewhere around Rs.28,000. For me, PC has always been cheaper.
CharmingCharlie
To me this thread :- http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=366336 shows why the PC is the best platform. It is a healthy debate about how people are intending to play the game. Some of the combinations that people use may seem bizarre. But that is the beauty of the PC you can do that, to me it will always be about :- PC = YOU play the game how YOU want to play it Consoles = You play the game how THEY want you to play it. If that means the PC costs a little bit more (not sold on that either) then it is definately worth it to have a gaming platform you can tailor to your own specific needs. M_and_M
price of a game counts. etc. where I am blu ray (blank) costs about $20 and a blank DVD less then $1 so price of the game should be $20 less then ps3 version (it costs $110 in a state that is west of Niko Belic's home land...) Not quite sure why you would be favourable about anyone telling you how to play the game. If you enjoy Ford cars and bought one would you appreciate Ford coming and telling you how you should have the seat, what position you should sit in the car and how you should drive the car ???? I know I wouldn't, I love the PC because I can tailor the control scheme to what is comfortable to me. I know what I like the best, Rockstar certainly hasn't got a clue how I like to play the game.
