Witnesses at the scene early Sunday morning said the explosions were occurring every few seconds and shook buildings in the area, waking residents from their sleep. Clouds of black smoke can been seen billowing hundreds of metres into the air. Scores of police and emergency vehicles are on the scene trying to keep people out of the danger zone. There has been no word of any injuries http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/2008/08...6403406-cp.html Tons of pics: http://flickr.com/search/?s=rec&w=all&q=to...xplosion&m=tags Holy sh*t holy sh*t holy sh*t! Robinski
Wow, must be a pretty bad position to be in Toronto at the time (is it still going on?). I can imagine how terrifying it mustve been to wake up to that, it'd be like waking up in a warzone. Hope nobody's died, but it'd be hard to imagine that nobody was at least injured in a catastrophe that large. Seeing it happen from a distance would be quite an experience i bet: terrifying, exciting and awe-inspiring all at the same time.

manofpeace
A massive six-alarm fire has enveloped Toronto’s northwest after multiple explosions were reported this morning. Several explosions rocked a propane depot in the Wilson Ave. and Keele St. area, shortly before 4 a.m. Toronto Fire Capt. Adrian Ratushniak could not confirm reports that a propane yard was on fire. He did say there was a “substantial call” in the area, and there have been reports of injuries. “We are…continuing with a large-scale evacuation of the area,” said Ratushniak, including nearby Murray Rd. Staff Sgt. Gerry Cashman of 31 Division said that police, fire, and EMS units are on the scene. The TTC has provided buses to the area to take residents to the Yorkdale shopping centre. It is unclear how many people have been removed from their homes, some of which were reported to be severely damaged. Although he could not confirm what was on fire, Ratushniak said the explosions were indicative of a propane fire. “If it was multiple explosions, I think maybe it’s like a gas station or propane cylinders.” Eugene Koutcher, who lives about a kilometre south of the area, said the explosions woke him up to “a huge orange fire” early today. “I was just asleep and it was a huge explosion and I thought it was thunderstorm,” he said. “It was absolutely a huge explosion, actually a number of explosions.” The matter continues to be investigated. There are several road closures in the surrounding area. http://www.thestar.com/News/GTA/article/475696 The story's finally becoming a little clearer, rather than a bunch of random Youtube videos. Torcidas
Holy motherf*cking donkey balls. It's soooo lucky that today isn't a working day otherwise there would be complete and total chaos. My dad works in the area as a contractor and he's going to have to cancel his day today. They've even evacuated Yorkdale Mall. Some insane sh*t. Kenster1025
Since I live in Toronto, no one has officially died, everyone has be evacuated in a 1.6 km radius, and one hasn't be accounted for, but a firefighter around 2:30 PM EST, is being taken to hospital without vital signs.
