I think thats true because when your in any GTA 3 era game, the gangs stand out to a point where you automatically know that they will shoot you if you mess with them. But in GTA 4, its realistic because these moderen gangs dont wear all the same clothes like in vice city or san andraes or 3, they blend in and also they arent walking up and down the steet with a shotgun which would make them look very suspicious. Just another reason why GTA 4, is one of the most realistic GTA games today i agree, this way it's much more realistic. on the other hand, the 'obvious gangs' made you having more respect instantly, since they were standing around like guards, like saying 'here, WE are the law'.. and i really liked that..
