So GTA 4 will be my first GFWL game if it makes online simple to use without restricting the options for other people I can't see me having a problem with it. You will need SP1 for Vista and at least SP2 for XP. there definitely will be a lot, so called, cracked-independent-dedicated-servers, I know this because Ill definitely will be setting this on my machine, screw Live. they should call it Dead, since they re killing online gaming with that crap. Your stuck with Live anyway and Microsoft won't be hosting the servers they will be expecting us to do that. Microsoft will host the master server like Steam and we will host the actual gaming servers.The only reason to use a cracked server is if you pirate it. CharmingCharlie Posted August 9, 2008 Share Posted August 9, 2008 To play GTA 4 online with GFWL all you will need is a legitimate copy of GTA 4, a pc capable of running GTA 4 with windows XP installed. The games for windows live is NOT restricted to just Vista users, people running XP can use GFWL too. I understand people's concerns that GTA 4 may be Vista only and some of you are thinking GFWL is Vista only. But it isn't GFWL can be accessed and used by XP users too. Not anymore you don't. Games For Windows Live is NOW completely free, whether you want to play against other PC gamers or with console gamers if the feature is supported. LOL you are going to make me fight through every objection aren't ya I believe MS now allows PC gamers to send a RROD signal from their PC's to the 360's . I don't think it will be much of an issue I cannot see the PC version of GTA 4 having cross play. The best reason why it won't is this, MS now allows Xbox live users free online multiplayer for games that use CROSSPLAY, so if they make GTA 4 crossplay that means they will have to give all XBL users free online when playing GTA 4 and MS are way way too tight for that. So I think it is a dead issue myself, there will be no crossplay with GTA 4, it will just be PC V PC. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Smiler-Online Posted August 10, 2008 Share Posted August 10, 2008 If any BIG games like GTAIV are cross platform, then that would encourage the console gamers to move on to the PC, beccause they'll find out about the free gold service, and when they find out how good PC gaming is, they'll tell all of their PS3 mates and that will help MS get back in the lead of the Gaming platform, which would be a great way to help boost sales of Windows 7!
