-slash
Haha cheers guys. Yeah dunno about the mismatched thing, I feel like a bit of a wank because a lot of kids around here seem to do it on their Silvias for "drift cred." I just sorta did it because I wanted to spend money on my engine first, and didn't have the cash for a full set of decent rims in the kind of sizes and offsets I'd like. Hope to get a set of some nice and wide tough jap wheels around Christmas.
norniron
Hey read the whole topic, love that car looks sweet. Any updates? what about that drift date you have, Have you done it or is it later in the month?
-slash
Yeah went to the drift practise day, was a crap day weather wise and despite the large amount of entrants there was only really 5 or so people spectating, and none of them have posted any pictures anywhere. Only footage I've seen was some youtube videos of poor quality which I only appeared in once, when I speared off the track. Still trying to get my set up right, suffered from a bit of understeer. New castor rods, and rear toe and camber arms to go in before the next date. Was a really fun day though, recommend it to anyone who's ever thought of doing it. All you need is a lightweight danga with a bit of go, cut springs and a weldy to get you started. some bloke was going for it in a AE71 Corolla wagon. Anyway biggest recent update is my new wheels. Tada.

AZAZEL
The new wheels look awesome. Very nice. If I ever should stumble across an RWD car, I'd most certainly like to look into drifting. Only problem is that there's just not really anywhere to do it in this part of the country (Denmark). We only have a handful suitable tracks. I'm sure I could find a parking lot or the like, where I could get the basics down, and there are drifting clubs here, but there's very few people who're into it. lurchseesu420
Nice. Where's the video? I wanna see the (very short) clip of this thing in action. But it's really looking good now.

Gives you an idea of my local track anyway. I can't remember which one I spear off the track in, but you should be able to spot it, was fairly lolworthy. -slash
Latest Update: Car is about to go in for paint. Just sold my Leopard and bought a ST141 Corona. It's sick lol. Engine just has a Weber carby, front end has hilux 4 pot brakes, peugeot 266mm rotors, S14 bendix ultimate pads, AJPS 8kg springs and XT130 struts. Rear has a borg warner welded diff and disc rear brakes. handbrake locks like a champion, real wet weather warrior haha. For the Silvia, it's just about to go in for paint, and I just bought a new turbo kit for it. It's a Trust/Greddy TD06 L2 20G. These turbos are good for around 280rwkw on an SR20DET, so should be a lot of fun to play with. For now I'll be running it with an Apexi Power FC (purchased) and just need to pick up some HKS step 1 cams, valve springs, rocker arm stoppers, 740cc injectors (probably nismo) and a Z32 air flow meter. As it's stock in the bottom end will aim for 240rwkw on 18psi. In the meantime I'll slowly be purchasing everything I need for a new bottom end, pistons, rods, bearing and seal kit. Undecided on brands yet. Probably Eagle rods and CP or Arias pistons, Tomei for gaskets and bearings I reckon. Then once I've got everything I need I'll wind in more boost and tune accordingly then give it a flogging at a few track days and see how long she lasts. -slash
Well it's been a while since I updated. Never got my turbo kit because the guy turned out to be a dodgy bastard, luckily I got my money back thanks to the help of my bank. Anyway, the dollar went up sh*t creek so anything out of Japan was pretty much gonna cost me a heap so I did some exterior mods instead. Another couple of additions were a Bride seat and a heap of adjustable arms for underneath the car. The rear received ISC Toe and Camber arms and a Whiteline adjustable 22mm swaybar. The front got ISC Castor bars and a 27mm Adjustable swaybar. Completely changed the way the car drives, it's like it's on rails now, and the seat is incredibly snug and comfortable. Keeps me in place at the track. Should finally have pics of it in action when I drive this weekend at Round 3 of the Tas Drift series. Every practise day I've been too had no one taking pictures, but the rounds have professionals taking snaps. XD

Cran.
Looks like the Corona has the classic smack in the plastic bumper Silva looks tough now though, like a Japanese Trams Am. Never seen a front end like that, where does it come from? Those headlights work well?
-slash
Front end is a Silvia bonnet on a 180SX front bar and guards. With custom headlights I made. Brighter than the stock ones.
-slash
Finally have a bit of footage. Most of the pros haven't uploaded their stuff yet, but here's what I have so far from Saturday. Video is a sh*tass one of me f*cking up my second qualifying run. Started to rain after two hours of practising in the dry. First one was pretty good though. In a field of 35 I ended up qualifying 17th, just missing out on the top 16.

My mate just picked up a full set in 9.5x18" for his R34 GTST, and they only set him back about £900 with tyres.

swolo yaggins
Okay they arent that expensive but £900 isnt exactly pocket money. I would say pocket money compared to the $1200 for EACH rim on my old Lincoln. 5192:12.3.02LM/SSHmkl

Your friend got a good deal. I would say pocket money compared to the $1200 for EACH rim on my old Lincoln. Ehh, I don't know why you would put that kind of money into chrome rims. Just seems useless to me.

Owning and running a car isnt easy in the UK, especially if your a 17 year old male. I paid £600 for my car and £1800 for insurance. I only earn £320 a month since im only at college. I assume you drive a 1.6 Golf. Why is it insuring a 1.4 costs half as much as insuring a 1.6? I've noticed this as a general pattern (e.g. Mini Cooper, Golf, C2 VTR): 1.6 or above must be an 'adults only' car. Saying that, the 200cc seems to make the difference especially on motorways when you see all the teen hatchbacks are struggling while the Astras and Civics seem to cope fine. chris
Thats quite true, i drove from Liverpool to coventry and my car didnt seem like it was out of place on the motorway, when i got to coventry i followed a car full of lads i knew to a party with a few others in my car and when we got on the dual carraigeways it left his punto for dead, was quite a shock really cause my car has fairly high mileage. My golf has 147k and his punto only had 30k.

My car peforms quite well when I'm on my own, but even if I have just one passenger...I mash the accelerator and nothing happens. I also tend to shift into higher gears to save petrol, but it's not even an option when you have people with you. Chug chug chug. /threadjack
