GTA: Carcer City - PLEASE I NEED FEEDBACK!

Recommended Posts

08LasVenturas

This is a MUST read, i've worked hard on this and want feedback!

I would want It would take place in the near future (Say 2015) so that it would be a new approach yet realistic. For the first time, there will be snow in GTA.

Location:

Carcer will be somewhat based off of the “Manhunt” rendition, but with a different design and by 2015, there would be a city-wide Urban Renewal Effort, significantly cleaning up crime since Manhunt. The city would also try to lose its reputation as a slum. It will be based mainly on Detroit, Michigan; Indianapolis, Indiana; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Atlantic City, New Jersey. It will be located just south of Liberty City, and connected to Alderney. Carcer is known as "The Crime capital of the world" or the "Birthplace of Trash Talk Shows" (As many trash talk shows are filmed in Philly, Detroit & other nearby cities).

The first district: “Irondequoit” (Based on Detroit, Michigan)

This area includes the “Carcer City International Airport”, and Downtown Irondequoit includes many auto manufacturers, such as Schyster and Albany. Adjecant to Irondequoit is the independent state of “Cardigan” (Based mostly on Windsor, Ontario, Canada). Cardigan features the “Deck Falls” (Parody of Niagra Falls), which flows into the “Deck Falls River”. The “Deck Falls Bridge”, is initially inaccessible due to the middle deck collapsing (hence the name Deck Falls). The collapse is based on the 2007 Minnesota bridge collapse. It is eventually repaired. It resembles the Ambassador Bridge.

The Deck Falls Bridge connects to “Poinciannapolis” (Based on Indianapolis, Indiana). The “Carcer Zoo”, which was abandoned in Manhunt, is now open and cleaned up as part of the Urban Renewal. The zoo is based on the White River State Park. It also contains “Tyson University” (Based on Purdue University) and Statue Square (Based on Monument Circle). Although Downtown Poinciannapolis is fairly safe, the adjecant suburb of “Harry” (Based on Gary, Indiana) isn’t. Poinciannapolis is the largest district and includes lots of countryside similar to in Los Santos. Closer to the downtown, though, many farms include new suburban housing subdivisions. Nearby is "Dryver" (Parody of Raceway, Indiana) features the "Redneck 500" (Parody of Indy 500), a "NastyCar" (Nascar) race.

The “Noware River”, pronounced either “No Air” or “Nowhere”, contains 2 crossings, the “Flagger Skyway” (Betsy Ross Bridge), which is inaccessible due to the ramps being incomplete (like its real-life counterpart) and the “Mullet Bridge” (Ben Franklin Bridge) is initially closed due to refurbishing (The Ben Franklin Bridge was recently refurbished). The bridges lead into the 3rd district:

“Filibuster” (based on Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) contains the “Darkwoods Penitentiary”, which was featured in Manhunt and carries over the “Smilies Gang”, but is modeled after the Eastern State Penitentiary. Filibuster also contains the S. H. I. T. Building (based on the P.S.F.S. building), the “Craplast Tower” (Based on the Comcast Tower), the “Dusty Steps”, which features a gold statue of an old man in an adult diaper and boxing gloves bending down to pick up his dentures (Based on the Rocky Steps). Filibuster, like Poinciannapolis, has a relatively-low crime rate, although adjecant “Caden” (Based on Camden, New Jersey) is a slum. Nearby is “Teville” (Based on Levittown, Pennsylvania), and “Binghampton” (Based on Cherry Hill, New Jersey), which contains the “Binghampton Mall” (Based on the Cherry Hill Mall), large, suburban office parks, and “Musty Pines” (Which was mentioned on a radio commercial in GTA3 as a nursing home) is a large, stereotypical 80’s subdivision with a country club. A series of bridges and a drawbridge, whose lift is initially stuck open, leads to:

“Golden City” (Based on Atlantic City, New Jersey) is referred to as “The Las Venturas for chain-smoking grandmas from Filibuster”.

It contains the casinos “Sangara” (Borgata), “The High Roller East”, mentioned in GTA:SA (based on Bally’s Atlantic City), “Caligua’s Golden City”, also mentioned in GTA:SA (Based on Casears Atlantic City), “The Popacapa”, pronounced “Pop a cap-a” (Tropicana), “Hootah’s” (Harrah’s), and “The Monk’s Temple” (Trump Taj Mahal). "Red Feather" will be an indian reservation casino run by the "Red Feather" Native-American mob (I'll get to that later), although the design is based on the Trump Marina. Downtown Golden City also has “The Esplande” (The Walk Outlets), and the boardwalk, which contains the “Hard Wood Pier”, with working rides that the player can ride on (based on The Steel Pier), and the ‘Caligua’s Shopping Adventure” (Pier Shops at Caesars). Nearby are the beach communities of “Veltzer” (Ventnor), “Barcake” (Margate), “Longcock” (Longport), and “Biggenhornie” (Brigantine). A small bridge connects to "Guernsey Island" (Mentioned in GTA4 but never seen), which contains two small downtown waterfront communities of "Maralago" (Based on Manahawkin, NJ) and "Ackertown" (Based on Tuckerton, NJ) and also the lagoon-front community of "Eastpiritual" (A cross between Mystic Island and Beach Haven West, NJ).

On the north end of Guernsey Island is the “Samaritan River” (Based on the Raritan River in Central New Jersey) and has 3 crossings: The “Governor’s Causeway” (Driscoll Bridge), “Watt Bridge” (Edison Bridge), and the “Winners Bridge” (Victory Bridge). These bridges are side-by-side and altogether called “The Samaritan Bridges”. Only the Watt Bridge is accessible, as the other 2 are under construction. They connect to Alderney.

Alderney, in 2015, isn’t much different, aside from a new interchange on the Plumbers Skyway connecting to the Watt Bridge, new buildings being built, the old casino being torn down, and many businesses in the Acter Industrial Park have been replaced with luxury hi-rise condos. Alderney is accessible at the same time as Golden City, as the latter is dwarfed by the other islands. The hate towards Alderney from Liberty City grew so intense that Liberty City cut off all connections to Alderney (Algonquin, Broker, Bohan & Dukes are inaccessible, but can be seen from Alderney) and Alderney Is now considered part of Carcer.

Storyline:

The story follows a young man who just returned from the Iraq War and came back to Carcer to support his paranoid mother, who has a thick Jewish Accent. She owns a Kosher deli below her apartment. She engages in long conversations with others and never provides a break in the conversation. She constantly brags about her health problems and freaks out to almost everything thinking that she will suffer a stroke. Since she is getting old, she wants her son (the main character) to help expand her business. Mafia won’t play a big part in the game & I haven’t figured out much of a storyline yet.

Gameplay:

The character can once again build muscle & get fat and can get haircuts, tattoos & there are more clothing stores. The main character buys his own safehouses & can own a maximum of 20 safehouses (There are hundreds of avaliable homes for sale in the game). (A real estate agency, “Realty 2.0” (Based on Century 21, the name is a parody of Web 2.0) where you can call a realtor to show you a house (could be either a high rise apartment or a suburban home). You could also sell them for money. Several furniture stores and websites sell furniture for your safehouse, which you could decorate in a “Sims 2”-type interface. "KRAPPEA", which was mentioned in GTA4 (Spoof of IKEA) could be one. There should also be a lot more clothing stores.

The player can also buy alcohol at stores and cigarettes (which significantly decrease the player’s health).

The player can set places on fire, although the fire dept. quickly responds. If the player kills off too many firemen, the building can burn to the ground. If the building is important to the plot, however, it will not burn down, as overwhelming amounts of firefighters will put it out. If a building is destroyed, eventually, over time, it will get rebuilt.

The cop system should be made more challenging yet fun, like in Need for Speed: Most Wanted, where cops set up roadblocks, rolling roadblocks, and spike strips.

The “empire sites” are reintroduced from GTA:VCS, but you can purchase any Retail space (on a stand-alone site, strip mall, inside of a mall, on a skyscraper storefront, etc.) to expand your mom’s deli into a chain restaurant.

Transportation:

Buses will be available for transport, and bikes will be re-introduced. Planed can be flown, either from the Carcer City International Airport, or a small executive airport. There will be various midel years for cars (Such as the ’99-02 Landstalker, from GTA3 and maybe the ’03-08 Landstalker, from GTA4). Also, turn signals in cars will be available for the player to use. Pressing a button on the controller will access the car’s dashboard. On the dashboard (which will be unique to each car), you can use the GPS (if equipped, it will also be useable in the start menu if it doesn’t have a GPS), you can control the radio station & volume, etc. The player will also have to press a button to fasten the seatbelt (a visual and audio warning will be provided when the player gets into the car), the seat belt will prevent the player from flying out the windshield when in a crash, and automatically unbuckles when he gets out of the car. Players can also use turn signals in cars.

Once again, players can customize cars.

Cars will also run out of gas, players can fill up at gas stations. When you steal a car at a gas pump, it will usually be full. When gas is low, a "gas pump" logo will flash. Eventually, when out of gas, the car will break down.

New car examples:

*"B-Box" - Scion Xb

*"Ultimatum" - Nissan Altima

*"Argon" - Honda Pilot

*"Chemi" - Honda Element

*"Chiefton" - Jeep Grand Cherokee

*"Luby" - Cheby Malibu

Relationships:

The player can get married to women or men, and they can move in with him. If the player is invited to hang out, but he is too far, they would understand and not get mad. (I hated when they would get mad if I was in Alderney and they were in Broker & had to get there in 1 hour) The player can also make conversations with people in the street and become friends with them.

Radio, TV & Internet

On the internet, the player can view & schedule real estate listings, buy clothes, car & home furnishings. They can also set up a "Myroomonline" account (currently-existing parody of MySpace) and upload photos, blogs, and edit his profile & talk to friends. He can save pics on his phone & send them to Myroomonline.

Speaking of phones, he can shop for a phone at several phone stores. He can also buy a phone with an MP3 player & download in-game music onto his phone to listen to outside of his car (even include music from past GTA games).

On TV, there should be more channels:

Weazel & CNT will reappear, along with these:

"The Trashcan": A trash TV talk show channel

* "Heartland Values with Nurse Bob" (Featured in GTA:LCS). Spoof of Dr Phil, but the current topics & guests are reminiscent of Maury & jerry Springer. Although the one featured in GTA:LCS was tamer, by 2015, the show will have grown raunchier (Jerry Springer was serious when it first came out). Topics on Nurse Bob are: "Who da Baby Mama" (Paternity tests), "Cheatin' Chubbies" (Love triangles), and "Fears" (Although less trashy, it pokes fun of peoplw with fears of stuff like Gays, Asians, and talk show host Lazlow Jones.)

* "Heavyset Sights", (parody of The View). Features a group of overweight women gossping about celebrities, websites, and politics. Each discussion always ends up in a fight involving binge eating.

* "Chatterbox" (Featured in GTA3 & LCS as a radio show). Now a talkshow with Lazlow Jones interviewing various celebrities, usually with an odd outcome. Viewers can call in to the show.

"HWE - Housewive entertainment" (Spoof of Lifetime & other soap opera networks)

* "The Suburbs" (Featured in a commercial on GTA4) - Spoof of Desperate Housewives

* "Pathogenic Waste Department" - Spoof of "General Hospital"

* "Yellow Stoplight" - Spoof of Guidinglight, mainly comprised of couples weeping in dark, candle-lit rooms

* "Me gusto tu madre chocha" - Spanish for "I like your mom's p***y", spoof of spanish soap operas in general.

"FYI - For your infotainment" - An infomercial channel

* "Chilly Dilly" - A Billy Mays-esque guy glorifies products such as "Kablooey", "Oxy-Moron", "Hercu-Sneeze", or "The Miracle Vomit Inducer".

* "The floorbuster" - (Spoof of Oreck commercials) A man in a british accent talks about a vacuum, which, in the rise of self-vacuuming devices, markets itself as "doing all the sucking for you". Demonstrations feature men masturbating with it behind curtains. He uses lots of cockney slang and confusing british jokes, causing customers to call in confused.

* "Straight Outta Golden City" - A group of old ladies in a coffeeshop gush over useless antiques, such as doilies and ceramic thimbles.

* "Bucky Bigball's Big, Huge, Monster, 89% Cash Back Certified Pre-Owned Quality Vehicle Clearance Extravagganza" - A energetic, overweight, loud car salesman boasts about a clearance at his car dealer. He constantly jumps on top of cars, causing damage to cars. He also falls short of breath due to the over-excitement, and paramedics rush to him.

"WSN - Weazel Sports Network"- Parody of Fox Sports Network

* "Nasty-Car" - Live telecast fo Nasty-Car Races, which feature lots of car crashes and rednecks fighting in the audience

* "Toilet Bowl Live Coverage" - A Football at the Toilet Bowl Stadium, which features two announcers, one, which is a sports enthusiest, and one who makes fun of the other one and makes frequent sex jokes.

* "Sports in 3 minutes and 25 seconds" - Shows a fast-paced announcer who tries to jam in all of 1 week's sports news into a 3 minute 30 second time slot, causing him to talk fast.

Music:

Some ideas:

The Vibe (From GTA4) will feature a Women's Empowerment/Civil Rights leader as a DJ who constantly blamed men and whites for our country's problems. Songs could be on the lines of:

*"Game's Pain" by The Game & Keyshia Cole

*"Hope" by Twista feat. Faith Evans

*"Doo Wop [That Thing]" by Lauryn Hill

*"Teenage Love Affair" by Alicia Keys

*"You Don't Know my Name" by Alicia Keys

*"Let it Go" by Keisha Cole & Lil Kim

JNR (Also from GTA4) could have jazz from the 20's & 30's

Another station could have Blues music and R&B. Like:

*"Ordinary People" by John Legend

*"Like You: by Bow Wow & Ciara

*"Let Me Hold You" by Bow Wow

*"Shorty Like Mine" by Bow Wow

*"Heard 'Em Say" by Kanye West

There should also be a station dedicated to 90's post-grunge rock music. Along the lines of:

*"Real World" by Matchbox 20

*"3AM" by Matchbox 20

*"Sympathy" by Goo Goo Dolls

*"Slide" by Goo Goo Dolls

*"Iris" by Goo Goo Dolls

*"Cryin" by Aerosmith

*"You Get What you give" by New Radicals

*"Two Princes" by Spin Doctors

*"Semi-charmed life" by Third Eye Blind

*"Jumper" by Third Eye Blind

*"Never Let you Go" by Third Eye Blind

*"Closing Time" by Semisonic

Also a station for 90's music but with a Folk-rock format. Examples:

*"Run-Around" by Blues Traveler

*"Hook" by Blues Traveler

*"All for you" by Sister Hazel

*"Mr Jones" by Counting Crows

*"Hangin' around" by Counting Crows

^Look these songs from all stations up on YouTube to get an idea of the feel of each station

I'll think of more stations later.

Some mob and crime families:

* "The Weinerburgers" - A Jewish family, who the protagonist's mother was friends with, but is set out to kill her.

* "The Ligners" - Another Jewish family headed by Larry Ligner, part of the "Ligner & Schyster" Law firm (Goldberg died in GTA4).

* "The Red Feather Tribe" - Native-American tribe who run the Red Feather Casino. The main family is the "Takachodansakits", a Native-American term for "Must rob and punish Gamblers and Greedy Americans". Headed by "Chief Soaring Boulder" and his two sons, "Little Cock" and "Mari-Juana".

* "The Rodriguezes" - A loud-mouthed Puerto Rican family, headed by Latisha and her grown daughter, Alacita, and her son, Mikel, and teenage daughter, Alana. Her daughters frequently go to clubs and the family is know to be annoying and flashy and have anger problems.

What do you guys think, so far?

Must of put lots of work into this.. I think Carcer city should defenetly be a candidate for the next GTA game it is constantly mentiond in GTA games as easter eggs and is also the city where Manhunt takes places which is part of the GTA III Canon. I have always been supportive over this idea and feel it should of been used in past GTA's. It would be a very seedy dark city like GTA III Liberty city and would be a perfect location for a GTA location.

Yes, but would there be any countryside or open "wasted" space? I never liked big, cramped, cities in GTA Games.

^^ Thanks for the map

Bottom island: Irondequoit

Middle-left island: Poinciannapolis

Top big island: Filibuster

Middle small island: Golden City

Filibuster and Golden City would be accessible together.

VERY top bridge connection Poinciannapolis and Filibuster is the Mullet bridge.

Good job man, I would like to see this be put into an actual GTA Game. Looks like a good story with lots to do. Must have taken a while to put together, nice work. icon14.gif One thing, I would like to see a return of the Smileys from Manhunt.

That was easily one of the most original threads this GTA Next forum has ever seen. I think a GTA like that would be great but why would it be so far off in 2015 when the most likely next GTA will be in 2010? Also why would the main charcter be coming home from Iraq? Are you seriously saying the war would really have lasted 12 years?

Another thing is Gurnesy is not mentioned as a island in IV but it's just mentioned. Gurnsey is possibly a state or a city also it's one of the areas of GTA1. You also need to go into more depth about the gangs and some of the features in the game. Can you smuggle drugs? Can you make your own casinos like you were supposed to be able to in SA? Will past GTA charcters be in the game? What about how the police will be?

Best idea ever.

PS: Are you sure that you can use the map?

I like the idea for creating casinos, I could add that. Guernsey Island could be scrapped, and the only past characters would be from the GTA4 era (cause that would make sense). The game won't be RELEASED in 2015, it will be set then, i was hoping that it would be released in a few years, say 09 or 2010. And maybe he doesnt have to be from the Iraq war, he could be straight out of studying abroad, or out of college, etc.

The basic design of the map (location and orientation of the islands) could be used, but probably a different street layout. Probably more highways and stuff like that.

So that it would be set in the FUTURE!! (Near future so it isn't unrealistic). GTA4 was set in the present and my other idea (For Vice City) will be set in the late 90's, so CC could be in the future, as a change.

I like your ideas man, they sound should be real fun to play.

However, what I think everyone who wants a bigger setting, and more activities should know, is that even current-gen systems have limitations. GTA 4 really pushed them to the limits, and a bigger city or more things to do will undeniably mean details will suffer.

Just look with the transition from GTA 3 to SA, as both were also on the same gen systems. GTA 3 has a small area, and not too much things to do outside missions, but the detail was amazing. If you bump into someone, you get different reactions based on from what direction you ran into them, and their percieved frailness - some dust it off quickly while others fall to the ground. You can shoot limbs of with powerfull weapons, each with a different dying animation, and there are many different animations also on the type of weapon.

While SA was so much bigger, with so much more to do in free-roam, with a level-up in terms of interactivity - you get offen thrown into defending your turf randomly without actually going to a mission, it suffered greatly in terms of details. Running into people is like running into a solid moving pole, and there are only four sets of dying animations - one for weak weapons, powerfull weapons shot from front, powerfull weapons shot from back, and falling of a height.

So if you want a map that big, with so much stuff to do (I purposely rent an already furnished appartment because I can't be bothered to do the boring-as-sh*t task of furnishing it myself in real life, so how you expect me to decorate an appartment for fun in a videogame?), you will have to be prepared to probably go back to the most basc last-gen style ragdoll physics, and graphics will have to be more compressed or something.

one small tidbit suggestion for the map, howabout this one time we arent on islands?! it would be very nice to say perpahs have a lake or a river and some streams going through the map, but to speak of really wasted space (its not eveng good to cruise through!) water is a majour waste of space. look at gta3 and sa, both of those maps are atleast 30 - 50% water! that is a majour waste of space, now i know we have to keep the player boxed in but there must be a better way then wasting 1/3 of the map with useless water...

EDIT:

IE: family or freind Hostage, fear of death, just plane "locked", part of the story line (Ie i have no reason to leave). OR the unthinkable, let the player free roam around, however the only jobs they can do are in the area where they start.

(getting rid of the threee areas as we know it means atleast 20% more map without increasing the size of the map!)
